Ok brief history before the events of Saint Seiya. (all this is taken from the book Hypermyth “Cosmo Special” published in 1988).

It is said the Origin of the Universe as well as the Gods (Zeus, Hades, Poseidon, Athena, Ares etc..), Comes from the Big Bang. But what is not known to many is that Cronos (Father of Zeus, Hades, and Poseidon) was the one who caused the Big Bang.
The Big Will (Which ware the Will of the God’s) ware liberated by the Bing Bang, and merged with universe.
When, humanity on earth was rapidly populating, among the vary few awakened the Big Will, as well as their Cosmo power….few reached 7th, 8th, and 9th sense. That’s how 3 man (Zeus, Hades, & Poseidon) Gained Omnipotent Powers and granted themselves immortality. Considered as Gods from the rest of the world; each divided the world (and dimensions) among themselves.
Zeus - Sky and Earth
Poseidon - The Ocean
Hades - The realm of the Dead.
(There is also the realm of gods).
Then Athena was born.
Athena was Born with a shield on one hand, her staff on the other. Athena is then granted a God Cloth, and Zeus then goes on to give Earth for Athena to protect.
It is unknown why Zeus left?
Why did he ensure Earth to Athena?
In Zeus absence several Holy wars erupted.
Athena had to defend against the Gods several times.
First Holy War, Poseidon’s invasion.
Second Holy War, The War against the Giants.

In one single moment, the state of Nothingness wasn’t self-sufficient anymore and then two spiritual entities, deprived of all materialistic needs, arose: Gaia and Ouranos. Their union brought to our universe the first material deities (Titans and Giants) and the latter also had godly offspring (Zeus, Poseidon, Hades, Ares, Prometheus, Athena …). Gaia asked one Titan, Kronos, to use his extensive knowledge on space/time to start the Big Bang.
Big Will (the Will of the Gods or Divine Will), which looked like an arrow of light released by the Big Bang, collided with pieces of [reality, space, vacuum of space] and thus it was made possible for stars to shine high in the sky and allow the universe to exist as we know it.
Saints' power originated from the understanding of the "Cosmo". Everything in the universe is made up of particles. And the origin of the universe and everything in it is tied in with the Big Bang. The Saints take this knowledge to another level: humans are made of particles, thus humans should be able to use the mysterious forces behind the particles. This is because, the energies of the Big Bang still reside within all particles.

Each atom within a human body resembles a small solar system, and since the human body consists of billions of atoms, the totality forms a "small Cosmo" or a "Micro Universe". Each person's Cosmo has its own unique signature. If permission is granted, one can also draw another's Cosmo to amplify one's own Cosmo. The power of the Cosmo can also be channeled through: Their designated constellation, the Saints' Cloths, armors given by gods to mortals.

The Saints go through extensive training, to harness, unleash and control its Cosmo Power. However it is only released in a condensed form, upon the designated target. Reason for this, is because the Saint attempt is sub-atomic destruction on the isolated target.

Nothing seems to be out of Cosmo’s reach. It has bin shown to resist reality warp, matter transmutation, physical destruction, and effect intangible objects such as the spirit, soul, energy, curse, light etc…
Note: The English Scan are not properly translated. Marin refers to Seiya, stating Particles not Atoms. The importance of Atoms, is explained shortly after. In fact many of the scans have horrible translations, and typos >_<
The mysterious 7th sense. In the world of Saint Seiya, it acknowledges the 5 human senses. It then goes to say that it is aware of the 6th sense (regarded as the power of the mind), where one can exploit its Telepathic, Telekinetic, Pisonic, Cladiverice etc.. basically Psychic powers in general. In order to reach the 7th sense, a Saint MUST have mastery over the 6 preceding senses. Only through personal awareness (free of emotions), establishing contact with one’s center (its soul). Only then can a Saint grasp the 7th sense. Through the mastery of the 7th sense, a Saint overall all senses and perception is increased. It burns one own Cosmo to a higher standard. Thus grant Light Speed movements, physical augmentation, more energy to command. One is able to farther explore its cosmo, and develop unique abilities through the 7th sense. The 7th sense, even replaces or substitutes lost human senses including the 6th sense.

Arayashiki is the 8th level of consciousness and this power grants a human the ability to fully control his soul and go to the Kingdom of the Underworld and still be alive. Shaka of Virgo and Athena were the first to reach this 8th sense. Suicide is not how one reaches arayashiki. Shaka and Athena took a shortcut to the Underworld.
The 9th sense lies farther beneath the 8th pervious ones. I have no concreted explanation over the 9th sense. However I shall give a small theory of mine backtracking the manga. The 9th sense is wielded by the Gods, it the highest possible standard one can reach period; that much I do now. This must be the so called “Miracle” the Gold Saints speak of, and the power to rival Gods that Saori explains to Seiya at the end of the Manga (yet it is not referenced as the 9th sense, just some what tied in). Its when a Saints Cosmo reaches critical mass, and expends without limit. Yet is able to harness it, this explains why their cloths go to a final Transformation that only the Olympic Gods could wear (not even minor Gods are qualified), yet a Cosmo of the same caliber is needed to wear the Kamui. We then again see Seiya at the end of Overture attain a power that rivals Apollo (another Olympic Champion). Seiya mentions that his Micro Cosmo can be raised to limitless ends, to the point of becoming one with the universe itself.
Reincarnated Gods wield the 9th sense upon manifesting the Big Will.

I will update this, as I re-read the manga and re-watch Overture
Because the Big Will is a spiritual force, each creation that derived from it had a soul. So it seems normal that we find ourselves capable of communicating with stars spiritually and also the fact that stars have an impact on our destiny is not far from the truth.
While Humanity prospered in numbers, some powerful Gods decided they should reincarnate through Humans. In their Human form, they weren’t able to [sense, awake] the Big Will in themselves at first. If the discovery of aura, or Cosmos, was achieved by controlling the 7th sense, to discover the Big Will in oneself was possible only by mastering the 8th and 9th senses.
At first, three men succeeded in reaching awareness of the Big Will to completely reincarnate in their full power. They possessed great power like immortality and they named themselves Zeus, Hades and Poseidon. Considered as gods by the rest, each acquired and conquered his own territory.
Zeus took earth and heaven, Poseidon was content with oceans and Hades got the dimensional plane where all souls go after death.
Ah the Dunamis. The Dunamis is revealed by Pontus in Episode G, chapter 44. Basically it’s the ability to manipulate all matter on an atomic scale. Its how the Primordial Gods manipulated the universe to their liking. Even the Titans can create their own Pocket Universe and manipulate everything in it. For example a Planet was reduced in size through the use of Dunamis.

Aiolia receives the Dunamis from Pontus as a gift (or way to manipulate him). With it he is able to neutralize the Dunamis effect from opposing Gods. As well as reconstruct his arm and heart on an atomic level.

The Sacred Cloths
Armors or “Cloths” play an integral part in Saint Seiya. Because the Saints can harness incredible destructive powers, they realized they needed some form of protection from equally destructive opposition. So armors where created, and issued according to a Saints rank. The more powerful your classification, the better armor you received. However you must keep in mind that the armor are alive as well. It decides, if you are fit to be the next bearer, or even act on its own to protect is master. And like wise the same way it is alive and aware, it also retains cosmo power. You must have basic knowledge and understanding of the cosmo. Like wise, you must know how to wield the minimum (Bronze Saint Level at least) to harness the armor. Otherwise, its just a clunky old piece of metal. But if you ignite your cosmo, it serves as the key to unlock the amors true potential. Thus grant its residing cosmo power, and enhance all physical stats along with a cosmo boost and the protection of course. Yet the armors can DIE, if it is damaged beyond repair, the only known way to revive the armor is to donate large quantities of blood.

Athena’s Sanctuary
Athena Kamui
Yes Athena owns an authentic Kamui, given only to 12 major Gods or Olympic Champions. Breaching this armor is a task at hand. Even Hades could not pierce this armor, with his own strength and weapon. However Athena did pierce Hades Kamui, yet it was aided with 4 Saints bearing Devine Cloth (and apparently the 9th sense, but that’s my own theory >_>). The Shield is said to repeal any enemy attack, while the scepter is saild to grant mircles and lead the Saints to Victory.
Devine Cloth
Hypnos and Thanatos first referenced it as Kamui. But later corrected themselves that these are armors are near the actual Kamui. These are cloths that where bathed by the Goddesses blood. Yet go a radical transformation, when a miracle takes place. The miracle is apparently unleashing ones cosmo to an infinite level. This triggered the armor to transform, entirely. Taking a different appearance, and overall boosting the saints stats in every known category.
Gold Armors
The infamous Gold Armors. For a long time thought to be unbreakable, due to the fact that vary few means to damage them. Though we are corrected, and soon find out that the armor does have limitations.
It’s a known fact that the armor losses function (though is not destroyed), when its hit with Absolute Zero.
And we have seen cases, where physical force did the trick. We can also be certain that, Minor Gods can damage the armor (Weaken Titans, or Minor Gods). Yet time and time again, the armors have proven themselves to be extremely durable and sturdy. These armors are only given to the Saints who can wield the 7th sense.
*The Last Cloths* I suppose this one should be given a special rank, and placement. These are armors that are right below Gold Armors, yet above the Silver Ones. This is the natural form of the Devine Armors, prior to its transformation. ‘The Last Cloth” was referenced by Shion, when the damaged Bronze Armors where bathed with the Goddesses blood. Upon being bathed, the damaged is instantly repaired and went another transformation. Keep in mind that the same armor’s where previously repaired and brought back to life with the donation of the Gold Saints blood. So from then on, whenever the Bronze Saints, accessed the 7th sense. The armors would go a minor transformation, and become radiate a gold color. For this period, the Bronze Armors rivaled the Gold Armors.
Silver Armor
Initially before the Last Cloths, Devine Armors or Kamui came to be known. It served as the middle ground of the 3 Tier list (Gold, Silver, Bronze). The armor was generally given to Saints who where well versed in manipulating Cosmo Power. While Silver Saint level characters, need to place effort to damage the cloth. Gold Saint Level characters can shatter them with no effort. It also losses its function and is destroyed when its hit cosmo base freezing attack of -200 c.
*Crystal Armor* Non Cannon~ Anime Only
So far we have only one known Saint to bear the armor. Crystal Saint. Not much is know, we generally classify this armor as Silver Saint Level.
Bronze Armor
These are armors given to Saints, who have grasped basic knowledge and understanding of Cosmo power.
Regarded as the weakest of the armors. Yet few are chosen to become the bearers. Though they do provide a level of protection, with sufficient effort the bronze saints can shatter the armor. Its freezing point is -150 c and shatter if enough force is applied (4,000 KG).
Black Armors
These are replicas of the Bronze armors. If you read hyptermyth, it goes into more detail explaining its back history. But these are generally regarded as Bronze Armors equal.
*Steel Armor* Non Cannon~Anime Only
The Sky Cloth, Sea Cloth and Land Cloth are three high-technology cloths made by a scientist (Dr. Asamori) of the Grado Foundation by order of Mitsumasa Kido. Kido wanted to ensure that Saori would have sufficient protection. And decided to construct, its own armors. Through trial and error it succeeded in making 3 Tech Aided armors. After the indecent in Death Queen Island (anime only) we never see these Steel Saints again. Its interesting, to look over the steel armors. Since Dr. Asamori showed great stress in the inability to replicate the mystical armors.
Poseidon Sanctuary
Poseidon Kamui
Yes though, it is referred to as scales that is no ordinary scale. It is in fact a actual Kamui.
Mariners Scales
These are armors made by Orichalcum. And radiate a golden orange form. The Mariners claim that, their armors are equivalent to the Gold Armors. Though this is proven false, when Seiya shatters Brians armor and states its much weaker then the Gold armors. Take knowledge that, the Gold Armors is made of Orichalcum and other rear metals.
Scales
This is worn by Thetis. She is not a General, and gave Shaina a good fight. It is believed to be around Silver Saint Level.
Hades Sanctuary
Hades Kamui - yes the armors made by Hades are surplice (108 total). Yet he wears an authentic Kamui.
* Minor God Armors*
These two armors where granted to Hypnos and Thanatos. It is not part of the 108 surplices. Yet they are no Kamui. It is believed to be stronger then the Gold Saints. Yet weaker then Devine Cloth or Kamui.
Surplice
108 dark armors where made to represent 108 stars in the constellation. At least for the 3 Head Judges of the underworld. They are renown to be extremely durable. I can not say if there is any difference at all, between the 3 Head Judges and the rest of the surplices. Yet we do know that, the armors rival the Gold Armors. Yet are slight less durable.
Odysseus Sanctuary
Odysseus did not wear an armor in Overture.
Angles
Angels wore an armor, yet it is unknown how powerful they where. I think its around, Gold Armor level (give or take slightly).
Titians Sanctuary
Ars Magna
Not much is known of Ars Manga. Only Pontus wore the armor, and Pontus belongs to the first Generation of Gods Primordial to Zeus and co. I have trouble ranking it, I believe its superior to the gold armors (safe bet). I have no clue how it stacks up to the Kamui, Devine Cloth, God Armor, or Soma.
Somas
These are armors superiors to the Gold Armors. Its freezing point, is beyond absolute zero. So far only Phonton Burst, has bin able to damage the armor. Through Phonton Burst is sad to eradicate the power of several (I mean big number here) stars going supernova. Soma’s have an interesting design, its form is a weapon before it breaks into pieces of an armor. Yet even when it is worn as an armor, it can from the representing weapon.
Giant's Adamas
These are the armors worn by the Giants.
Asgardians - Non Cannon (Anime Only)
Odin's Robe
When you unite the 7 sapphire, in front of the Odin Robe. One can now wear the Odin Robe. I speculate, that this armor must be around Kamui level.
Sacred Cloth
These are the armors worn by the God Armor, representing a Norse Mythological creature. Only the cloths, that bear a sapphire are considered an authentic Sacred Cloth. They seem to be below Gold Saint Level. I would say, they are Surplice or Scale rank.

The Current Athena.
Athena must have died in one of the former Holy Wars.…..(remember Gods are suppose to be eternal) but the Will of her Spirit lives on.
So Athena resurrects in the body of a human every 250 years or so, when Chaos is at his highest to prepare for another Holy War.
The Current Athena has resurrected in the body of a young female child called Saori Kido.
The former Athena had given mission orders to both Shion and Dohko to be ready for her resurrection and be prepared for the next Holy War. Shoin became Pope and was the leader of the all of Sanctuary including the Gold Saints. While Dohko was in charge to look over the Hades Castle.
250 years later. New Saints ware appointed, and the goddess was reborned. This is when Saga (it is still a mystery if he was possed by Ares or if its own evil soul) assassinated Shion, took over the identity as the Pope, attempted to kill Athena, and ordered to have Aioros killed for knowing the truth behind is true identity.
Saori Kido is a young girl who was found by a rich japanese man called Mitsumasa Kido during an expedition in the ancient Greece ruins. At the time she was only a baby. A man called Ayoros was holding her and next to him was the Sagitarius Gold Cloth. Ayoros asked Mitsumasa Kido to take the child and the armor. He than explained that the child was none other than the Goddess Athena who comes back and reincarnates in a human body to overcome evil every 100 years. Ayoros then dies. Mr. Kido takes the child and the armor to Japan. He raises the child and holds the armor safe. He then brings children to his foundation to train them as Saints by sending them to different corners of the planet. After Mr. Kido dies, Saori (his so called Grandaughter) takes his place in the foundation and organizes the Galactic Tournament for the youngsters who trained as Saints to obtain the sacred Sagitarius cloth.
As a child she had always been cruel and treated as a princess. She constantly whipped and beated the children at the foundation seeing them as slaves. After Ikki takes away the sacred Sagitarius cloth, she actually joins the Bronze saints and does her possible to gain back the armor. She then starts to care more for Seiya and the others until the battle against the Silver Saints when her true identity is finally reveiled as the Goddess Athena. After that, the Bronze Saints' only purpose is to protect her and help her defeat the Great Pope in Greece. When she arrives to the Sanctuary in Athens she is pierced by a gold arrow thrown at her by Tremi. The Gold Saints do not believe that the one the Bronze Saints are fighting for is Athena since they think that Athena actually resides in the Sanctuary with the Great Pope. Fortunately they accept their mistake once she is saved by Seiya.
And that’s how the Sanctuary Saga starts off.
Athena although she is a Goddess, she is some what disappointing in demonstrating her power.
But nerveless the less.
Her feats and powers are
Healing, Resurrecting, Incrementing Cosmo power; To the Saints.
She has the ability to resurrect the armors and upgrade them to Devine cloth with her blood.
She can also exorcise Spirits (like Hades) from their body using her blood.
She has a God Cloth, A Shield that conquers all attacks. And her Staff that leads the saints to victory.

Saga at one point wanted to attain the Shield and Staff challenge any God who dared to invade Earth.
Feats Leading the Saints to victory to 8 Holy wars.
Sealing Poseidon
Killing Hades in his True Body.
Um.. The major Olympic Gods are a vital part of the universe, similar to Infinity, Eternity, Oblivion, Death, Galactus.
Major Olympic Gods would be Uranos, Gia, Cronos, Zeus, Hades, Poseidon.
But in terms of fighting abilities they are comparable to

Odin/Thor (with Odin-Force (and with Rune Magic))
Hyperstorm
Demi-Gods (Thanatos, Hypnos, Titans, and Angels)
The would be around Herald level maybe one step up or one step down.

Wow thats very nice ID, good job. Really your efforts are highly appreciated I like what you are doing, at least now the members will no more about Saint Seiya and the story behind this great manga and its characters. Well there are some great information but I would like to correct some if you would allow me (Well not correct maybe answering the member different way)
Logically, you can't have more than one omnipotent being....
That's true and that's why Zeus is the only Omnipotent in the original Saint Seiya universe. It's true Hades and Poseidon have almost equal cosmo but still they are not omnipotents, they were only the first with Zeus to reach the Big Will (9th sense) after Gaia, Cronos and the rest. Zeus left the earth since the mythological times, Athena's job is to protect the earth.
are demi-gods Sub-Nigh Omnipotent's?
Well which Demi-Gods you are talking about, because the Demi-Gods that Id is talking about are not demi-gods but gods under the command of another god. For example Thanatos & Hypnos both are gods but they are STILL servent of Hades. Artemis' angels are not demi-gods they are angels, Titans are not Demi-Gods they are gods in their fiction but their power levels differs.
To answer your question they are not, well they are not even close to be Omnipotent, in fact no one in the Saint Seiya universe is Omnipotent the only one who was stated by Masami Kuramada to be Omnipotent was Zeus in the "Saint Seiya Myth/Saint Seiya Encyclopedia".
If you want to know who are the Demi-Gods then I can name you few but they are originally humans but posses powers that make them above any other >>>
Gemini Saga (The Incarnation of god and endlessly referred in the original manga as pure as god or as strong as god and closest man to god according to the official special episode, also stated by Aioros in the game)
Gemini Kanon (His nick name is the Demi-God, you can check OVA4 title to know n_n)
Virgo Shaka (The closest man to god and the reincarnation of Buddha)
Aioros, Shion, Dohko are be default on this level since they are stronger than the above mentioned Saints

Question: Do the armors actually protect their open spots? For example: if Kyo would cut a Gold Saint's arm, would the armor protect him or not?

I cannot confirm that but I don't think the armor it self will protect the open spots but maybe the cosmo of the cloth would protect them against any attacks on these spots. As for the face I don't think it can protect them, remember when Aioria was hit on the face by Seiya there was blood coming from his mouth if the Cloth protected him there will not be any blood, maybe that's because Aioria wasn't wearing the helmet. Another scene is in Hyperion vs Aioria, Hyperion laughed and said how stupid of Saints is to cover their bodies with armors and not cover the most important part and its the head. So physical protection is not there if you ask me but cosmo protection might be.
Still I cannot confirm this because it wasn't mentioned in the original manga.
So if Kyo wanted to slash the face, and if the sword managed to pass through the Saint's cosmo then yeah the Saint is badly screwed.
Open areas (according to episode g) are protected….not as much as the armor itself but to a certain extent yes.
I consider Ep. G canon (in case your wondering) its Written by Masami Kuramada, the art is done by some one else.
As for the Classic manga, its not exactly stated but it is somewhat hinted. I recommend you look over the Shura vs. Shiru fight.

Im not adding anything or making them be more then what they are. I simply interpret word per word what the manga (and reliable sources) state.
I classify being of higher (standard) power then those of the Gold Saint, yet lower then the True Gods and/or Olympic Champions - Demi-Gods. (Or lower ranking Gods. )
I just wanted to make a simple classification.
Besides I doubt a single Titan Could Take on Zeus or Cronos.
But I do think Thanotos or an Angel would match a Titan fairly well.
1.c - The Pope

The Pope (Holy Father, Great Patriarch).
He is second in command next to Athena. His word can only be overrieden by Athena herself. But other then Goddess, what he says is law. Anyone who opposes the Pope, is branded as a traitor, and dealt with sevier punisher.
The title of Pope is usually granted by the Former Pope or the goddess.
The requirements for nomination In becoming Pope are a bit sketchy.
What we do know is that you have to be vary noble and devoted to Athena, and the “True” Sense of Justice.
“Strength and power is vary important. It is said that only those who has surpassed the other 88 Saints (including the Gold Saints) can become Pope.”
“Recently in Ep. G, it has bin stated that only those mastered the Genromaoken (Demon's Emperor Fist), is the sign that proves he is in-fact the successor for the title of Pope) - I find that vary hard to swallow, simply because it is contradicting to the main Saint Seiya storyline.
The Pope of Athena’s Saints so far.
- Shion was chosen for the title of Pope.
- Saga was nominated but he killed the pope and took over his identity, making him the False Pope for some time.
Unconfirmed and Selected Saints.
Dohko is an unconfirmed Pope. It is believed he became the pope after the Defeat of Saga, and when Athena regained control of Sanctuary. The reason why many fans believe he became pope is.
1 - He is the eldest, and wisest.
2 - Former Gold Saint.
3 - In the Poseidon arc, in Athenas absence Dohko ordered the Gold Saints to stay put and guard their respective Temples.
Aioros was nominated and then declared the Successor in becoming Pope over Saga. But Saga ended up killing Shion, followed by the order in executing Aioros for treason.

Things you should know about the Gold Armors.
Gold Cloths: Granted to the highest class of Athena's Saints, the 12 Gold Saints, said to be the most powerful warriors of all the Sanctuary. They represent the 12 Zodiac constellations. Distinctive features include the fact that they protect most of the body (unlike many Silver and most Bronze Cloths), and that they are practically indestructible, except when facing the power of a god. They freeze at absolute zero (-273.15 °C).
So keep in mind

Can resist telekinesis.
Has resisted exceeding temperatures of 1200 °C or 2192 °F
These Gold Armors are said to be indestructible (well nearly, they tolerate punishment vary well).
Only those who have obtained the 7 sense, and have sworn loyalty to Athena in the name of Justice can be considered to be nominated in becoming a Gold Saint.

7th Sense
One cannot gain the 7th sense by training or burnning his spirite or increasing his Ki or whatever, one cannot get that sense by emotions.The 7th sense grant various abilities, for example with the seventh sense one can move at the speed of light, one can see the lightning, with the 7th sense even if one lost his eyesight he can see, if he lost hearing he still can hear, if he lost touch he still can feel, if he lost his all 5 sense the 7th sense they can use the senses they have lost. Even if one lost his brain and his 6th sense still with the 7th sense he can think, talk...etc With the 7th sense one can talk to another telepathy, born his cosmos infinitly...etc The 7th senses also allow the owner of the sense to heal himself, it boost the saint power, strength, cosmo, life-energy and the speed as well.
Lightspeed
Saga can move at the speed of light but probably can move faster than the light. Saga being a Gold Saint have the ability to do a 100,000,000 hit per second. Saga when he was a child and without his Gold Cloth or burning his cosmo was able to move at the speed of light.
Phychic Powers.
Mu at one point was referred as the most powerful psychic out off 88 saints. But that doesn’t mean he is the only Physics user. Just about all have demonstrated at one point or another their ability to use various Psychic powers. One of the requirement of mastering the 7 sense, is mastering the 5 initial sense plus 6 sense which (in the anime and manga) = ESP (Extra Sensory Perception). Physic Powers Seen as of know.

Add on the fact that they are light speed users, with at least Class 50 ton strength, and an unknown amount of durability. Makes them cheap…..Yet respectable.

Aldebaran is the only Gold Saint taller than 200 centimeters. Although his sheer physical size may intimidate most of his opponents, he is considered to be kind and straight forward. During the confrontation between the Bronze Saints and the sanctuary, he saw the enthusiasm in Seiya, and their potential, and allowed them to pass through his temple. His friendship with Mū seems to be very close. In the Hades saga he is hero, killed by the spectre Deep Niobe but defeated by Taurus also. Mu said that he is the physically strongest Saint out of all the 88 Saints. In the manga-version he bursted his own eardrums trying to overcome Sorento's flute sound, but it was ineffective. In the anime-version, Aldebaran was attacked and injured by Mizar Syd instead of Sorento (later Dubhe Siegfried was the one to fight Sorento, and similarly pierced his eardrums to defend Sorento's flute sound, and fails).
His best known fact was not his physical strength, but his eternal devotion toward Athena. During the Sanctuary arc, he allows Seiya and other Saints to pass his temple because he knew it was the only way to save Athena. Even after his death in the Hades arc, his Cloth and Cosmo continue to defend the Taurus temple against invaders, and alerted Mu of Deep Niobe's assassination. Finally, his Cloth and Cosmo join the other Gold Saint for one final attack to destroy the Wailing Wall to allow Seiya and others to enter Elysion and save Athena.

Kanon is as powerful as his older brother Saga. Kanon was the one who caused Saga to turn into the 'dark side' as well as the one to have started the war between Athena and Poseidon, therefore until the beginning of Hades Chapter, the surviving saints were very hostile towards Kanon. Eventually Kanon abandoned his evil ways and pledged his allegiance to Athena. In the Hades Chapter, Kanon suited up in the Gemini armor and fought successfully against multiple Spectres. He uses similar attacks to those of Saga, including the Galaxian Explosion, but his version of Another Dimension is called "Golden Triangle" (used only as a marina, which Phoenix Bronze Saint Ikki comments is a weaker version of Another Dimension),
I consider Kanon weaker then Saga. (Althou vary powerfull in his own right).
This is because of Milo’s and Ikkys statement. Also Saga was chosen over Kanon to be the gold saint of Gemini.

Death Mask's belief in absolute power transformed him into a villain of the sanctuary. This Gold Saint is completely evil and sadistic, as he feels extreme pleasure in killing and torturing his victims through eternal suffering even after their deaths. He was killed by Shiryu in the Sanctuary Chapter. Alongside with Pisces Aphrodite, he was resurrected by Hades in spectral form in order to take Athena's head to Hades, but they were both neutralized by Aries Mu and was sent back to Hell definitely by Rhadamanthys. In the manga Hades Chapter, Death Mask sacrificed himself, along with other 11 Gold Saints, in front of Wall of Sigh to allow Bronze Saints gain passage to Elysion. From certain perspective, Death Mask redeemed himself from the sins he committed.
In the Saint Seiya Episode G manga, he is shown to be none less vile, hitting Aiolia's assistant Lithos when she defends her master, and pledging eternal loyalty to Saga because he shared the same philosophy with him.

Aiolia is head-strong and usually allows his emotions to get the best of him, an opposite to the colder and reflexive attitude of Aries Mu. Besides Marin, Seiya considered Aiolia to be his mentor, close friend and a surrogate older brother. Therefore both of their combat techniques are similar.
Saint Seiya Episode G, he is the protagonist, and it is expressed how truly ashamed he was to be Aiolos' brother, dying his hair red, and constantly training to surpass him. Also, he holds a grudge against most of the Gold Saints as well the Master of Sanctuary (who, at the time, was Saga disguised), as he often engages in fights with them (such as when Deathmask hit Lithos), and disobeying the Pope's commands. Also, it is shown that even though he resented his brother and suffered every day because of him, he still loved him very much. One example of this is his battle with the Titan Ceos. In there, he sees his brother's spirit, who offers him words of comfort and encouragement.
He then remembered a day of training with his brother. He was arguing with his brother over a new attack, he, Aiolia, had developed. Aiolos said that while his attack was insanely powerful, it also drained most of his cosmos and left him nearly dead. Aiolos then told him that he should "seal" the attack, and to only ever use it again to protect Athena, or his loved ones.
Aiolia then snaps out of it, and unleashes the attack, "Photon Burst", which defeats Ceos, and would have destroyed him, if another Titan had not saved him. Aiolia dedicates the attack to his brother, saying that he created it to protect him.
Aiolia holds his loved ones vey close to his heart, more specifically his servants Lithos and Garan, considering them his family. In fact, Garan on instance says the whole reason Aiolia got stronger was not just because of himself, but because of his desire to protect everyone and everything dear to him.
Aiolia's technique "Lightning Plasma" works by generates multiple small powerful plasma energy with his cosmo, which travel at the speed of light. If enemies are within 3 meters of his presence, the technique allows Aiolia to fire 100 million rounds per second of plasma bolts at his opponents. His other technique is "Lightning Bolt", where Aiolia punches the air at extremely fast speeds to crack the atmosphere and create a vacuum, then fires an highly charged electric orb through it.

His Cloth also carries six pairs of weapons. They are tonfars, nunchakus, spears, swords, triple rods and shields, totaling in all twelve. Dohko's pupil Shiryu calls him 'Roshi'. 'Roshi' in Japanese means 'teacher,' and he is referred to by this name from all Saints as a sign of respect (even though his only true student is Shiryu). Dohko in his dormant form resembles a tiny old man (similar to Yoda of Star Wars) who has purple skin and white beard. Dohko can transform into a young 18 year-old version of himself with the average height and weight of a man in his prime because of 'Misopethamenos'. It is a gift from Athena which allows his heart to beat at the rate of 100,000 times per year (namely, the number of times a normal human heart beats per day). Therefore, this technique allows Dohko to age at an extremely slow rate compared to other human beings (243 years to him was equivalent to 243 days). Similar to Mu, Dohko took refuge in the Rozan Five Ancient Peaks in China. The purpose was to watch over the mountain peak where Athena imprisoned the spirits of Hades' 108 Spectres. His attack unleashes the power of 100 dragons ("Rozan Hyaku Ryu Ha"). He is arguably the most experienced and wisest of the Saints. He tells the bronze saint about the Eighth Sense. He is equal in skill and ability as Shion, as said in the anime.

Aiolos died very young. His courage to stand up to the entire sanctuary and escape with the infant Athena proved his bravery. Aiolos was selected by Shion as the next Pope of the sanctuary; However, due to Saga's secret overthrown and pose as the Pope, Aiolos was branded a traitor and eventually hunted down and killed by Capricornus Shura but manage to lived long enough to encounter Mitsumasa Kido and give the infant Athena to him which Kido take the baby and the Sagittarius cloth back to Japan. As a spirit, he helps the Bronze Saints, especially Seiya, in defeating their enemies many times and lending Seiya his Sagittarius armor as well through out the series. Aiolos's technique 'Atomic Thunder Bolt' has similar form as Aiolia's 'Lightning Bolt' (a thunder sphere).
Before his flee from the sanctuary, he made a stop by his temple to pick up his Sagittarius Cloth. Before his journey toward Japan with infant Athena, he carved his will behind a tile in his temple.
The will proves to be the most inspirational speech of the entire Sanctuary arc. After Seiya and the rest of Athena’s Saints read his will, they felt Aiolos’ sense of justice and his greatness, the Saints regenerated completely from the fatigue of previous battles.
In Saint Seiya Episode G, he is a constant figure of support for his brother, despite his brother's resentment of him, with his spirit constantly appearing and helping Aiolia to overcome his challenges. In that manga he has also a powerful move called Infinity Break, similar to Coeus's own Sparkle Rapier.
Secret Moves
* Atomic Thunder Bolt: This technique is a mix between Pegasus Seiya's Pegasus Ryuu Sei Ken, and Leo Aiolia's Lighting Bolt. Aiolos shoots a massive amount of energy balls with some electric charge. This attack is from the anime, and was revealed during a flashback fight against Capricorn Shura.
Infinity Break
It’s ridiculously powerful. With to many broken characteristics.
Countless Arrows are released in an Omni-directional Attack.
They home into the target.
Its an energy attack that exceeds One Million degrees Celsius.
It bypasses all defense (I know a certain level of No Limit Fallacy, but its how its stated in the manga).
It destroys the targets life force (which explains why it bypasses defense).
With the life force destroyed, the corporal form is destroyed as well.

Shura considered himself to be the saint most loyal to Athena (Note: In the manga, he was actually loyal to the evil Pope of the Sanctuary). For this, when Aiolos basically abducted Athena as a baby (to save her from her own assassination), Shura was among those sent to hunt down and kill Aiolos. The irony in this is that had he succeeded at bringing Athena back to Sanctuary, she would have been killed. Shiryū makes him realize that. His most powerful attack is "Excalibur"(also called Seiken Battō, "Holy Sword Drawn"), which is a fist with the sharpness of a sword. In Greek Mythology, his loyalty to Athena caused Athena to grant him this power (Athena gave the warrior a holy sword 聖剣).
In the Episode G manga he's shown using Excalibur in complex moves like the Seiken Ranbu(Holy Sword Wild Dance), but they still are classified as Excalibur attacks. Later he gave the ability of Excalibur to Dragon Shiryu as he has proved his worthiness right after his own demise.
Excalibur: In the anime, it was said that in the time of Myth Athena granted the legendary sword - Excalibur only to a Saint who proved his worthy in the battlefield, and his undying loyalty towards the Goddess Athena - the epitome of what a true worthy warrior should be. The sword Excalibur was endowed with an amazing cutting power, that it enabled the user of the sword to cut through anything. This attack would be the mark of the most proudest warrior under a rank of Saint, an honour which belonged to the Gold Saint of Capricorn Shura.
However this explanation doesn't appear anywhere in the manga, in which Shura is never presented as the "most loyal to Athena". This also marks a big divergence, between the manga and the anime, in Shura's motives during the Sanctuary arc.

Aurora Execution is said to be the strongest ice-based attack in existence, it can achieve the temperature of absolute zero although Camus never actually achieved it.
Secret Moves
* Diamond Dust: when Hyoga used this technique to strike at his master, Camus blocked it with one hand, and reminded Hyoga that he was the creator of this technique. He managed to strike him back with an even more powerful Diamond Dust.

Pisces Saint is said to be the most beautiful Saint between heaven and earth out of all 88 of Athena's Saint(stated in Manga, 天と地のはざ間に輝きを誇る美の戦士). Though he looked beautiful like a woman, he is very much narcissistic. Aphrodite claims to be the most beautiful creature other than Athena, even the stars in the sky will loose its luster compares to him (stated in manga).
Aphrodite guards the last house of the 12th gold saint temple just before the pope's room. And the road leading to the pope's room is filled with Royal Demon Rose which if anyone smells it, they will slowly lose their five senses and fall into a sweet aroma of death.
Pisces Aphrodite attacks with roses as weapon ("Royal Demon Rose (red)", "Piranha Rose (black)", "Bloody Rose (white)"). He also has telaportation abilities, first used in his battle with Shun in the Sanctuary Chapter and used it again in the Saint Seiya Crimson Youth movie when he fight with Shun once again. Just like Deathmask (and Shura in the manga), he knew the true identity of the Pope (Saga) but still chose to follow him. He is as evil (but not as cruel as he prefers to use a painless attack "Royal Demon Rose" against his enemies) as Deathmask, and also attacked the Andromeda Island along and killed Shun's master, Cepheus Daidalos (though in the Anime version, it's actually Scorpio Milo who was sent to attack Andromeda island). Knowing about these facts, the kind nature Andromeda Shun kept give Pisces Aphrodite a chance to repent but after Shun sees that Aphrodite have no intention to repent and decided to uses his final deadly attack "Bloody Rose", the normally docile Andromeda Shun was forced to counter with his final attack "Nebula Storm" and ended up killing him. Later he and Cancer Death Mask were spectrally revived by Hades to have Athena's head taken to Hades, but they were once again stopped by Aries Mu and sent back to Hell by Rhadamanthys.
This Gold Saint is named after Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of beauty and love.
Through out the Sanctuary Chapter and even the movie. Both Pisces Aphrodite and Cancer Deathmask were portraited as hopless evil Gold Saint, it wasn't till the Hades Chapter that they were given redemption when they were asked by Shion to pretend to follow Hades' order. (In the Anime, after Shion asked all the dead Gold and Silver Saints to pretend to follow Hades' order, a shot shown Aphrodited smiled and Deathmask gave a smiley grin and then Shion thanked all of them for pretending to betray Athena)
Secret Moves
* Royal Demon Rose: Aphrodite uses a red rose as a projectile. Upon being struck by the thorns on the rose or smelling its fragrance, it would poison them until they slowly loose their 5 senses and fall into a sweet aroma of death. Aphrodite mentioned that these roses were used for protecting palaces in ancient times (hence the name), and he has similarly laid the exit of his Temple with a garden of these.
* Pirahna Rose: Aphrodite uses a black rose as a projectile. Upon impact, it would break anything in its touch.
* Bloody Rose: Aphrodite uses a white rose as a projectile. It would strike at the opponent's chest, and drain all the blood from their heart. As the white rose draws blood, it eventually becomes red. This is Aphrodite's strongest attack.

Depends on what you define Omnipotnet.
But as a true omnipotent, No.
In the Athena official rank. Silver Saints are considered mid tier.
It has bin stated, that Silver Saints are those who have a attain a greater knowledge of cosmo power.
And can manipulate it, to a greater extent compared to the Bronze Saints.
The average speed among Silver Saints vary from Mach 2-5.
Their have bin exceptions ware few Silver Saints, have occurred enough skill to grasp or even attain the 7th sense. By grasping the 7th sense, one is capable of competing with the Gold Saints themselves.
It was stated (in a vary non poetic pharse and several times), that Silver Saints are more then capable of punching 100,000 times per second.
Compared to the Gold Saints (100,000,000 million times per second). It may not be impressive.
But compared to a bronze saints (100’s of times per second). It givers you an idea the level of gap among the three groups.
While it is true, that 7th sense plays a vital role in battle. Especially with the Gold Saints, you have to keep in mind that, their Silver Cloths significantly weaker to the Gold Saints, yet superior to the Bronze counter part.
Silver Cloths: Granted to the Silver Saints, the middle class of Athena's Saints. They are usually very conservatively colored, appearing in tones of gray for the most part. Many Silver Cloths have similar designs when worn by the Saints. They freeze at minus 200ºC. 21 Silver cloths has been confirmed so far.
I think the Silver Saints are comparable to, One Piece or Bleach level characters.

Most consider it a side story, that takes place 12 years before the current events of Saint Seiya.

Ptolemy is a saint that follows the orders he is given. When the four bronze saints arrive at the sanctuary he is there to greet them in disguise. But as soon as they come into the vicinity of the Aries temple he reveals himself and attacks them with a shower of phantom arrows.
However, the bronze saints realize they are all illusions and easily defeat him. There is yet only one golden real arrow that he shot, which hits Saori right in the chest. Before he dies, he tells them they must reach Pope Ares in less than 12 Houses so that he can remove the arrow before it pierces Saori's heart.

The Sacred Cloths
Armors or “Cloths” play an integral part in Saint Seiya. Because the Saints can harness incredible destructive powers, they realized they needed some form of protection from equally destructive opposition. So armors where created, and issued according to a Saints rank. The more powerful your classification, the better armor you received. However you must keep in mind that the armor are alive as well. It decides, if you are fit to be the next bearer, or even act on its own to protect is master. And like wise the same way it is alive and aware, it also retains cosmo power. You must have basic knowledge and understanding of the cosmo. Like wise, you must know how to wield the minimum (Bronze Saint Level at least) to harness the armor. Otherwise, its just a clunky old piece of metal. But if you ignite your cosmo, it serves as the key to unlock the amors true potential. Thus grant its residing cosmo power, and enhance all physical stats along with a cosmo boost and the protection of course. Yet the armors can DIE, if it is damaged beyond repair, the only known way to revive the armor is to donate large quantities of blood.

Athena’s Sanctuary
Athena Kamui
Yes Athena owns an authentic Kamui, given only to 12 major Gods or Olympic Champions. Breaching this armor is a task at hand. Even Hades could not pierce this armor, with his own strength and weapon. However Athena did pierce Hades Kamui, yet it was aided with 4 Saints bearing Devine Cloth (and apparently the 9th sense, but that’s my own theory >_>). The Shield is said to repeal any enemy attack, while the scepter is saild to grant mircles and lead the Saints to Victory.
Devine Cloth
Hypnos and Thanatos first referenced it as Kamui. But later corrected themselves that these are armors are near the actual Kamui. These are cloths that where bathed by the Goddesses blood. Yet go a radical transformation, when a miracle takes place. The miracle is apparently unleashing ones cosmo to an infinite level. This triggered the armor to transform, entirely. Taking a different appearance, and overall boosting the saints stats in every known category.
Gold Armors
The infamous Gold Armors. For a long time thought to be unbreakable, due to the fact that vary few means to damage them. Though we are corrected, and soon find out that the armor does have limitations.
It’s a known fact that the armor losses function (though is not destroyed), when its hit with Absolute Zero.
And we have seen cases, where physical force did the trick. We can also be certain that, Minor Gods can damage the armor (Weaken Titans, or Minor Gods). Yet time and time again, the armors have proven themselves to be extremely durable and sturdy. These armors are only given to the Saints who can wield the 7th sense.
*The Last Cloths* I suppose this one should be given a special rank, and placement. These are armors that are right below Gold Armors, yet above the Silver Ones. This is the natural form of the Devine Armors, prior to its transformation. ‘The Last Cloth” was referenced by Shion, when the damaged Bronze Armors where bathed with the Goddesses blood. Upon being bathed, the damaged is instantly repaired and went another transformation. Keep in mind that the same armor’s where previously repaired and brought back to life with the donation of the Gold Saints blood. So from then on, whenever the Bronze Saints, accessed the 7th sense. The armors would go a minor transformation, and become radiate a gold color. For this period, the Bronze Armors rivaled the Gold Armors.
Silver Armor
Initially before the Last Cloths, Devine Armors or Kamui came to be known. It served as the middle ground of the 3 Tier list (Gold, Silver, Bronze). The armor was generally given to Saints who where well versed in manipulating Cosmo Power. While Silver Saint level characters, need to place effort to damage the cloth. Gold Saint Level characters can shatter them with no effort. It also losses its function and is destroyed when its hit cosmo base freezing attack of -200 c.
*Crystal Armor* Non Cannon~ Anime Only
So far we have only one known Saint to bear the armor. Crystal Saint. Not much is know, we generally classify this armor as Silver Saint Level.
Bronze Armor
These are armors given to Saints, who have grasped basic knowledge and understanding of Cosmo power.
Regarded as the weakest of the armors. Yet few are chosen to become the bearers. Though they do provide a level of protection, with sufficient effort the bronze saints can shatter the armor. Its freezing point is -150 c and shatter if enough force is applied (4,000 KG).
Black Armors
These are replicas of the Bronze armors. If you read hyptermyth, it goes into more detail explaining its back history. But these are generally regarded as Bronze Armors equal.
*Steel Armor* Non Cannon~Anime Only
The Sky Cloth, Sea Cloth and Land Cloth are three high-technology cloths made by a scientist (Dr. Asamori) of the Grado Foundation by order of Mitsumasa Kido. Kido wanted to ensure that Saori would have sufficient protection. And decided to construct, its own armors. Through trial and error it succeeded in making 3 Tech Aided armors. After the indecent in Death Queen Island (anime only) we never see these Steel Saints again. Its interesting, to look over the steel armors. Since Dr. Asamori showed great stress in the inability to replicate the mystical armors.
Poseidon Sanctuary
Poseidon Kamui
Yes though, it is referred to as scales that is no ordinary scale. It is in fact a actual Kamui.
Mariners Scales
These are armors made by Orichalcum. And radiate a golden orange form. The Mariners claim that, their armors are equivalent to the Gold Armors. Though this is proven false, when Seiya shatters Brians armor and states its much weaker then the Gold armors. Take knowledge that, the Gold Armors is made of Orichalcum and other rear metals.
Scales
This is worn by Thetis. She is not a General, and gave Shaina a good fight. It is believed to be around Silver Saint Level.
Hades Sanctuary
Hades Kamui - yes the armors made by Hades are surplice (108 total). Yet he wears an authentic Kamui.
* Minor God Armors*
These two armors where granted to Hypnos and Thanatos. It is not part of the 108 surplices. Yet they are no Kamui. It is believed to be stronger then the Gold Saints. Yet weaker then Devine Cloth or Kamui.
Surplice
108 dark armors where made to represent 108 stars in the constellation. At least for the 3 Head Judges of the underworld. They are renown to be extremely durable. I can not say if there is any difference at all, between the 3 Head Judges and the rest of the surplices. Yet we do know that, the armors rival the Gold Armors. Yet are slight less durable.
Odysseus Sanctuary
Odysseus did not wear an armor in Overture.
Angles
Angels wore an armor, yet it is unknown how powerful they where. I think its around, Gold Armor level (give or take slightly).
Titians Sanctuary
Ars Magna
Not much is known of Ars Manga. Only Pontus wore the armor, and Pontus belongs to the first Generation of Gods Primordial to Zeus and co. I have trouble ranking it, I believe its superior to the gold armors (safe bet). I have no clue how it stacks up to the Kamui, Devine Cloth, God Armor, or Soma.
Somas
These are armors superiors to the Gold Armors. Its freezing point, is beyond absolute zero. So far only Phonton Burst, has bin able to damage the armor. Through Phonton Burst is sad to eradicate the power of several (I mean big number here) stars going supernova. Soma’s have an interesting design, its form is a weapon before it breaks into pieces of an armor. Yet even when it is worn as an armor, it can from the representing weapon.
Giant's Adamas
These are the armors worn by the Giants.
Asgardians - Non Cannon (Anime Only)
Odin's Robe
When you unite the 7 sapphire, in front of the Odin Robe. One can now wear the Odin Robe. I speculate, that this armor must be around Kamui level.
Sacred Cloth
These are the armors worn by the God Armor, representing a Norse Mythological creature. Only the cloths, that bear a sapphire are considered an authentic Sacred Cloth. They seem to be below Gold Saint Level. I would say, they are Surplice or Scale rank.

anyways i had a few thoughts about the titans somas and the ars magna
they are definitely above gold saint level
although i think they must be equal or a level below the kamui (the ars magna might surpass them though)
i will explain my reasoning later

The Ars Magna needs feats of being broken, which will happen near the end of Episode G as Pontos is the main villain there.
