How exactly do you guys go about making those cool looking swirly, firey, diamondy styled backgrounds for your signiture?

Yeah it sux, try pixel2life.com, or try looking at some different pieces at Devart and imitate it, thats how i do/did :)

Or else you can try looking in this part of the forum itself coz there are some good tutorials on how to make sigs

most abstracts go with renders (which can't be made with photoshop) or filters - no brushing.
Just go to tutorialman, good-tutorials or pixel2life and browse for "abstract" - there are many tuts for abstract bg's.

that tutorialman.com was down, but the pixels2life.com was awesome, for more programs than just photoshop as well... some of the effects are outstanding...

Miso, how did you do the effect in your second signiture

well, i can kinda answr the question. in Miso's second sig, it looks like brushing, but correct me if i'm wrong, and yeah....you could always go to deviant art, and download some free brushes and mess around with it.

also, for some quality tutorials, try www.zymic.com it's a site that offers free web templates, but it also provides really good tutorials for photoshop :)

I often change sigs...which one do you mean? The Kiba one? This is brushing with abstract brushes...
