^_________^ I'd love most of those kits! So little money though :( Is your Strike good? I'm still waiting on fresh paint supplies before I build mine. I'd love to get Sazabi next, but it's sooo expensive....I'll probably get MG Hyaku Shiki or Quattro's Rick Dias. Zeta rules, and so do those suits.

The MG Strike is awesome. The reason I haven't gotten Sazabi yet is because of the price, but I guess I have to come to the realization that I won't be getting it for under 80 dollars. I really want it so I can have it right next to the Nu Gundam.

I've thought about buying some for a long time. Too bad I haven't had the money :P
Been thinking about buying Freedom, Double X and the Impulse. That would land on a about $100 from Japan to Sweden, with shipping.

Stay well away from any Freedom that isn't the Master Grade - they're crappy. Compare http://www.hlj.com/scripts/hljpage.cgi?BAN919259 to http://www.hlj.com/scripts/hljpage.cgi?BAN926794 ^^; The first one, HG, cannot expand its 'wings' and hold out the cannons at the same time, as shown in the picture second from bottom on the left in the second one, MG. I don't see much point in having a Freedom that can't do such a classic pose :p (Although *waves pocket watch in front of eyes* you know Strike looks better...)
I don't know much about the XX and the Impulse models, but the 1/100 HG ones will invariably beat the 1/144. I've heard bad things about the 1/144 X models, but I haven't seen any myself so I can't be sure on that account.

The double X is a good model the only problem is that the back cannons are to heavy to have the model stand upright without help, I just wish that they would make a master grade of something from gundam X. And I have the MG Sazabi its a really cool model, took forever to build but it was nice. Anyone else here get the 1/60 strike three weapon system? thats a fun one since you get to change the packs on it plus it was easy to build. And the best part is combining the three backpacks so the strike has the huge sword in one hand and the huge gun in the other with the aile pack on
Chillin

I wish I did have the Strike Weapon System. Unfortunately the downside to the MG Strike is that it only comes with the Aile pack. If the MG Strike came with all three weapon packs that would have been awesome. I wouldn't really mind shelling out the extra cash for it. And yeah the MG Freedom is awesome. I had the HG 1/100 Freedom and it does not compare to the MG Freedom. The MG is proportioned better and doesn't use crappy stickers for the wings (matter of fact the HG doesn't even give you all the stickers you need). Unfortunately the only downside to the Freedom MG (mine at least) is that some of the dry transfers say "Phase Shit Armor" instead of "Phase Shift Armor", I can't make these things up folks.

*Laughs manically* You can't be serious?! That is utterly fantastic, I'd put them on just for the novelty value.
I was wondering, do the 1/100 HG Strike weapon packs fit the MG? Admittedly it would be a bit expensive to shell out for them just for the weapons but it would be nice to consider, anyway. Sword Strike is awesome.

Revival no Jutsu!
Gundam models, discuss!
I wanna here from anyone who has a 1/100 Impulse model - Sword or Force. Obviously, I want one, but because it won't be Shinns for much longer I'll save my money if they're a pile of crap.

:laugh OMG, you're the best, thank you I was just so lazy I didn't even feel like using the search function.
Anyway I haven't gotten the Sword Impulse yet, but I guess for what it is the Force Impulse is a good buy. You can assemble it sort of like in the show. With the Force Sillouhette, Leg Flyer, and all that. I think it is better than the 1/100 Aile Strike from Seed. Only thing is I wish it came with a display stand like some of the newer MGs. I'll probably buy the 1/100 Sword Impulse next week (birthday!) and I'll tell you how it is. I would buy the 1/60 Force Impulse, but I don't trust 1/60 models that are not PG plus like the 1/60 Freedom it looks kind of bulky.

It really depends, I think the most I've paid for a model was 75 dollars which was the MG Nu Gundam. I'm kind of mad because I realize now I could have gotten it cheaper. I usually LOAD UP on models during conventions where I find them the cheapest. On occasion I will go to the local hobby store and pick a couple up like I will probably do next week. Usually I see the high end models (MG and PG) about 10-30 dollars cheaper at conventions than I do elsewhere. If there is one big model I will get before Otakon it will probably be Ex-S Gundam. I've been waiting quite a while to get a deal on the Sazabi.
Kiba-kun
06-11-2005, 03:51 PM
Ex-S is horribly proportioned, judging by the photos, but it'll certainly be a challenging build. I'd get it myself if I had the money.

it depends... 1st grade kits are the most abundant ones... they go for 200-400 Philippine Pesos (US$ 1 = Php 54... do the math...) then 1/144 HG kits go for Php500-900. the 1/100 HG cost arround Php1K-2.5K... then MG's (the only MG kit i have seen so far is the MG strike and the MG RX-78-2) is arround Php3k-5k haven't seen PG's yet but they say that only speciallty stores here have them... and they get those directly from japan... i costs arround Php10k

For me from Japan (HLJ) shipping would be like 200SEK, and that's about, uhm... $30 I think. So it's not very expensive I think. Of course, the shipping price is affected by how big the actual package is (weight, size), if you order like 2 MG models and a PG model, of course it's gonna cost alot more in shipping than if you bought 2 HG models and 1 MG model, since they are smaller, and lighter.

so far, i only have a 1/144 deathscythe custom, an SD wing zero and rx78gpo2a, and 1/100 models (HG of course) of V2 and wing zero. ive been really wanting to get the 1/60 of freedom, wing zero custom, and strike. i wonder, does the 1/60 model of the strike system fit the 1/60 MG of strike? oh, and i want to get the 1/60 of rx-78gpo2a. the bazooka of it is so insanely huge....

All MGs are 1/100 scale. The 1/60 Strike weapon system fits the 1/60 scale Strike (it comes with the model anyway). The PG Strike is also 1/60 scale, but the weapon packs are not meant for that model. The PG Sky Grasper that is coming out will come with the Aile Pack that you can put on your PG Strike. The MG Strike only comes with the Aile Pack, but to me it's a much better buy than any of the 1/100 HG Strikes.

06-12-2005, 01:55 AM
oh. my bad. i didnt mean master grade. i meant perfect grade. does the 1/60 striker pack system fit the perfect grade of strike. the 200 dollar one....whats this about a perfect grade of freedom not being made? i went searching, and all i saw was a "big and high detail" 1/60 scale model. i was like wtf?
Chillin
06-12-2005, 01:58 AM
The Strike weapon system does not fit the PG Strike. It is meant for the regular 1/60 Strike Gundam. The PG Strike comes with that sweet looking sword and the knives. The PG Sky Grasper coming out will have the Aile pack that you can attach to the PG Strike.

PG's are not that accessable here... but i might be able to pull some strings with one of my classmates... one of my classmates own the firm that directly imports the gundam kits from bandai japan... so i might be able to get my hands on PG's... the only problem is the price... i only get Php1,250 allowance every week... and it ain't enough even for an MG... i can get 1/100 HG's but that would drain my allowance... nevertheless, i want all seed mobile suit kits... even the astrays, ginns, and daggers... maybe ill purchase arround 3 each of 1/144 1st grade of those ms then get 1/100 HG for others... then get 1/60 PG for strike, freedom, justice, S-Freedom, and I-Justice... the kit that i want to get right now, a Blue Frame Astray Second L kit... the huge sword looks cool... :laugh

I really do hope they make a PG version of the Strike Freedom. I would definitely pick that up. I also want an MG Strike Freedom and Infinite Justice and with Infinite Justice the display stand would allow you to pose it with the backpack unit on I. Justice's feet or on it's back. That would be so awesome. As a matter of fact every model from now on should come with a display stand. I would not mind paying a bit more for the models if they came with the stands since you can put your models in the coolest of poses with them.

Couldn't agree more - it looks like bandai is beginning to realize that, what with the 1/144 HG Gouf Ignited coming with one and the 1/100 Destiny looking likely to be packaged with one.

I have the SD Freedom, but I have yet to build it (I just got it). What I can say is that it is very, very simple to build. It comes with a few polycaps, and a few stickers. It isn't nearly as accurate in color as the HG, MG, or PG models of course, so a little coloring is in order. Since they are so small though, it won't take much to make it look accurate.

Yeah I agree with you...well other than liking it more than Freedom, but you already knew that. I bought the HG 1/144 Saviour because I liked the design quite a lot and I thought it was wasted with Athrun, so I will forever immortalize it by assembling the model and placing it along my other models. I was just thinking if they were to make a 1/100 HG Saviour with a display stand I would buy it, assemble it, take off all the limbs, and place it next to my MG Freedom that will have the "Kaiten Kenbu" stance similar to how it did when it cut Saviour in to pieces. I will recreate that famous scene.

This is the only Destiny Gouf model out. Although I hope they release the blue one. If they don't I'll have to settle for the orange one ><
I read that the 1/100 Force Impulse isn't that good but eh... thats just one person's view lol
I'm just waiting for Blast...if they don't release Blast Impulse I might just get Sword :wink ..really want Blast though :laugh
w00t! Gouf Ignited! i'll take the orange one... maybe if i wanna recreate S-Freedom fighting tons of that ill paint them blue and leave one orange... that is if i can afford them... :scry (1-2 more years in college and i'll have a job! I hope i can buy them by that time...) hahaha! I can't wait to get my hands on I-Justice and S-Freedom! i always liked the Med-Short range suits like Justice and gouf... saviour ain't in that category but it still kicks ass...
btw: thanks for the info about Force Impulse... i searched the net and found out that it is indeed a bad model... i seems to have problems because of the Core block system... (UC terms... ^^ dunno how they call that in CE...) so i think i'll definitely get Astray Blue Frame Second L this time... thats arround Php2k here... i'll be having a hard time saving for this one...

Gaaah, it looks like I'll be hunting on Ebay for Destiny and Strike Freedom then. Can't wait for them!

Yeah the blue frame is a good model
better than the other 1/100's I had =)
Although on mine the sword didn't close all the way but now it did so other than that its pretty good.
I didn't panel line mine though ...i only did the face
I should do it though...but its so big and im so lazy lol
But even if you don't do anything to it...it still looks good
I say its worth getting too haha

sicne it comes with a stand I'm gon get that over the 1/144 HG
and maybe I'll get the 1/100 S-F too, but I'm probably just going to get the 1/144 HG I-J...still doesn't seem too appealing to me to use more money for it
as for Legend.. I'll prolly get a 1/144 HG for that too

They always do stupid shit like this. They should make a MG Justice and a PG Freedom and Justice. I wouldn't mind seeing a MG Deathscythe Hell either.
Chillin
06-24-2005, 01:21 AM
Once they run out of variations of the Zaku II to put out (200 down, 300 more to go) they may do the other universes of Gundam (particularly CE) some justice with the MG and PG models. I'm hoping for an MG Justice as well with a nice display stand similar to the MG Freedom. With Justice you can place it with Justice on the glider pack, or with the glider pack on Justice's back. I particularly like how the glider pack fits on I-Justice, so I would prefer a MG of that over the regular Justice. MG Deathscythe Hell wouldn't be so bad, but I'm thinking they would do the Custom version like Wing Zero.
After seeing the list of I-Justice's weaponry :drool I must get the 1/144 HG model of it. If I see the 1/100 S-Freedom (seriously doubt it) at the con I'm going to in August I will push and elbow people over to buy it.
me_is_david
06-24-2005, 02:57 AM
a PG Strike Rouge....who the hell is gon buy that
well besides Strike Rouge fans but wtf..they're getting shitty with the model releases.
Releasing all this crap lol, trying ot build money I suppose cuz they know someone is going to get it.
I mean all the ZAKU's in 1/100 but the Gundams only in 1/144 for now.
the Meer ZAKU that appeared like once and never came back and most likely never will.
IMO a MG Justice seems doubtful, and it seems PG are only made for the most popular Gundams from the latter Gundam series', like Wing Zero Custom
So a PG Freedom would be likely, though I don't know why they haven't released one.
Also Strike-Freedom may come out in MG unless Destiny beats it in popularity >D
Which is doubtful cuz people would favor Kira's over Shinn's :sad

Yep, can't wait, I'm gonna buy a whole bunch of stuff
Ha-ri I would suggest the HG 1/144 Sword Impulse. I really wouldn't trust the 1/144 Blast Impulse as it is one of those quick assemble models with nowhere near as much articulation as the HG models.
The thought actually crossed my mind to buy two Meteor units and buy the HG Justice (since they already come with HG Freedom). I have far too many other models I want though, so I'll probably settle for one.
Added 6/29/05: I have put off doing the HG Saviour for right now until I can get some painter's tape. All I have is this scotch tape I use for the rub on transfers and the spray paint will probably bleed through it or something. I'm not painting all of it though luckily it's pretty damn accurate. Then once that is done I can finish inking it since I've already done most of it. Also I need some pure white for part of the wings (don't want to use the stickers). I have "racing" white and that's a type of off-white.

Because its big.
If you buy the 90$? METEOR model you can fit the 1/144 Freedom/Justice on there I believe not sure if its included, maybe Freedom.
They also have another smaller one that comes with a mini Freedom, Justice and Providence at around 20-30$ I think.
Correct me if I'm wrong.
I paint, build and pose and probably will never touch it again for another month or so to change the pose lol.

I'm new to the 1/144s, I just follow the instrustions. Oh and Can someone tell me the best way to start painting these models? Oh and for the 1/144 sowrd impulse can you do it any colors?
Kiba-kun
07-04-2005, 07:36 PM
Hmm.....ichimasu!
My tips for beginners. Firstly, use sandpaper or a file to remove sprue marks/nubs - those little bits of plastic left after removing parts from the tree. That'll make construction a lot easier, and you'll have less ugly seam lines.
Secondly, if a part is wobbly, then GLUE. Simple enough. Don't be afraid to glue any non-moving part. If you don't have a decent superglue, get one, or you'll be gutted when your best model falls off the shelf and snaps its v-fins (and that'll happen a lot XD)
Thirdly, get a mechanical pencil or an official gundam panel liner and get those panel lines filled in! It really improves the look of your model; trust me. If you're feeling adventurous, get a sharp, fine needle or a proper scriber and add your own, or perhaps some text - that's what I'm going to do to get the production number and 'Due' onto the 1/100 Destiny.
Next, paints. I'm personally a fan of sprays. I've yet to move onto an airbrush, but they're the best for gradients and detail. Sprays are only good for 1/100 HG and MG, where all the pieces are one colour each - I wouldn't deem them suitable for 1/144. For detail and for smaller models, use acrylics - any paint suitable for a plane model or car is fine; you can find them anywhere. Get a fairly small brush and some thinner, and get going! Make sure you don't have it too thick and obscure the detail with it. If you're painting a light colour onto dark, add a few undercoats of white paint first - it'll really help bring out the colour. You can find colour sets tailor-made for individual models as well as the tamiya sprays I use at www.hlj.com.
Finally, avoid the cheap 1/144 models. They aren't worth your time. Personally, I think the 1/100 models and above are best, but some are big fans of the 1/144 HG. I don't buy them myself, but some like their cheapness. I prefer to pay a few quid extra for a bigger and better model.

It looks kind of like the whole Zeta Gundam thing, with the extra long beam saber. Then I bit off Zeta's Hyper Mega Launcher when I thought up the name for S-Freedom's two high energy beam rifles docked together..."Freedom Mega Launcher". Yeah let's not get into that...
I mean like design wise it doesn't look like an MG. MG are usually more sleek. Even the 1/100 HG Strike was bulky looking compared to its sleek and smooth MG counterpart. Same with the regular Freedom.

Yes and no. Gundam markers are specifically designed for Gunpla, and on fine details. However, if one is very skill, as long as the ink is not corrosive to the plastic, it can be used.

I'm not quite sure, maybe the other Destiny models after that will come with a black display stand instead of that red one, but not the parts for the legs. The models at Otakon are cheaper. Destiny you could get for like 26 dollars without the shipping, same with S-Freedom. I would like for that guy to possibly expand on his description. Does he mean none of the others will have the display stand or action parts. Either way I guess this just means I'll have to get it now. I don't want to take any chances.
It does look a bit bland. Nothing a little inking and painting can't take care of. I'll snaz up the sword, give it a bit of that gloss/metallic look

Yeah 40 dollars for a HG model is a bit much. I don't want to pay that much, but considering Otakon is a month away I might not be able to find the first edition there. A red display stand is better than no display stand at all (and plus like you said there's always painting it), and the parts for the legs are kind of cool. The 1/100 MG Freedom is the best I've built from SEED/SEED Destiny so far. I would recommend that, but it's not cheap. Expect to pay 50 dollars (US) regularly. That being said I think it's an awesome kit.
tbd the price for shipping SAL from HLJ is like 12 dollars (11.89 to be exact), the exchange rate was right there on the page :P
can i get that at hlj? cause i can't see it in the MG section
Chillin
07-15-2005, 03:11 PM
At the moment the MG Freedom has been discontinued, but you should be able to find it elsewhere online (like Ebay). Usually the guys that sell them on Ebay also run their own stores so check those out if you don't want to use Paypal.

Yeah I waited like 3 weeks for my Nu Gundam to ship from HLJ, that's how long it should take for an in stock item.

I just ordered a HG 1/144 Mobile Ginn(Miguel's Ginn), Epyon 1/100, and 1/144 - Freedom Gundam, and I want to know what you think of them.
Chillin
07-17-2005, 12:00 AM
Not a bad selection unless you got the regular 1/144 Freedom. None of the quick snap 1/144 kits tend to be any good.
I just finished the HG Saviour (yeah it shouldn't have taken that long, but I'm lazy). Painted and inked the panel lines, it looks pretty damn good.

bleh..you know what lol, I'm probably (95%) sure I'm going to get Destiny for 40 some dollars.
blehhhh...so expensive but I must have it >(
I mean..well...i pumped 30$ of gas today so you know...its a little more than one tank of gas =D
lol
quite pointless but I jus wanted to say I'm most likely going to order Destiny

I got it from one of those sellers on Ebay. Love-figure I think. I also got my Qubeley MKII Master Grade from them months ago.
are you guys getting the hg kits????
anyone know an english site where someone did the pg sky grasper and aile pack?
The 1/100 Destiny I just ordered is a HG kit, but I usually get MG models. I have a few HG kits, both in 1/100 scale and 1/144 scale.
I got a question, How are the mater grades in terms of quality?
Second only to the Perfect Grades.

mg are more or less like the hg cept they are proportioned better and look better with more detail and come with an indoskelly not hollow like the hg 1:100 kits
me_is_david
07-17-2005, 10:41 PM
haha weird...I was...actually am going to get their's also
and yeah...I wonder what other models they're going to release in 1/100 and 1/144
cuz like... they have released like.....shit -_-;;
as for MG I duno, I haven't bought one yet. I'm probably going to get the next Destiny MG that comes out, which might be Impulse.
I was going to get Wing Zero ver. Ka, but the site I was looking at sold out haha.
Unless someone knows where I can find a cheap WZ
Chillin
07-18-2005, 01:44 AM
I hope the next Destiny MG is Strike Freedom, simply because I don't think the HG will do it justice in terms of sleekness and stuff. I also hope they make a Destiny Gundam MG, because the HG doesn't do that proper justice either. It looks dull/simple, but I'll hook it up with the paint and stuff :amuse . Matter of fact they should just do MGs of all three main Gundams from Seed Destiny (I-Justice, S-Freedom, and Destiny).
MG Impulse to me would be such a waste when they could release those other three.
I have my MG WZC posed on the top part of my desk. It looks so cool

07-18-2005, 07:35 AM
What i really want from Bandai right now are PG models of Freedom and Justice... and hopefully PG models of Destiny, S-F, and M-J... i don't give shit about the price... im after the quality... :amuse
me_is_david
07-18-2005, 01:01 PM
Well seeing as how they released a PG Strike Rouge.
Releasing something stupid might be possible, like the Impulse.
They won't make a Justice, I just don't see it happening anytime soon.
because I think they will only release the popular ones and Justice doesn't seem to be as popular as Destiny, Freedom and SF
the next SEED PG I would guess would be released is a Freedom.
as for MG I think they'll make a SF and Destiny eventually.
and btw I just ordered Destiny =D
there goes 45$ I'll never see again lol
GodofDeath
07-18-2005, 06:17 PM
they wont do any justice pg
pg are popular kits and usually looks really cool like that wzc with the wings
and dont hg cost like 25 bucks? never seen a $45 hg unless the meteor thing
me_is_david
07-18-2005, 10:43 PM
yeah 1/100 are aruond that price.
But this one was 28$ plus 17 with shipping from Hong Kong lol
It's a brand new Destiny model so I wouldn't expect to see it at many places.
HLJ and ebay are the only places.

Do you guys think there will be a destiny & or Strike Freedom MG? And if so, how long should I expect to wait to come out. I mean, How long does it normally take for them to make new MG'sI am new to gundam modeling so just wondering cause I really wanna build either of those mobile suits
Chillin
07-20-2005, 12:59 AM
MGs usually come out monthly or bi-monthly, though I haven't heard what the next MG will be past the MG Accguy (which is being released this month). I would love for them to make a MG Destiny and Strike Freedom, but for now we'll have to settle with the 1/100 HG kits. The Destiny just came out, and the Strike Freedom comes out next month. If you are pressed like me and david (and want to get them as soon as they come out) prepare to pay 45 dollars for each one (which is overpriced for a 1/100 HG kit).

Chillin
07-20-2005, 01:21 AM
Perhaps I've been too lazy to search around for a good deal on the model, but you can find it on Ebay or HLJ. Just prepare to pay more than usual and wait a while because it's shipping from overseas. If I wasn't tempted by that whole "first edition" crap with the Destiny I would have waited until the anime convention I'm going to next month where I could have gotten it probably 20 dollars cheaper. I'll get suckered in with the 1/100 HG Strike Freedom as well. I know for a fact they will do the same thing with that model.

phew... im soooooo tired... i finished painting... yes... i just painted my 1/144 hg Saviour... just like chillin did...:amuse and i tell you guys... its a huge pain in the ass to paint a 144 model...:xp it took me 5 hours to paint it... although its kinda dirty since i just used ordinary paint brushes since i do not yet have an air brush... i hope my next model will be easier to paint... maybe ill try astray blue frame second L... i think it only comes in one variant... 1/100 HG...:amuse
and i just want to ask a question for kiba-kun and chillin... what do you guys use in doing those pannel lines? what paints/tools/whatever would you recommend for doing those lines?
Chillin
07-20-2005, 03:17 PM
Yeah it was a pain in the ass to paint that thing and I just realized I forgot to paint the lower part of the shield, but I'll have to do that after I come back from work. Then I need to file down a part on the joints. I'm looking into getting an air brush very soon. For panel lines I usually just use those fine tip art pens either .01 or .05. I usually get black and a dark grey just in case.
Oh and to reduce the "dirty" look from the brushstrokes try applying primer before you go and paint it.

07-21-2005, 01:30 AM
The regular 1/100 kits and 1/144 HG kits are supposedly of the same quality. The only difference is the size.
Oh and I haven't received an e-mail from the seller yet david.

07-21-2005, 03:04 AM
well based on my experience with 100 and 144 hg models, they are almost the same... only a few factors differ them from each other... factors such as size and i think in number of components... i can't say anything about painting 100 models because i was 10 when i got my only 100 model... but as far as 144 models are concerned, they are a huge pain in the ass to paint..:notrust

Just ordered a First Production Destiny 1/100. Couldn't resist a stand and MG leg posability. ^_^
Other news - HG Dom Trooper released at the end of the month (YAY!), 1/100 Strike Freedom (first production coming with a blue stand; character card features Kira and Lacus), HG Infinite Justice, and HG Gouf Ignited Production Model released in August, and HG Legend Gundam and HGUC Hazel Kai released in September. PG Strike Rouge out before the end of the year.

Anyone else think the 1/100 Strike Freedom looks, to be frank, awful? The head is horribly proportioned, and the guns are just way, WAY too big. They look so silly. >.<;; Still, couldn't expect much, thinking back to the last one. Shame, seeming as the Destiny looks so good.

Oh god I hope they fix the proportions on the S-Freedom. I KNEW this would happen (really I did, check out one of my earlier posts). Ah well I'm still getting it, and then I'll just hope for a MG version. The MG version of the Freedom was perfect (proportion wise and everything else) so I would expect a MG Strike Freedom to be no different.

anyway nice pics...I want that GOUF ...I was hoping they would release the blue one cuz I prefer that over the orange =D
and yeah...I duno what...but the S-F looks weird.
The fins dont seem long enough for that head and the guns are like wtf.
Maybe they just positioned it wrong =/
but just like Chillin ....I'm still getting one hahaha
but the Destiny looks good in that picture =D

Oh yeah and I just so happened to say that the S-Freedom would come with a blue display stand to one of my AIM buddies (I was ranting about how they better not do a first edition S-Freedom), and looking at the pic I'm right. Yeah that doesn't look as bad as the other one, but the CG they use for the Destiny and S-Freedom look bad compared to the other boxes. I wonder if the Dragoons can come off? The 1/144 NG I don't think they came off.

is it true you can buy a haro? my friend told me about it....

They probably can.
I dont have a Providence nor have I see its DRAGOONs come off but they probabgly could since its a big scale.
I compare to Providence cuz they both have DRAGOONs =P
haha and yeah...1/144 NG SF can't do shit...in fact the arms and legs dont even bend on NG so i wouldnt expect the dragoons to be able to come off.
but yeah.. the CG are utter crap...Destiny and SF have the worst boxart in all of Destiny models (1/100 and 1/144).
IMO I thought all of them were pretty good...best I've seen even the NG have better art lol.
Oh well, I hope the 1/144 HG art is good.
They havent disappointed yet so I'm sure it'll look good.
and does anyone have info on the 1/144 HG releases? besides the other GOUF and DOM
I believe the last one was Heine's GOUF and before that was Abyss (which I have -_-)

Yes that's definitely the NG model of the Freedom. Make sure you get the MG Freedom though, that's a pretty awesome model and probably my favorite MG out of the ones I've built. Maybe a little of that has to do with my love of the design, but it really is a great kit.
It all depends on what RX-78 MG you're talking about. I would suggest either the version 1.5 or the Katoki version. The OYW version looks pretty good, but I wouldn't know anything about that.
Oh whoops RX-79 you said...I haven't built it myself, but from what I've heard it's a solid kit.

i dunno if its just me, but that first pic of the 1/100 freedom looks really weird. as if it was an action figure model than an actual model....i dunno if its just me. maybe its because it doesnt have the black outlines....speaking of which, for you guys who touch up intensively, what do you use to outline the gundam in black?

i don't like the 1/100 hg S-F... just as Chillin and kiba-kun said, the head and riffles were totally out of proportion... i hope they change it when the full retail version/MG version comes... and i just want to comment on S F's dragoons... they seem to be slip ons that kinda lock themselves to place in the wings... wouldnt they fall off when they become worn out? that would be very bad for my case since im fond of changing my model's poses every once in a while...:amuse

if they do get loose and yeah I tend ot change their stance a couple of times too.
I'll just put the funnels up with wires or something like that other pic i posed earlier =)
S-F looks good though...I want one lol..but I can wait for it.
Unless they got a "first edition" crap like the Destiny then I'm gon have to get it.
and yeah for panel lines (black lines) I use a fine tip gundam marker which I got for free when I bought 4 1/100 kits in Taiwan.
or you could use a mechanical pencil...I haven't tried it but I will soon haha.
either on my Destiny or on an older model.
but man..I keep hearing about MG lol. I really want to build one, but I duno which one to get.
I duno if I can wait for a Gundam from Destiny to get released for MG =\
And I duno if I want to get Freedom b/c I already have one.
same with WZC, so I want the Wing Zero ver. Ka
Question is does anyone know a site that sells the WZ v.KA for around 30-40$?
Like I said before, the site that had it for 29.99 stopped carrying it T_T.
How is the Qubeley MG, MG GOUF and MG Gundam Zeta Plus MSZ-006A1

these three are ones I would consider getting other than the wing zero but I duno how good these are haha.

I just bought the 1/100 ZGMF-X42S Destiny Gundam from Taiwan. I was thinking of fixing it up wth least time possible. I do not intend to paint it as I have no time and money to do so.
Could someone recommend me what to do to do a decent model which maybe do not look too plastic? (apart from regular modelling techniques like filling off excess plastics, etc)
Here are some questions I have:
1. panel lines using Gundam Markers. What marker should I use? black or grey? and how to efectively use them?
2. Someone at the store recommends using matt clear coat spray can to apply a layer of matt coat to look less plastic. Is it good?
3. How can I enhance the light saber to give it more "glow" and "power"?

bah I could've asked my friend to get it ...oh well
I'll get my S-F and others in Taiwan if i go this October ^_^
but anyway...as for panel lining most people say grey, however I use black.
and usually the lines are already there so you jus need to fill it in.
I'm not that great of a painter..Chillin can probably answer ur questions better
but I only do touch up paint....since I only have basic colors I jus use it to paint parts that arent the right color.
I haven't gotten my Destiny yet so I can't really give ways to paint it other than panel lining it haha :laugh

The Ball...a waste of money Kiba-kun? NONSENSE! :P Actually I wouldn't buy it either unless I'm really tight on money, and I'm fiending to assemble something.
Ex-S is one of the better big MGs out there.
Which Freedom do you have david? You should still get the MG Freedom. It is one of the better MGs around and the design is far better than any of the other Freedom models. That being said though I got my Wing Gundam Katoki for about 32 dollars at a convention. While I like the overall design better than my MG WZC you can't beat a display stand. I have the Qubeley MKII and Zeta A1 and I like both a lot. I have the Zeta C1 as well and I had a much better experience with the A1. My C1's back unit kept falling off until I damn near broke it by pushing hard to keep it in. There is no cosmetic damage, but it can't transform into wave rider anymore. I'm going to probably buy another one, but my recommendation if you go with a Zeta Gundam model make it the A1.

1. Black is what I use in a majority of my models. I don't really know how to explain to you where you should use it. I guess it would be as easy as finding a picture of a model and just pointing out where they used the markers for the panel lines.
2. I've never done that before, but it actually sounds like a good idea. Gloss paint (and to some extent flats) have the same effect (less plastic look).
3. Try using a clear acrylic paint (not the oil based paints they stink and are more of a hassle) to whatever color the beam saber is.

yah well I haven't seen many gundam series so iuno wtf the Ex-S is lol
ah okay I see what the A1 is now haha
I jus looked it up =P
Yeah I'll probably get that
I only have a 1/100 Freedom (i know I should get the other)

If I see the MG Freedom in Taiwan though...or a cheap one thats not 50$ plus madd amounts of shipping. I'd get it
But yeah...just checking my money now...I'll probably get the Zeta A1 as my first MG lol.
Question: Should I use touch-up paint and panel line the MG?

I was gon get that too before I saw the price tag on it X_X
If I'm gon spend close to 100$ on a model...its gon be a PG :P
btw jus to make sure this is the A1 right?
http://store.yahoo.com/matrixcollectibles/mg11msz006a1.html
I know it says A1 but you know...gotta make sure :laugh
also noob question...this probably takes a couple hours to days to build right?
1/100's usually take me about an hour or two to just only build the thing.

Yep, that's the A1. The only touch up paint you're going to have to use on the A1 is for the gun and to replace those stupid stickers for the edges of the wings. All the other colors are 100% accurate (but of course you can still paint it :smile-big ). There is quite a lot of panel lining to do on it, but it makes everything look much better. Definitely consider at least doing that. The A1 will take you longer than the regular 1/100 scale models. There are a lot of little parts to it because it has a transforming mechanism and it has some inner frame (mostly the legs). I say just from straight construction (no painting or anything) it should take you 4-5 hours unless you're a speed freak. Then again, I've never really timed myself when I do models because I tend to just go into my own world. My next model is the OYW Gelgoog. I'll time myself with this one.
PGs are over 100 dollars, some are even over 200. MGs are as high as 125. They are only second to PGs, so expect to spend a bit more than what you have for 1/100 HGs kits when you start buying more of them.
Oh with the acquisition of this airbrush I was thinking of diving into figures/statues. If I can find a nice Lacus statue soon I may get it and give it a try.

Well I sat here for like 5 minutes deciding if I should press the "send order" button lol
37.50 all together....for a good MG thats pretty cheap
compared to the 45$ I spent on Destiny XD
but of course I got it...cuz I will probably eventually get it anyway
beh..I actually think I might ge this before Destiny because this place is only in NY so it'll get down here fast lol
yeah I know price and grade and such.
but I'm only willing to spend up to 50$ or so (base price) on a MG =/
Unless of course Destiny comes out ^_^
I know that wont get me much but oh well lol.
Maybe I'll get PG some day

Wowee, that shop you linked to is where I'm going for my Destiny soon - I was gonna buy that very same Zeta! XD Glad it's gone to someone cool though! Haha, small world...they'll probably have another anyway ^_^ Going on holiday (vacation :P) to NYC, so I'm gonna go there and pick up some kits. Already reserved my first production Destiny, and I'm probably gonna reserve a HG Dom Trooper and HGUC Marasai Chrome as well.
MG Ex-S is horribly proportioned and weighted; it can barely stay stable even with its stand. Looks nice, I guess.

Does anyone else have the HG Cgue? It's such a ridiculously nice model for that scale. Highly recommended.

Stupid question: whats HG stand for? Oh and whats a good MG to pick up?
Kiba-kun

High Grade ^_^ A good MG to start with would probably be something from the RX-79 series (RX-79, EZ8, GM Sniper) or a SEED one.

HG stands for High Grade
What MGs do you have your eye on? Maybe we can help you whittle down your selection. I'll check that model out Kiba. I'm planning on getting more 1/144 HG models even though my main focus will still be the MGs. I just really like my little Saviour inbetween my MG WZC and Wing Gundam Katoki. :amuse

Well I want one from seed(or detsiny), maybe freedom or that blue suit athrun was using to escape destiny and legand(forgot the name).

07-25-2005, 05:53 PM
Same here, they've really started to impress me recently. The HGUC Marasai is staggeringly well engineered, as is the HG Zaku Warrior/Phantom. I'm planning to combine a HG Blaze Zaku Phantom and NG Slash Zaku Phantom to make HG Slash, something which may never come out....won't be difficult at all, just need a full paint job. I'll show you the results when it's done.
Edit: Guy above: The Freedom is out in MG, and is a very good choice to get in that grade. The blue suit is a Gouf Ignited, currently only just out in HG 1/144 - another nice model.

Nice Kiba, looking forward to it.
In that case Ha-ri go with the MG Freedom. They don't have a GOUF mass production MG. You'll have to buy the 1/144 HG that comes out next month if you want that suit.
Next month I am totally racking up on models. I'll take a picture of all the stuff I buy at the convention and let you guys judge what was a good purchase and what wasn't.

07-25-2005, 07:12 PM
ok well then I'll start saveing for the mg freedom(half way there). Oh this reminds me, when I was little I bought two version of wing gundam from a store. I got home and started to build them. I mean these thing were so crappy that the NF freedom I got, it like a PG model compared to them(I'm totaly serious).

this might be offtopic lol
But I'm still considering whether or not to go to Otakon haha.
How much is it for one day?
I mean I live like an hour or so away from Baltimore, although you might be closer cuz ur in MD lol
But yeah...I'm still debating, price will make a difference though lol
but haha yeah..I bought Destiny from Love-figure also =P
if uchiha-itachi86 bought the one you were looking at, then its mine >D
lol but yeah..dont they have more Zeta's o_O
I would go to NY too but ...3 hours just to pick up some models isn't really worth it XD
bleh...maybe I shouldve gotten the WZ v.Ka also lol
at least it will combine shipping...buit that'd mean I used 100$ on models in one week lol
I already spent 82.50$ on Destiny and Zeta
and woohoo shipped already haha

I think this year they are doing things a bit different. From now until August 12 it will be 50 dollars. It covers all three days of the con (no day specific registrations now). After that it will be 55 dollars. I registered way back in February at another convention (Katsucon). I'm staying at a hotel all three days. No way I'm driving back and forth from the con. I live like 45 minutes away; I'm really close to DC.

I'm further =P since I moved I'm an extra 20 min away lol
beh....although 50 for each day is cheap I still duno lol.

I haven't seen the schedule for this year's Otakon, but if it's anything like the last two then I'll always have more than enough to do. Right now without a schedule though the only thing I know that is a definite is hanging out with my friends and buying stuff.
lol off topic like a MFer
I was thinking of actually getting a 1/144 NG kit to test out my airbrush. The hobby shop by me sells quite a few. I saw the NG Destiny there, so I might buy that and give the airbrush its first project. I won't care if I mess it up considering I will have a much better HG version soon, plus the NG is only like 9 bucks.

oh well who cares lol...it seems we're the ones who post the most frequent in this thread as of late =P
anyway yah...i practiced my painting on an LG too haha
at least you have a shop near you lol,
well, then again so do I lol
My friend owns an anime rental/merchandise shop in Dulles Expo (if you heard of it) and he gives me stuff for stock price so I can get it too actually =\
but thats the only store around her ehaha, every other place jacks up their prices like crazy.
AnimeFX in Springfield Mall (if you heard of it) has 1/100 Blue Frame Second L for 45$ lol
I try not to buy stuff around here since the prices are crazy
and my friends shop dun got the recent releases, only whatever been released in US so he only got SEED and MSV stuff.
There was this one store i went to but it seemed quite expensive but they got sorta new stuff too.
Maybe I should've waited to see if they'd get Destiny, since they got Lunamaria's ZAKU like 2 weeks after it got released so =/
anyway woohoo my Zeta has an estimated arrival day of 7/27 ^_^
which is technically tomrrow now.

3. Try using a clear acrylic paint (not the oil based paints they stink and are more of a hassle) to whatever color the beam saber is.
http://acedia.web.infoseek.co.jp/toy/100_destiny.html
Here I can see a very clear lines where I can do panel lining.... so close and detailed. So I hope this will help you guys as well... :wink
but I noticed:
apart from black lines, there is a hint of grey lines as well, esp near the edge of the skirt... hmm..
Apart from painting, can I use gloss spray can to spray a coat of gloss into the beam sword to make it glow? just curious...:cool
What other suggestions you guys have to make a decent looking model without painting? (Too expensive and time consuming)

30# HG Infinite Justice Gundam 1/144 "Pre-order"

Just do panel lines and touch up paint (for any colors that are inaccurate or use stickers) if you want to make it look as good as possible using as little effort as possible. It should actually look really good after you do the panel lines and touch ups. Oh and for god's sake please paint that sword. Give it a glossy look so it shines :amuse

Try to find some clear color gloss acrylic paint. My local hobby shop has some, so check yours out as well. If you don't have one I suppose I can try to find a website for you where you could order the paints (they should cost no more than 3 dollars a bottle since they are small).

No problem, and welcome to the forums! The only models for Destiny and S-Freedom out right now are the 1/144 No Grade models and the 1/100 High Grade models. No announcement has been made as of yet for a Master Grade release of any of the models. The 1/100 HG Destiny just came out. You can find it on Ebay, HobbyLink Japan, and various other sites. The 1/100 HG S-Freedom doesn't come out until August 6th.
Edit: Just wanted to say this thread has gotten quite popular. I'm glad I can come in here frequently and discuss one of my favorite hobbies with people.

Going down the line HG models are third to PGs and MGs. They lack the detail and sleekness of most MG models. They aren't bad by a long shot though. Think of a HG model as something for the average builders and experienced builders alike who want to be kept busy for a weekend.

Yeah, s'nice to see how much this thread (and this whole sub-forum) has grown.
S-Freedom out as early as August the 6th? Wow, that's damn quick. I wonder if that shop in NY will have it then? That's the exact day I'm visiting them :P If they do, Bandai's lucky, because it's the only time I'd bother getting the blasted thing. Still can't get over how disappointing it looks. So weird, considering how good the rest of the line has been....why, why, why do both the 1/100 Freedoms have to be massively inferior to ALL the other SEED 1/100's?
They're the most popular suits! You'd think they'd get SOME effort put into them! Geez. Rant over! *grins*
staradder, dya mean the 1/100 HG Wing Zero? That's a pretty complicated one for a HG. I've heard people call it a training ground for MG, but they generally didn't know what they were talking about XD Quite a nice model, with a LOT of effort.
