View Full Version : Editting our own polls

Often enough for me to actually remember it, people need to edit their own poll, but don't have the ability to do so. This has happened to me a bunch of times, since most of my threads have polls, and I can remember on more than one occasion that other people have mentioned in their threads that they messed up on their poll as well.
Then that member has to ask a mod to do it, which is mod time that doesn't really need to be spent for that type of task.
I was thinking, since we have the ability to edit our own posts, we should also be able to edit our own polls. Just to make sure that the privilege doesn't get abused, you can make restrictions like it can only be edited within a certain time limit.

I honestly don't have a problem with thread creators having the ability to edit their own threads. But even Smods and mods have limited abilities when it comes to editing polls. For example, once a poll has been created and votes are casted, it's impossible to delete it and start over again. Even if you change the question and the poll choices the votes from the previous poll will remain. Only Admins have the ability to strip the poll and start a new poll.
The reason, I'm saying all this is that it's one of the main reasons why someone would want to edit their polls, at least from my experience from when members would ask me to edit their polls.
But I guess if someone made a spelling error or wanted to add yet another choice to the poll options, then it might be beneficial.

I wasn't talking about completely deleting a poll and starting fresh. I just don't want to have to bug a mod to edit like a stupid spelling error that I could easily do myself.

members have around a 10 minute window from once they create a poll to edit it before being forced to ask a mod to edit it for them.

After all of the threads I've made before, I've tried to edit my polls at least a few times, to no avail.
