Just finished a tutorial for a simple smudge sig. This is very easy to learn and if you have any questions just ask me here in the thread.

thank you everyone :)

Kristina, very nice outcome. I like the blending/cutting of the stock on the left side and the details on the right side are nice :)

Suzuhiko, Make the left side a little lighter and make the left side of her face a little darker and it's very good :)

right side looks good, but the left side looks unfinished. Add more dark touches to the left and fix the stock. It looks squished from the sides.

And here is a good site for stocks.

yea, it was my poor attempt at blending because when i cut it part of the backround was still inbetween the strands of hair so i was trying to cover that up.

also when you brush in black, how do you brush, single pecks or the "hold and roll" technique?

Single pecks, hold and roll technique makes it too "crowded/cluttered".

One helluva great tutorial. For the longest time i havent seen a tut that actually gives me something to learn.

My outcome. Improvised a bit in the end when colorizing it.

I have problems on dealing with the size jitter & splattering thing. I dont even know what the heck it is .__.

Outcome:
http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n233/_zakista/Sigs/L.png

Skipped some steps *did not know what to do*. Tell me what's wrong with it. And can you tell me what's the 'size jitter', where to find it and the same thing with the 'splattering' thing.

And if you add the light source, do you use brushes to do it or theres another way around?

Meh, too many questions >_>

You need to make the righ side a little bit darker, and add more to the bg. It's pretty empty now.

Size jittering and splatter settings are in the brushes options.

I always use brushing when adding light.

It's very over-saturated. and the smudging on the right side is in some spots, rest looks empty. Try to balance out the smudging a bit and add more soft colors. I think it would look much better :)

Not that bad, but you've over-brushed the stock a littl bit and the lighting is very washed out imo. but text looks nice and it seems like you've grasped the basics of the tutorial :)

Nice tutorial! I'm still very new at PS, but this is what I could come up with:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v292/Mewlava/watchathinkcopy.jpg

:cry I'm very bad at choosing colors, very unoriginal and horrible at adding text. I wish I'd had more inspiration and motivation in making sigs.

Oh well, any comments would come in handy. :)

I'm doing this tutorial right now, but I'm having trouble with A) brushing/smudging the black, mine doesn't look spotty and cool, and B) gradient maps.

could you go into more detail?

Fonster Mox
12-02-2006, 12:56 PM
The tut was great, though a few things took me a bit to understand and I don't know what a gradient map is :grin

I made this (its the one in my sig now)... I'm not sure where I went wrong but I don't think it really turned out quite right :arg - I tried messing with it, changing a few things myself to make it work a bit better but still couldn't get anything I was totally happy with. Any chance of some tips? My first time making a sig from a tut :amuse

Remy LeBeau
12-12-2006, 11:51 AM
Very nice outcomes for first try's.

but this tutorial will not be more detailed, and it's not for beginners. If you do not know what all the things in the tut are you should probably check out some more basic tuts.
