View Full Version : Allow posts in Fanclubs to affect your post count.

The Fanclubs forum is without a doubt the place where I spend most of my time chatting/debating/whatever at.
Especially at the Akatsuki fanclub which is probably the most chat-active fanclub there is at this forum.
Therefor it feels a bit stupid that no matter how much you post there it doesn't affect your post count at all, which certainly can prove to be confusing for both yourself and others.
I don't really see any reason why your posts should not be counted at the Fanclubs so feel free to inform me about the reason for this as well.

posts don't count on FCs since many people usually just spam, unlike you.

does that satisfy your question? ^^

That may be but all posts are posts, right?
I think they should be counted either way, it would make things easier.
Most posts in there are useless, and the spam rules aren't strict there, so posts don't count. That simple.

even if FC posts did count...all that would do would cause the rules of the FC section to be tightened...
spamming is against the rules you know....and most of the FCs end up being off topic spam.
You would see more FCs being trashed due to "breaking the rules" because of meaningless posts. Then, you would have people complaining about how their post count went down because the FC was trashed.
so you make most of your posts in the FC section, good for you....but it's just as easy to find the same discussions you have in the FC section in the other parts of the forum where posts do count and *most likely* they wouldn't be side tracked and trashed due to meaningless spam.
so it's either...have posts not count, have a bit more softer rules that will allow spam to an extent, and everyone can have fun
or have posts count, have stricter rules, regularly trash FCs that got out of hand, everyone complaining about how their post counts went down, and thus everyone not have as much fun knowing that they have to abide to the "no spam" rule.

If they did count then some people would have like over 50k posts.

Not neccessarily. For example when posts were reactivated in the plaza people's post count didn't suddenly increase. In other words it won't be retroactive. Every new post you make in that section (after post count became enabled) would start to count.

Well, a lot of people are geared away from the FC section simply because the posts don't count. It's really frustrating when you're making on-topic posts that are in no way spam and they don't get counted. If posts were counted in the FC section, there would be a lot more fanclubs out there.
Anyway, that's my view on the matter.

you mean alot more spam FCs and more spam posts now that the FCs now count towards post count...:nuts
if you want to make a post that is in depth and on topic...there is most likely a topic already in a place that counts where you can repost that comment for it to count.
It's what you give up to allow the offtopicedness that FCs can get when a lot of people who like the same topic are talking at the same time.

Why does post count matter again? :huh
If the post counts or if it doesn't, it doesn't make posting it or reading it any better or worse.

Well let me ask you this. How would you feel if your entire post count was wiped clean, and you were reduced down to like 5? Would you care? If you wouldn't then nevermind, if you would then HA.

But not everyone is like that. Many people care a lot about their post count.

Sure, I like my post count, but it's no big deal. I'm a Senior member and have been for a long time, I don't need anything more, and I can still post wherever I want and be just as much respected as I would be with a post count at 50.

lol..
Sorry. But I also don't see any need in posts that are directly intended to raise the post count.
I mean.. Why the hell people came here for? To get some big numbers under their avatar?
My post count is pretty low considering that I'm here over a year already. But that doesn't make my time here less enjoyable..
Goal is conversation, not post count..
I don't even want to think of how many posts Kira Yamato would add to his crazy post count :(
I never check my post count. Apart from now when I post I'll take a look.

Post count does matter. It's a way too see how active someone is on the forum.
Like I said earlier, all kind of posts should be counted as posts, that would make many things much less confusing than they are at the moment, especially for newbies. It's not like having lots of posts give you higher respect or anything.

It shouldnt be raised because your just chatting.
Many members in the Chinese FC just say "Hi", or "welcome", so its useless to make it count. Its just spam.

Never gonna happen. FC posts don't count for a reason, and a good one. Like the people before me said, most posts in the FC topics are just spam, and have nothing to do with the topic at hand. In fact, most times, there isn't even a topic in FCs at all.
I've been at forums where FC posts counted and they had stricter spam rules. The way it worked: Someone would pose a question or a topic, people would reply based on said topic. But--if they went off topic even a bit, they would get a warning from mods and depending on the mod, they might have even gotten banned. People found a way around it, and just to get posts, they'd stay on topic, but only post maybe two or three word sentences. After that, the mods got tired of constantly having to delete posts and warn/ban people, so they went to the admins and post count in the FC section was erased.
Unless you want an FC section like that, I suggest you get over the fact that posts don't count there. Posts aren't all that important. Yeah, it shows how active you are. But some people with high post counts spammed their way there, so it's not even accurate to say that; you could be active and have very few posts, like a person who actually waits till they see a topic they're interested in to make a contribution; or you could be active and spam a lot.
Bottom line: Post aren't important, and they'll never be activated in the FC section. People have complained about this before and nothing has changed.

Not everyone posts completely off-topic in the FC section. There are many FC's where people actually discuss about the topic of the fanclub. And it sucks for them, because their posts never even get counted.

Yes. Not everyone, but majority.
And I don't see how it sux for "them".
If post is good then I believe they'll get good responses to it, some warm words and maybe even some green rep. Not counted as a a post? Meh..
