For those that play DDR, and own the PS2 version of this game, what do you think?
At first, I didn't like it. Because I thought the default song list was kind of bland, and thought that unlocking was going to be a pain. But then I realized that you could usually unlock around 5 or more songs at a time, so it wasn't that bad at all. And said songs were actually pretty good.
It's also nice to see an improvement on the graphics and designs of the dancers. They look rather nice now.
With that said I give this game an 8/10.
How about you guys?

There are around 70-80 songs in all. And yes, some of the older songs do make appearances, either as a remix, or in the original form. For example, Dynamite Rave, Can't Stop Falling in Love, Love <3 Shine, The Least 100sec etc.

So far unimpressed. The complete song list is pretty good, far more "americanized" them most other releases. The problem is unloking hte songs. Unlike the previous PS2 game, where you could either do Dance Master mode OR just play alot, you are required to do a "Stellar" mode, where you are basically given all types of rediculous requirements thats you need to do to unlock stuff... and to do them, you only have access to a list of 10-12 songs. and then once you do those, you need to do a series of "dance master" like missions.here are a few examples:
for the regular requirements: Beat 3 songs in a row with Male characters. Now mind you, who you play with is randomized every song. So you need ot play one with a male char, then luck out and happen ot random one next song, then random one again. Now add on to this that there are only 10 songs to choose from in this set, and 3 or so of them dont have dancers (they have videos) this gets very repetitive very fast. Or "Random song X and beat it". So pretty much, you click random and let yourself fail until you get hte one it wants you to play. THATS WHAT I CALL FUN.
As for the final "dance master mode" like requirements, it is things along the lines of "Get a AA on this 8 step song" which is difficult in the first place, but they also incresed the score required to get a AA now, 9.5 million per song i belive it is. A personal favorite was one that said "get perfect" so i waited... it was a fast song probobly 200 BPM... then the one and only step whipped past my screen at x5 speed. and i failed. Other good ones include where the top and right arrows have boost on, and the others have normal speed. Or 2 arrows will be 1 beat below the otehr two. So you need to basically have ungodly reactions and relearn how to play just to finish these.
Reason many have started calling it "Controller Controller Revolution" becuase of the absurd difficulty of many of the requirements to unlock things that only the most elite of players can accomplish normally. and are physically impossible to do on a cloth matt.
I normally play A's on 8 step songs, and i am having major problems with most of this game.
Good song list, bad new mode you need to access it. Could have been the best console DDR yet.

I have a octared(or something) pad and a DDR game on the PS one but I only play stepmania on my computer since I have every single arcade song anyway

I have Stepmania and the wireless DDR Pad for PS2. I'm going to get the converter to dance in Stepmania. If possible.

I've got like DDR UltraMix 2 for xbox, and two dance pads. I'm not really into it like some people, but I do play it for fun and a work out.

Has anyone bought the new DDR for the PS2?

Have a nice Cobalt flux pad, though I havn't played much in the last few months.
I have gotten SuperNova, and it is junk, almost thought it was gonna be decent and i would start playing again. So crappy i went out of my way to download stepmaina and get all the old decent songs, though i have no matt for my PC.
