Superman is weak against Magic so if he fought Gandalf, who would win ?.

Well that depends. Superman couldn't really kill Gandalf (he's immortal), however Gandalf doesn't really have any offensive magic, at least none that is effective against anything other than forces of evil. I would say tie.

Dr. Strange would be a better match, methinks. Anyways, Supes would murk him. There's not much that Gandalf could do to him, really, based on what we know from canon LotR. Water spells would hardly have an effect on Supes. :(

Gandalf is kind of like Xellos from Slayers, his physical body isn't his real body, he's a divine, spiritual being that can reincarnate and his true existence is beyond physical matter.

Is he Nigh-Omnipotent ?.

Gandalf? No, his powers are very much limited in Middle - Earth.

Doctor Strange's weakness?

Well for one thing, he's significantly faster than a normal human (and also a master martial artist), but still is dwarfed in speed by people like Superman and Silver Surfer. He does have automatic shields to protect him, but they aren't nearly as strong as shields he consciously creates, so theoretically if you can hit him with enough power before he can react then you could beat him.

Then again, he's shown the ability to come back after death.....

Don't double post. It's quite annoying.

If Gandalf had some way of increasing his speed exponentially, and if his magic didn't just work on the evil... maybe. However, as it is right now, with an immortal fighting against someone he can't touch, it's a tie.

Superman can spank Sauron's ass and solo the whole middle earth quite easy.

There's nothing there that can really hurt him, and the power levels are too different.

I agree with Endless Mike on this one. Superman can't kill Gandalf and Gandalf can't kill Superman, so it's a tie. The maias have few offensive spells mostly limited to elemental ones. Gandalf has shown few.

If we are talking Gandalf the Grey without his reincarnative (sp?) abilities, this becomes something else though. In that case I would give it to Superman.
