It was basically Ishida introducing himself and speaking in like a 10,000 word run on sentence about his past, with little comments from Ichigo, Orihime, Chad, Rukia, Urahara, and the final panel being a "Meanwhile" thing in soul society with You-Know-Who checking his watch, wondering when the hell Ichigo and company were gonna show up so he could start his evil plan. It was funny.

The last time we saw Kabuto was in chapter 238. We are currently on Chapter 288. That provides for at least 50 weeks since the last time we've seen Kabuto. Add to that the one month (four week) break Naruto took, and we're up to 54 weeks. And just add one more because it's felt so long.

... That brings us to 55 weeks without manga Kabuto. And considering that the anime isn't really worth tracking (in my opinion, especially after the filler spree), it's been a year... And three weeks.

I think I'll go cry now. I didn't think the Sai-Naruto conflict could drag out for that long...

YES! YES! YES! 3.66 GPA! Dean's List! This calls for a rep from everyone! ... I mean, a celebration!!! Here, I turned about a quarter of a chapter of my YKOTJ doujin into a little script so you could have a sneak peak.

Here’s a little sneak peek at one of the chapters of YKOTJ... I can’t wait to get the scanner. Note, some dialogue here and there is subject to chance. Today, Kabuto and Itachi have taken jobs reading to little kids at the local library. The name of the library happens to be The Local Library, btw.

Librarian: (Young and ditsy, not the typical librarian image) It was so nice of you two young men to sign up for this book reading!

Kabuto: We... we WHAT!?

Itachi: Oops.

K: Itachi, you told me that what I was signing up for when I didn’t have my glasses was a form agreeing to check supermodels for breast cancer!

I: ... I know. But I---

K: But you can barely see period, so you just guessed.

I: ... Yeah.

K: (Whisper) How are we supposed to read to kids if you’re completely blind and I lost my glasses?

I: I am NOT COMPLETELY blind. And just ask one of the kids if you can borrow their pair, I can see some.

K: Itachi, glasses don’t work that way. Mine were prescription. You can’t just put on any old---

He was interrupted by Itachi stealing a kid’s glasses, inducing 72 hours of pain on him to shut him up from crying, and putting them on Kabuto.

K: No, listen, I’m telling you... ... ... ... I’ll be damned. These are the same damn prescription. ... I’m keeping these.

Itachi sighed with relief. In an earlier story, you’ll see that Itachi broke Kabuto’s glasses and went though a sitcom situation trying to hide them. But enough spoilers about earlier ones.

Librarian: Okay, well, I’m glad that you boys volunteered so that I don’t have to stay here and watch the little brats for a while!

And she skipped out the door like fool.

K: WAIT! What are we supposed to read them!?

The librarian stopped, grabbed to books off a shelf without looking at the titles, and tossed one to each of our boys.

Librarian: Those.

K: Sigh... fine. Be careful of the flytrap outside--- oh, never mind then.

Zetsu: Shit, he spotted me spying. It was your fault. My fault!? Your side of us stands out more. Whatever, let’s just finish eating this lady and go report back. He/They/It/Whatever ate the librarian and poofed away.

I: Was that an Akatsuki again?

K: Yes. I do wish they’d just tell us why they came here instead of spying on us.

They then finally looked at the books they were to read.

K: I have “Harry Potter and the Magic Thing”. Book 8 in a series.

I: And I have... (squints) ... The... “The Holly Babble”?

K: ::Straightens his glasses, annoyed::. “The Holy Bible. It’s like the rulebook for western religion or something. I read it once, but when they killed off Jesus, I lost interest. Plus it was contradictory and implausible and---

I: Are you TRYING to get sent to hell?

K: I think that’s a given no matter how much I blaspheme, so I’m gonna at least have fun with it.

Kids: STOP DISCUSSING THE BOOKS AND READ THEM TO US!

As Kabuto began reading Magic Thing to one group, Itachi realized that he was gonna have to completely fudge his way through the Bible since he couldn’t see the words.

I: In the beginning... um... er... it was the beginning! And, there was this old guy with a white beard. After forming the proper handseals, he created the universe... and then took Sunday off.

Kid: Why’d he take a day off?

I: Nearest I can figure, he’s lazy.

Itachi thought he could clearly hear Kabuto muttering something about there being two blasphemers in the room... but he may have just been saying “Muggles suck”.

Kid: If Sunday is his day off, how come that’s the day when we go to church and ask him for stuff? Shouldn’t we leave him alone on his day off?

I: Look, kid, see your mentally collapsed friend there? Wanna be like him? Okay then. Now shut up. God then told Abraham to kill Isaac. How sickening, killing ones own family member. But that’s weird... Abraham Lincoln is Isaac Newton’s dad?

Kid: I think they mean a different---

Itachi: TSUKUYOMI! ... Does anyone else have a question? No? Then let’s read on...

But Kabuto is rather skilled at fleeing. He'll come up with an ingenious way to escape, of course! And maybe bring a few others down while at it!

And one last unrelated thing: Yesterday, after becoming completely "ZOMG" that Kabuto returned, I pulled out my GBA and started playing a Naruto game. And just stared at the Kabuto sprite moving across the screen for a really, really, really long time.

I maintain that Kabuto has the hottest sprite in that game. Even a lil' glasses push-up is included! AND that he's one of the hardest bosses. Incidentally, I got the game so that Naruto and Sakura were defeated by Kabuto... XD That was just fun.

Saikyou Ninja DAIKESSYU 2, that's what I was forgetting...

'Nyways, to beat him, stay close to him. If you see him powering up for his chakra scalpel, either guard nao or get him into a special. Alternatively, stick with Sakura and use her ^\/b special, to make all of your attacks ^^b. It takes a crapload of your chakra bar, but it's worth it in any situation, it's how I beat Orochimaru the first time around.

And now, excuse me while I try to figure out if I can hit the keys fast enough to do the special on an emulator.

Button smashing worked for me too. That and using all the scrolls I had. Worked efficiently enough; got the HP bar down by half before I actually had to start attacking. Then again, I think I may have had Kakashi's scroll on hand.

Sakura has awesome abilities, though. Those work too. =D

That's probably the only Naruto game I bought semi-legally.. XD Semi being the emphasis since I bought it in China, and goodness knows what happens there.

2.I predicted he would be back in Chapter 289, making a wild guess, and it turns out I was right
Bad news
1.I have to pick my loyalties between Kabuto and Oro.
2.Kabuto may possibly die within the next 20 chapters!

Now, there are also some questions I have
1.Was the Sasori, Sakura and Chiyo fought a fake?(That could explain why Sasori seemed weak)
2.How exactly are Naruto, Sakura, Sai, and the other guy(forget his name) going to beat Sasori and Kabuto?
3.Is the Orochimaru fake, just a genjutsu technique by the Obito-like guy?
4.Is Kabuto a member of Akatsuki or just a spy?

o_o I'm pretty sure that the one "Sasori" that's meeting at the bridge is the one team-leader. Yah, let's go with 100% sure on that. I'm near positive they mentioned it in a previous chapter; what the plan was (that particular plan, iirc, was for him to pretend to be sasori or something and get close to the spy).

Well, anything seems possible at this point of the manga. Although I'm pretty sure that the Sasori on the bridge was really Yamato and that the actual Sasori is dead. There would be no other reason that Tobi would pick up Sasori's ring... Or that Sasori would let him, for that matter.

As for Orochimaru? I do hope he's the real person. It would be overused to do another "substitution-like" thing; plus, we need a battle between characters we actually now.

I do hope for a fight involving Kabuto sometime soon, whatever side he may be on. It may well be worth any damages our medic-nin may incur. *laughs*

The next 2 chapters will probably involve Kabuto mentally breaking down Team Konoha, and will involve nothing but talking. The next chapter after that, is all Kabuto will need to finish Yamato off, imo. Kabuto usually finishes battles with minor characters quickly, i.e. ANBU members, Sound 3.

You forgot to factor in Orochimaru. Though after Yamato reveals himself, I believe Orochimaru would see that as an invitation to invade Konoha.

Ie: Orochimaru lets Kabuto get captured, announces war against Konoha for the capture of his subordinate, and kills(tries to) Kabuto in the confusion. Two birds with one stone.

You think that Yamato could beat Kabuto? Even if he was outmatched, which he isn't, he would just find ways to escape. Dead Soul technique, Kage Bushin, Kawarimi, Smoke bombs, etc.

1st of all, where does it say, that Yamato is strong? He's only an ANBU member, which means he's weak. Kabuto can easily kill ANBU members, as evidenced quite a few times. We're talking about a high ranked chunin/low ranked jounin versus an Akatsuki level ninja.

Ranks mean nothing, else Kabuto was only Genin-level all those years, remember? Yamato knows the Shodai Hokage's jutsus. They seem to be very well-suited to imprisonment.

I'd assume that the Shodai Hokage's unique jutsus aren't merely B Level. Kabuto hasn't even shown twenty jutsus, much less twenty A-level jutsus. And Yamato can easily stop a dead soul transfer technique because there aren't any dead bodies right now.

A most interesting debate, certainly! I'm curious, Luk: Do you full heartedly believe that Kabuto is going to die at the hands of Yamato / Orochimaru / Team 7 in the near future?

Let's weigh the possibilities:

Should Orochimaru reveal himself, assuming he isn't aware of the death of Sasori, he'd be risking two (or three, depending on what side you think Kabuto is on) things: Being attacked by Team 7, being attacked by Sasori, and possibly making Kabuto run away. Unless you think that he'd fight, our little medic-nin.

Should Yamato reveal himself, he'd risk being attacked by Kabuto and Orochimaru, although our Anbu has Team 7 to back him up. Assuming they can sense that he's in trouble over the wind.

Should Kabuto just remain where he is, Yamato and co. will capture him, or Orochimaru will kill him, or something.

Yeah, Yamato is in the best situation right now. Which is not to say that Kabuto can't/won't do something (seemingly) suicidal. Like jumping off the bridge to make an escape...

You know what I think would be brilliant? If Kabuto went back to the Sound, met up with Orochimaru, and each kept up their facade until somebody snapped. It would be psychological warfare then, as well as actual combat...

o_o One thing everyone is assuming here is that Kabuto has turned against Orochimaru. I'm not convinced yet that he has. Wouldn't it be interesting for Orochimaru to use Kabuto to get inside information about Akatsuki? Perhaps Akatsuki is the one being tricked by Kabuto and not Orochimaru. Kabuto is too difficult a character to ever place on a side really. He could, perhaps, have been working for Akatsuki the entire time; perhaps he decided to switch sides mid-way; or perhaps Kabuto is still on Orochimaru's side? People might disagree with me on this point, but I think Sasori woudl be a lot easier to trick than Orochimaru. I'm about to bet Kabuto is still working for Orochimaru and Orochimaru realizes that the Sasori Kabuto is talking to is fake. All we know is that Orochimaru is watching everything; not necessarily if Orochimaru followed Kabuto in secret or if Orochimaru followed Kabuto and hid to unleash a surprise attack on what they thought would be Sasori. Just some quick thoughts from me~ :P

But if Kabuto were playing the double informant, where we don't really know who he pledges to (or pledges his allegiance to both), that would certainly place him in a difficult situation. Each side would suspect each other, and they'd probably take their frustrations out on the middle man...

Kabuto's gonna be caught in the crossfire. Caught, if not killed.

What if Orochimaru knew that Kabuto was originally planted as an Akatsuki spy? Since Orochimaru was Sasori's partner, he would know something of that technique. Then, Orochimaru would always be suspicious of Kabuto, knowing that one day Kabuto's memory would be restored and our medic-nin would run off?

That would explain those times that Orochimaru seemed to taunt Kabuto. "You may be strong, but you can't kill me" -- there aren't that many reasons for Orochimaru to say that, other than testing whether or not Kabuto knew of the Akatsuki's plan to him. But if that were true, Kabuto's expression would have meant that his memory was already restored...

That's a very interesting idea Riykon. That would explain why Orochimaru trusts Kabuto but still said things like " he might actually kill Sasuke" or the like.

I for one do not know where Kabuto is at right now. If the scene is an act, if Oro knows, if he doesn't, I have no clue. I guess we'll all find out soon :P

As for if there is some sort of battle, I'm agreeing with Riykon, Yamato has the advantage for now.
Well, I still don't think Yamato is a match for Orochimaru, but Kabuto might cause some trouble for Oro if ever they were to fight.
As for Kabuto, yeah, I think he'd in trouble. (:scry) He's been playing the double agent, and he'll be in trouble if Oro wants to kill him. Team Kakashi would put up a good fight against him too.
Yamato is at an advantage here because he has team kakashi with him. Sure, we haven't seen him fight yet, but if Tsunade chose him to replace Kakashi, he can't be a weakling.

So yeah, don't bother reading the above.:P

Kabuto's got the advantage outside of the Mokutons or fighting inside the Mokutons, but he hasn't shown any jutsu that can actually prevent the Mokuton from trapping him, which is why I believe Yamato can beat him.

Orochimaru's not stupid. I believe he will let Kabuto off, at least until Kabuto gets back to his hide-out. Following Kabuto to the Akatsuki would be foolhardy, since they in all likelihood would kill him, and trying to attack Sasori and Kabuto means inviting the wrath of the whole Akatsuki.

Yeah, Yamato's in the best position. Kabuto won't attack him, Orochimaru won't attack him, he's basically got all the cards. Well, three of the aces. Kabuto's got the other ace and snuck in three more. :D

Orochimaru looked awesome. So lethal. And I didn't exactly note Kabuto's arms until this chapter... Oh! That's why his arms look so different! He doesn't have his standard gloves!

His arms look pretty strong... Smex. At least he took those gloves off, and the cloak. Now all we need to do is wait for Kabuto to take all the rest off. XD Little by little...

And my theory can still sort of stand! So as to why Orochimaru and Kabuto are on edge with each other in a trusting sort of way. Since Kabuto is liable to go over to the other side at any time. (Yay, I can actually claim something!)
