Tonight, we get treated to a lot more of Chad's voice as well as the voice of the Parakeet, Kojima. And Yuri Lowenthal going psycho on Rukia as Keigo. Finally, stay tuned after the credits to see the english debut of Kisuke Urahara.

Wow, it's already been 4 weeks since dub Bleach premiered :amazed . Can't wait until I see it (tommorrow, that is).

Some of the voices are taking a bit to get used to, but I'm really enjoying this dub so far. I can't wait to see more.

How are the voices in the dub in general? Haven't watched it yet.
All the voices so far are 8/10 or higher for me.

It appears Urahara is voiced by Michael Lindsay, I perhaps might have called Kon wrong.

Urahara sounded very different, but still good IMO. He seemed familiar.
I like Chad's voice, as well as Keigo and Mizuiro.
Great dub for this episode.
EDIT: Michael Lindsay huh? It did sound kinda like Kankuro!

Yes I believe I was wrong on Kon now that I think about it. I'm not sure who it is that voices him But I am almost certain: It is Michael Lindsay. That is for sure.
I think that Chads voice was too deep..it kinda scared me, but the parakeet was so cute:nod I can wait till the next episode :laugh

Chad's voice is one I think I've heard before except I can't pinpoint it.
EDIT: My mistake, I still can't call it, I know for sure now it's not Jamieson Price yet is sounds very similar.

What I found funny with the episode was the LOOOOONG pause when Chad was talking. "Someone........................................... .....gave it to me." I just thought it was odd. It was a good episode though.

...You know, this was my first time watching the Bleach dub and as an avowed fan of the subbed version and Manga, I've got to say that it's pretty decent work.

EDIT: I just realized, they didn't westernize Chad's name.
I don't think they could. The mouth flaps didn't fit. The animation was
Sa-do(2 flaps) and about 5 seconds of pause Ya-Su-To-Ra.
It would have sounded really dumb if they did
"Ya-su................................................ ....To-Ra-Sa-Do"
And his name would have sounded completely different from what it really is.

I was somewhat surprised by the choice of Michael Lindsay as Urahara, That For sure I know is his voice. Me thinking that he was doing Kon was an error. But make no mistake that was him as Urahara. I'm trying to see if Jeff Nimoy will let me have a chance to talk to Michael Sorich (The Director of the show) to see if he will give up the ghost on other major characters.

Edit: it's over, I liked it. Very well done once again, chad's voice is a hard sell at first, but it grows on you and now I like it. But it doesn't matter who does Chad's voice, it's a hard transition either way.
I liked it though.

This is my first dubbed episode of Bleach. I have been overseas and did not have access to the cartoon network.
First off, I am thrilled that they used the same opening as the japanese version. (Naruto changed Rocks and I always thought that it was a stupid move.) Sado and the bird are the first significant characters for this particular chapter to be introduced. Acceptable voices for both of them. Sado in particular has a nice voice for his character. Looks like a good selection.
My first time hearing Rukia and Ichigo's voices is the famous juice scene. The scene is as funny as I remember. Rukia's voice.....something about it isn't right. When she was suppose to be over enthusiastic and clearly acting when Mizuiro talked to her....I didn't feel it. The juice scene would have been better if she showed more of a voice change. Everything had one tone from her. Ichigo was pretty good. No problems with him. Keigo is a minor character, but I thought his voice selection was excellent.
Kate Higgins is finally playing a role that I like. I never thought that I would see the day. A tremendous performance from her.
The explanation behind Rukia's drawings is funny even in English.
I am glad they stuck with Life is a Boat as the ending.

I realized that it was Michael Lindsay as well (hell, he's got a really distinctive voice), but we really need confirmation on who's doing who. If he did Kon in the preview before, perhaps they're just using him as a filler voice before they choose the official ones???
I hope to God that's true because he'd suck as Urahara. Seriously.
Chad, on the other hand was really good. I remember last episode I didn't like his voice, but I've already grown accustomed to it. Sure, he sounds about 40 years-old, but it really fits. Don't it?

I think the VA that plays Dosu on Naruto played the Hollow in this episode. The bird also sounded really cute, and it most likely was Colleen.
Once again, Kate Higgins proves that she can cry just perfectly.

The bird is cute. Some scenes he sounds a bit like a girl, though. Also, the whole rooftop scene had me laughing, juice bit and all. Loved the 10 second pause in Chad's explination of how he came by the bird. :laugh

Amen! I completely agree. She's horrible as Sakura, but AMAZING as Karin. I can't figure it out...oh well. Naruto dub sucks with just about everything I've pretty much accepted that.
Anywho...as far as this episode of Bleach goes, I am pleased yet again! Keigo's voice is PERFECT!! YATTA!!! Chad's voice is okay....not as deep as I would have thought but it will probably grow on me as the actor gets use to the character, like what to me seemed to happen with Rukia. The birds voice was cute and worked well. Johnny Young Bosch is still doing an amazing job as Ichigo...better than the japanese, I think. smile-big

I don't like dub Keigo nearly as much as I like sub Keigo.
I think you guys are overrating Yuri just a little bit.
another great episode, sado's voice is perfect
urahara's voice didn't sound as "smooth" as I wanted it to but I won't know how good the voice acting is till he has a conversation

Actually they're pronouncing Karin's name as it's supposed to be pronounced. If it's retarded to you then you're the one who's been saying it wrong.
But yeah, Urahara does sound weird. Michael Lindsay cannot possibly match up to the style and smoothness of Shinichiro Miki.

the fact that Kate Higgins does a better job with Karin than Sakura proves that everything that's wrong with the Naruto dub is all in the writing (translations) and voice coaching. In other words who ever created the script and is directing the VAs for Bleach is obviously doing a better job than the guy doing it for Naruto.
Sweet it just started here, I'm happy they kept the original OP, I think it's the best OP bleach has had.

Off topic: FYI, Naruto just aired Jiraya's first full-episode appearance (the one where Jiraya shows his perverted-ness full-force) and the entire script was kept INTACT, perviness and all. Also, they included the second Japanese opening, and I only saw one minor edit. To me, Naruto dub's doing better than ever (And btw, the person directing Naruto is a woman).
On topic: Some of Chad's performances toward the begining sounded... stiff, as though having that deep a voice affected his tone. But by the end of the episode, I was pretty much satisfied with it. Don't know how it compares with the original, but it sounds good dubbed.

offtopic: yea, if I remembered where I posted it in the episode 53 thread I would quote myself, but I said that I believe episode 53 to be the best naruto dubbed episode made thus far. I'm mainly just saying overall the quality of translations voice direction has been awfully inconsistent. Not to say that it hasn't improved since the first episode but it just seems the voice actors will have a good day with their VA abilities and then a bad day the next. For instance sometimes Maile will have her emotions right where they need to be in her lines and it'll sound just perfect like in the recent episode I really felt the Naruto, Jiraiya connection I felt from the original but in some other episodes it'll seem like her skill is off, episode 51 comes to mind where it seemed like just about everyone of her lines were off. Anyway even though they're have only been 4 episodes aired it seems the VA quality has been pretty much consistent in a good way in the way that Naruto is not.

I totally agree with you. That scene had me laughing it was so over dramatized.
Other than that I thought it was a pretty good episode. Chad's voice grew on and by the end of the episode and Keigo's voice was decent. I still perfer sub Keigo though. All the other characters were right on. Pretty good episode all together.

Yea, VAs have their good days and their bad days.
Also, you're right, while it took awhile for the Naruto dub cast to fit comfortably into their rolls, the Bleach dub nailed it from the begining (I have finally seen subbed episodes 1-4)! smile-big

Another great episode of bleach! I like Chad's voice and the parakeet was really good too. And good ol' Mizuiro and Keigo bringing the humor :laugh
I'm kinda iffy about Urahara tho...I need to hear more I think...
