This thread phails, and Vash would rape Gene badly before Gene could load his gun with those special bullets (Can't remember the name of it)

If Gene is given a chance to fire and has access to all Castor Shells then he easily wins. There is a Castor shell, I believe it's number 13, that opens a minotorize black hole.
Gene has also shown that he can competantly react and dodge gunfire. Moreover, he has a force field by his arm, of which was able to take several hits from Moonlight Suzuka.

^^thats the point though against vash he wont have a chance to react...hell get shot gameover.

Can Vash move faster then a bullet? I'm not taking about dodging, I'm asking could he literally just outrun one? What is his speed of movement as it pertains to travel?
Also,
it all depends on how far they start apart. If Gene stars far enough away enough and has the Castor Shells, he could fire off the right one and it would be his win.

well wouldnt the casters fuck up vash thou? if it hits him. i think gene could win if he shoots the right caster at the right time.

Gene has several Castor shells, some of which do not need to directly hit an opponent to defeat them.
Also, what kind of attacks does vash have anyway? Because gene's force field can take some pretty good damage.

well, vash and gene are both the type that shoots and run. Vash gun made a hole in the moon i beleive. but i doubt hi'll use it. im leaning towards gene because i really really doubt vash would use his gun to kill..

The thing with Vash is that he regularly runs through hails of gun fire without taking so much a scratch. Even if everything around him is totally devastated, he'll come out of it squeaky clean. This leads one to believe that it's not so much his movement, but also that he as a person effects probablity and he is in fact very 'lucky'.
He cheats death. Alot. He runs up against very skilled and powerful individuals who use a variety of special abilties, weapons, and techniques on a regular basis, and can not only avoid being killed, he can avoid killing them. There's more to him then a really powerful gun, a good aim, a trenchcoat, and a pacifist's streak.
I suppose what it really comes down to is this Gene person lucky?

1. Gene's Light Shield is very unreliable and cannot be counted on in a protracted battle to last. He used it two or three times in the series and it broke down both times when under stress.
2. Vash can read the trajectories of the bullets as they're fired - so yes - he can readily dodge bullets.
3. The uber-Caster Shells drain your life and are very limited in number, assuming Gene gets to fire one....
4. Vash also has a 100% accuracy, he hits pretty much everything he shoots at unless it's someone exceptionally good like a Gung-Ho Gun.
5. Vash has also dodged virtually point-blank gunfire. (I'm thinking of his fight against Dominique the Cyclops).
6. Even if Vash wasn't aiming to kill...which is unlikely...he's fast enough on the draw and good enough with accuracy to nail Gene before he can draw.
Long and short of it is that Vash > Gene

:huh You are kidding, right? Have you actually seen Vash's body without clothes? He's so full of scars that it's hard to look at him...

Vash versus Gene isn't as much of a slaughter as my initial reaction though, but Vash still wins.

Vash wins because his reaction time is way beyond that of Gene`s.

Manga Vash I'd give this to easily because he does have access to a few plant abilities beside the angel arm. Anime Vash whom I know more about was good enough to consistently change the trajectory of a bullet by throwing a pebble at it. That and he can draw his gun fast enough to be balancing an egg on it, holster than gun, then redraw it without disturbing the egg that was sitting on the barrel. Obviuosly I'm gonna give this to Vash.

The thing is though, if Vash is in character he wouldn't go for the kill, which gives Gene a much better chance to fire off a Castor (and as luck as Vash is, I doubt he could dodge a mini black hole). Although Vash could arguably blast away Gene's gun and have him disabled in about a second, and you could count that as a win. Bloodlusted Vash is overkill.

People are saying about Gen's Number 4, 9 and 13 Caster Shells, but to be honest Vash could quite easily draw, shoot him in both arms and both legs and reholster before Gene can even load his gun.

The issue with that is Gene's force field.
He'll be able to survive for at least a few seconds.

True, but he never seemed to use it when it really mattered did he?
He used it on Suzuka and to block Harry's big machine's attacks and that was sorta it...he never used it to save his ass from Shimi or Leilongs attacks and they shot pretty quick.
It requires him using his hands to perform it anyway, he can't defend with an unreliable shield and load his gun at the same time.

Judging from what I know of both the series, I wouild say that Vash would win.

HOORAY PEOPLE WHO DONT THINK THIS SUX MAJOR ASS!!!!!! Geez its been at least a year since i got back on this thing and im seeing pretty good things bout some of my posts. SEE all of u people who said this failed it got 2 count em TWO PAGES!!!! lol anyway i agree with some of ur comments. sure vash can go faster that gene buuuut gene has the good all caster gun as some of u pointed out ( i thank those people for pointing that out....domo :P ). Anyway the caster shells that Kaname pointed out like the #13 caster shell is a good ace up gene's sleeve but remember he has to use them SPARINGLY....if not he dies. So those shells are a superior double edged sword for both vash and gene. ( just wanted to throw that out there ). Also i see that people are mentioning genes light shields too. Vash's bullets couldn't break that. Then there's is his speed others have mentioned as well. yes we all know vash could probably shot out a portriat of himself on gene's grappler ship and still have time to shoot gene while he was still loadin his caster gun. At that Gene's at a big disatvantage so to me i'd say Vash wins this one.

Gene has good gear and all, but he needs that precious few seconds to load a shell and fire. Unfortunately, in less than those seconds, Vash can very realistically (if he's in character):
a) Shoot Gene's gun away
b) Shoot Gene's arm (he has no problem with injuring dangerous people if it puts them out of commission)
c) Shoot Gene's arms and legs
Gene's forcefield is not going to help much. As said, it is unreliable, and he hasn't used it much, and plus, with the shield on, he can't load a shell. If he has to load a shell, he needs to turn of the shield, which leads to either a, b, or c.
Now, if Vash is bloodlusted...well, how far into saying "ouch" will Gene get before he drops dead?

Vash doesnt have 100% accuracy he has 110% accuracy
Also i dont see the point of the thread started limiting vash. He wouldnt even have to use the angelarms against gene.
