so you know I'm quite bored right now
so I decided to take a picture of Destiny again and my progress of Strike Freedom lol

http://home.comcast.net/~david.chen1/P1010019.JPG

I first took the one with the boxes because I think it'd look nicer lol
But then I realized that its a pretty small picture because of the giant boxes and SF wing span...which is pretty long compared to all the other ones lol
but yeah...enjoy lol...I know they may not look that great
I still need to do a couple more touch ups on them,

yes Destiny is holding one of Freedom's rifles lol
I didnt have anywhere to put it on SF so I had Destiny hold it =P

Awesome Destiny Kiba and thisbedavid!

@Kiba, awesome overcoat on the blue parts :D

@ssosuke, I guess people are gonna have to recolor I-Justice's parts with a darker red...

Look Saviour's parts were done right!

@ssosuke, I guess people are gonna have to recolor I-Justice's parts with a darker red...

yeah... i think i'll just use the left over red paint form saviour if i when i get justice... or maybe i'll have someone do colors from an I-J pic... i think it will look like purple-ish red... but not pink...

I plan to use my red Gundam Marker which tends to make it look shiny, I wonder what kinda an effect it'll have on I-Justice if I recolor it entirely. Its gonna take awhile tahts all I know. I'm gonna wait for the 1/100 HG release, I'm not too fond of 1/144 HG.

Kiba-kun
08-21-2005, 03:59 PM
Pretty much finished my 1/100 Astray Red Frame. Without a doubt, the single best HG model EVER. It's INSANELY good. All of you, get one now. It's pretty much MG quality. Which begs the question, "why aren't they all this good?"...

About I-Justice - the only reason I'd get the 1/144 HG is the stand. They'll probably continue to pull the First Edition crap with 1/100, and so if you get the 1/144 you're guarenteed a stand of higher quality than the ones included with the latest 1/100's.

I REALLY hope Akatsuki is the next 1/100, though. Love that suit.

Models were kind of lacking this year. First off there were absolutely no 1/100 Destiny models. All the 1/100 S-Freedoms I saw were all gone by Friday night, the first day of the con (keep in mind this dealer's room is HUGE with a lot of dealers). Luckily I bought those two before the con. A few models I wanted I couldn't find (namely the HG Meteor and MG Hyakushiki). I bought myself another MG Freedom because truthfully I messed my other one up a while back while painting it, so I figured doing my favorite Gundam justice was the least I could do. Other models I got include the 1/100 Astray Red Frame, MG Acguy, 1/144 HG Gouf Ignited mass production, 3 HG 1/144 DOM Troopers, MG Sazabi, and the 1/100 Sword Impulse. I forgot to get a NG model to practice my airbrushing on, but I can always go to the local hobby shop and get one.

My god...how did you get that lot home? That is a LOT of models. Wow. Must have spent hundreds and hundreds. Glad to see someone else has the Red Frame. I'll post pics soon. Really is one fantastic model.

Kiba-kun
08-21-2005, 08:25 PM

Is that Kenshin 17-19 I see there? o.O I didn't know they were out yet!

Kereo
08-21-2005, 10:10 PM
Hehehe, I see an Accguy MG there XD
Accguy's are cool :D
Anyways, my second model (1/144 HG Saviour) is nearing completion! I also ordered one 1/144 HG Dom trooper, and some panel line markers. I thought one of the marker kits I ordered with my initial order had one, but its to big, so I kinda messed up Saviour abit ;-;

Ohwell, it still ain't all THAT bad considdering its my second model.

me_is_david
08-21-2005, 10:28 PM
i believe the kenshins are 15-17 lol

and OMG I HAVE THAT MODEL lol
first thing I saw while it was loading...the Maya figure, I was like "haha I have that"
Might get the Aya also but I wanted to try to get one with her anime hair color
but I can wait because my friend's shop has like 3 of them...his Maya's get sold out pretty quick lol, but no one buys Aya much T_T..no love for her

and he also has those kenshin figures too..I was going to get Enishi Yukishiro, although apparently not many people like him o.o

and wow....you really got 3 DOM's :huh
but still good, when you make the Sword Impulse, a DOM and GOUF let us know how it is =)
cuz I'm planning on getting those haha

im sure all that stuff cost a good 100-200$

and yeah Kiba, since he went by car tis not hard to fit all that
all that would probably take out 1/2 of my trunk...and I have an Accord lol

but yea dude..nice haha
I see Ikkitousen and scrapped princess figures haha...and a yuffie =)

I would've probably only gone for the merchandise lol
but its like paying 50$ to go and buy stuff which is kinda dumb =/
and I found out that this year was Puffy AmiYumi and I don't even think they make anime music lol
but I dun like them anyway =/...so I don't regret not going lol

correction: it said on ANN they did not perform...
so uh...Chillin..who performed? lol
and yeah they do music for Pokemon and SD Gundam...which I guess can be anime? =/

Chillin
08-21-2005, 10:56 PM
The Indigo performed. They've done songs for Ai Yori Aoshi and Someday's Dreamers. All together everything cost me about 900 dollars. I had money set aside especially for Otakon. I'm wondering which model I should start first. I still have Destiny, S-Freedom, OYW Gelgoog, and Ex-S to do in addition to what I got over the weekend.

Oh heh I don't really like Aya much, but I thought I kind of needed her to compliment the Maya figure. Aya is by no means ugly or bad to look at though :smile-big

me_is_david
08-22-2005, 12:29 AM
holy shit 900$?
are you serious ...thats insane X_x

how much did those models cost O_o
arent tehy like 15-40$
but yeah man ... you got alot of shit lol

haha I feel like getting the Aya model now =P

Start with the worst one first, and work your way up to the best, Chillin ^^ Then it'll be more satisfying! Maybe make S-Freedom first...or a DOM Trooper. I'd imagine you're gonna get pretty fed up making the limbs for those things XD Just make sure you fully appreciate the wonder that is Red Frame! Pics of mine up soon!

I think you should paint before you put everything together, and it depends on your skills obviously, but at least if you screw up, it would only be on one small piece of armor instead of a ugly streak across your gundam, lol. Depending on the thickness of your paint afterwards, you may decide not to paint joints and such because they may not fit as well afterwards.

Bandai usually allows some margin/space for the paint... do not worry about things not fitting... they're supposed to be painted and there is an allowance made with painting in mind...

@Hari
i also experienced that problem in the past... my uncle got a 1/100 HG air master gundam model for me. it was my very first gundam model so i did not know that there was supposedly an instruction manual... so i went on and built it... luckily, i did complete that model through 4hrs worth of trial and error... my advice, try try and look first what G/Burning gundam looks like... then take a good look at the parts... and determine which parts would most likely make up the feet, legs, arms and head... do all those parts first then everything else is for the torso... for the joints, look at where the joints are placed then find which polycap will fit in the joint... basically that is the hardest part in the trial and error. if you have experience in building gundam models, determining which goes to where will be easy... :amuse

Ha-ri

Yeah I could I can do teh head easy, I guese I'll try it. But I'll contact the people once more first.

Well if you're a lazy ass and want to put on the stickers (like me...) go ahead. But my friend has used paint on his gouf one time and it loooked GREAT! So suggest painting before putting the parts together.

08-23-2005, 02:17 PM
Yeah I'm gona do that probably, so do I just lay it out like so the parts are in teh right place? Wait but since I don't have the booklet how will I find out which colors I need?
I know this is a gundam modeling thread but does anyone know where I could find a model of the Delorean from "Back To the Future"?

now that is the problem... this is just one of my wild suggestions... try bringing the box... if you're just like kiba-kun that just uses sprays, i think you should just get what you need... thats G/Burning gundam right? so you will definitely need, a red, white, and blue... some yellow for the v fins and some neon green for the eyes and sensors(if your planning to paint them)... just use the pannel liner for the black details... or just go and by the green, yellow and black gundam markers... then go for blue, red, and white paints...:amuse but if you want to get the colors mixed as accurate as possible, you're out of luck if you can't find a manual... maybe you can show them the what the sample model in the side of the box...

08-24-2005, 02:34 PM
I'm just worryed about braking it, cause last time the gun on my Ginn broke so i tried takeing it off and part of the torsso ripped(but I but it back before it broke). And most of teh parts I have no cluse were they go. I can figure out most of the head, the outside of the feet, and myabe a bit of the torso. I'm gona try calling up the people and emailing them again.

EDIT: The guy made a mistake, he forgot to place it in the box to now hes mailing it to me.:)

Painting first, definately, or you'll just paint over the panel lines. XD

As for colours, it is ENTIRELY up to you how you paint it. You don't like the originals? Make your own colour scheme! Don't feel restricted by the box art. I tend to take the originals and just make it darker a little, but that's just me. I just choose what I feel is right for the particular gundam - e.g. Destiny I made darker, having a darker personality, and Red Frame brighter, being more comical. It's all down to you. That's part of the fun ^_^

LEGEND! I want Legend. And the 1/144 Strike Freedom. My Dom Trooper will arrive around friday if I am lucky, along with my panel line markers ^_^.

I will be getting the 1/144 HG Legend as well. I didn't like it at first, but Rey showed some skill with that thing. No progress on my models yet. I've been a little slow to go out to the hobby store and get a NG model to practice the airbrushing on as well as numerous paints I plan on using for the next few models.

Kiba-kun
08-29-2005, 05:25 AM
Whee, Legend! I hope it comes with parts to show the launching dragoons, like the HG 1/144 Strike Freedom does - then I can have a face off between them ^_^ And speaking of the HG Freedom, it looks a LOT better than the recent 1/100. Funny how these things turn out.

Looking forward to it, alot. :)

And regarding the post above.

That's a 1/144 right? If so, I gotta say you did a good job. Thoes things are tiny (regardless if it's a gundam model or not), so it's very hard to paint them and modify them.

I'll post some in-progress picture of my two models when I get them in the mail too. Then I'll probably review them or something. :P

Nice Saviour Kereo. I can only imagine how much of a pain it must have been to paint the whole thing. I only applied paints where the colors were inaccurate or where the model used stickers, and that was a pain in the ass itself. I especially love the gun, because I didn't even bother doing anything to mine other than painting over a little place where I nipped it.

On another note I have constructed Mt. Model!

http://img239.imageshack.us/img239/4/dsc001532wv.th.jpg (http://img239.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dsc001532wv.jpg)

some of my boxes are gone (like my 1/100 HG Freedom and Force Impulse) because I either threw them away or can't find them.

nice saviour... your turned out better than mine...:amuse although in the close up i think it looked a bit dirty... hmmm... well thats the standard problem with 1/144 models...:amuse and you even did the sabers and riffle properly...:amuse i got too damn lazy so i just dipped those in paint and hoped that they will come out nice... unfortutately for me, they didn't i can't put in the sabers because the holes got filled up with paint and my riffle looks like a huge molten piece of sh*t... apart from the dirty painty which a touch up can always fix, you did a very good job on your saviour...:amuse

08-30-2005, 01:53 PM
Well, it's not like it's the first model I'm going to build, just my first gundam model. :P

I've won a couple of model competitions when I was younger (around 10) for my models that I've built. And that was on non-snap fast kits, meaning, glue models, which is alot harder to build than snap-models.

So I guess I'll manage with these two models when I get them.

And I didn't buy MG just because it was MG. I bought them because they are both two of my favourite gundams, and because the Hyaku Shiki was sold out. :sad

Anyway, looking forward to getting them in my mail.

And Chillin, regarding the Nu Gundam. How tall is it when it's completed?

Also, did I mention I ordered high-quality decals for the Zeta? :amuse

Chrno
08-30-2005, 02:25 PM
Be cool if there was some..giant archangel model =/ i'd buy it in a heartbeat, after a long time of reading these forums and all that also decided to jump in the bandwagon XD; ordering myself a MG Freedom and looking into a good Strike :3 then working on the others little by little ^^.

Chillin
08-30-2005, 02:40 PM
The Nu Gundam is tall when it is completed. Of all the models I've built (since I haven't built the Sazabi or the Ex-S yet), the Nu is the tallest. The HG 1/144 Saviour comes up shortly past its knees. The MG RX-78-2 comes up to the middle of its chest.

*measures it* It's about 8.75 inches or 22 cm high. With the Fin Funnels it's about 11.80 inches or 30 cm high (sorry my metric conversion may be a little off).

damn....the S-F, Destiny and A1 Zeta look like one of your smaller boxes lol
although those 3 are my biggest ones..

I guess Qubeley is my biggest box. I love that thing so much XD It's huge! It's even bigger than the bloody FAZZ, which is quite a feat.

What are the biggest MG's then? I'll try and make a rank list of the top 10 or so! Correct me if I'm wrong.

1) Perfect Zeong
2) Ex-S
3) Sazabi
4) Zeong
5) S
6) Nu
7) Qubeley
8) FAZZ
9) Dom
10) ZZ

That's my very uneducated guess looking at the group pics on dalong...any thoughts?

And like I said, if can get a job again soon, Master Grade Freedom will be ordered in October. ^_^

Ofcourse, I would like a red Rick Dias, EZ 8 and Ground Gundam MG to >.> but lets not get to ahead of myself. Its already a small miracle I am managing to NOT be a perfectionist that thinks the models I made suck >.>

Likewise, I'm looking forward to posting here because so far, I've just been checking in now and then to see what everyone is doing. But now (finally) I'm going to make something myself.

Got to get myself a digital camera and take some in-progress pictures when I'm building the models. :)

Ah yeah, speaking of pictures I have one of my C1 Zeta that I did a while back

http://img148.imageshack.us/img148/640/c1zeta4ue.th.jpg (http://img148.imageshack.us/my.php?image=c1zeta4ue.jpg)

Went for a lighter, shinier grey than the original colors, also I went for a bit of an off-white with the "racing white" color, and gun metal grey for the gun. The blue is identical to the original color though with a bit of gloss. First time I tried my hand at sprays.

Great job, that looks awsome. Add some lines with a marker and that thing will be excellent. :P

Because right now (not to critizise you) the lines/figures on it are kind of blurry and hard to make out. Probably because the choise of color on it. :P

Nevertheless, a excellent model. I have a airbrush myself that has yet to be tested. :)

I don't even think I had panel line markers at the time (well I use art pens, easier to correct mistakes). This model is also fragile (even for a model), I heard the regular Zeta was even more so. Funny thing is the art at MAHQ shows the C1 in those colors. I looked on the site and thought "Ha, they bit off my colors" :laugh. Guess I'll go back and do the inking though.

Nice Zeta ^_^ I'm really tempted to buy the original MG and just fix the damn thing up; it's got so many problems, I think it would help me as a modeller to sort it out. Perhaps I will. I have a spare £50 (about $80ish) so I'll by some MG.

I saw on amazon.com they had some REALLY, REALLY cheap MG's. But they won't ship to the UK! Anyway I can get round this?

I'd recommend the MG 1/100 Freedom, MGs got neat frames that you can build on to. You can check the pics out at the site I posted earlier. I got 2 pics of mine here:

ssouske
09-06-2005, 02:42 AM
well as long as PG freedom does not exist, get the MG... the 1/60 Real detail is just like an HG with PG size... MG has a lot more detail in it... and it is a whole lot better than the Real detail... so in short, if you have money to spend, get the Perfect Grades... if the PG's do not exist yet, get the Master Grade kits...

cheers, just ordered the MG freedom from Ebay. Any tips on building the kit?? What tools will I need for the job?? This is the first time modelling

ssouske
09-06-2005, 09:35 AM
actually, you won't need tools in building... well maybe a good small cutter plier would be good for cuting the pieces from the plastic frame... sometimes though, it is better to twist them off carefully instead of cutting them...
now for painting, you might need several brushes... it really depends on you on the type of brush to use... then you might also want to invest in an air brush to make your model look better... then for pannel lines, chillin and i use art black pens... or you could go for the official gundam panel line marker... the art pens will need a lot of time to dry up... but you can easily correct mistakes if you kinda overdid your lines... if you do not want paint, then you can use the official gundam markers... just read a few pages back... there are a lot of great tips that we have shared about building and painting models here... and if you have questions just ask... one of us will definitely answer that question...:amuse

GD-01 MG Zeta Gundam Decal

Thank you very much for your business. We look forward to serving you again soon!"

I'll have that sometime next week. Looking forward to it. :amuse

But I'm wondering about how I should built them. Repaint the whole skeleton and all parts with spray paint (same, or similar colors to original), or simply build them as they are 'supposed' to be built?

The first option, obviously, makes the model look a whole lot better, but takes alot more time and money to make. Also, it's more of a challenge, which I kinda like.

The second option: A quite bland and boring way to build (if you ask me).

I got to check out the mold quality and stuff before I decide. But since it's MG models, I'm expecting them to be good (Tamaiya quality).

I tend to use a Sakura Micron black pen for inking. But if you find the marker is too thick for some, just let it drench into the groove. Let it dry a bit, take a small piece of paper towel and dab it in alcahol to swipe away the extra ink.

Kiba-kun
09-06-2005, 02:40 PM

And also, I've been thinking of getting a Strike Freedom, and painting it black/dark grey/grey/blue/yellow/red. I think it will look pretty cool. Just like the blackned out Strike Freedom when it was first seen in the second ED, I'll paint the whole gundam. It should look pretty awsome.

That's about what I did last time I placed an order at HLJ. I didn't have any problems with shipping at all, and it arrived quite fast.

I wonder though, the customs in Sweden has quite high taxes on stuff going over the border into the country, regardless if it's just a plastic model. Though, the rates do vary, smaller items (such as gundams) may not get alot of tax on them, but bigger packages get a tax of 25% of the item inside the packages price. A quite hefty sum if you buy something expensive and big...

Got to buy some paint for the airbrush. I guess I'll go into town and buy some tomorrow.

Hi I am new here.

I ordered from HLJ:

1/100 Sword Strike Gundam
1/100 Launcher Strike Gundam
1/100 MG Strike Gundam w/Aile Striker
1/100 MG Freedom Gundam
HG Freedom Gundam Color
HG Aile Strike Gundam Color

My question is is it smart to buy the colors? Or just buy tamiya colors and mix them?

Mindless
09-08-2005, 04:05 PM
Personally, I would buy the Tamiya colors, simply because they are a company known for their quality models, paints and accessories. But at the same time, the colors made to go with the gundam models might be good too, but personally, I'd go for Tamaiya's colors, simply because I've painted models with their colors for years with excellent results each time.

Got to buy some paints next week or something...

White
Yellow
Black
Blue
Red
Dark Blue

...and so on. Lots of money... ouch...

I have quite a few paints to get as well. My wallet will cry after my next visit to the hobby store. The Tamiya paints are so expensive (just for a little jar) there. I've decided to translate all the color guides with the help of a friend, so I can figure out exactly what colors to use and mix unless I want to do some custom colors. The only one I was actually thinking of doing custom colors for was the Gouf Ignited Production. Even with that I was going to paint it in Yzak's colors.

Hm... it depends on what kind of result you want. If you want complete perfection, no ugly marks from cutting the parts off the mold frame and that kind of stuff, I suggest you remove the part you are going to paint and use something else to 'hold it in place' while painting.

If you feel: "Bah! That small mark from cutting the part of the mold frame wont matter." -then just spray the pieces when they are still on the mold frame.

it really depends on you... if you want to color your model as fast as you want to, or if you are always hard pressed for time, do the markers... they are easy to use and they dry up fast... if you have time, you're on for higher quality and better color accuracy, go for acrylic paints... if you have money to spend, go for tamiya paints...:amuse

i dunno... i got 5 small cans of acrylic paints for Php150 (arround or less $3 $1 is Php56) but those colors were mixed specifically just for my saviour and maybe only a few of those can be used for other models... BTW when i say small cans, they're the 1/4 gallon cans of paint which is a lot compared to tamiya paints which i can get the for Php35 (arround $0.62) each. but you still need to add a lot of acrylic thiner and it is just a small vial of paint... and you still will need to mix up the paint to get the colors right... so just get which ever you want... and uhm... it will really depend where you get your paints... here it is cheaper to get acrylics, but there prices could be different... so uhm... check prices first... and see which will best suit you... and one last tip... get the more expensive brushes... usually, the bristles of the cheap brushes come off easily and they stick to your model... and they are very hard to remove without damaging the paint...

ok good luck in your project...:amuse

im quite disapointed with the model though... since it was the old HG release for MkII (Box says it was made in 1990. the current HGUCs were introduced in 1999), the model is not poseable... the joints are very solid but offer almost no movement at all... anyways I will not buy the quebiley from that shop since its also the old HG release of the quebiley... the only HGUC in that shop is the mobile Gyan w/c, to me, looks kinda funky, but i do not like it... and uhm... one more rant... the shield is way too loose so it falls off every now and then... well maybe painting the model will solve that... one thing i liked about the model is the number of accessories it has... it has the bazooka, a beam riffle, the headset like thing, and a beam saber... btw what is that headset like thing in the head of MkII? what is that for?

Just goes to show how things have progressed over the last 15 years! yeah... i've learned my lesson... god im so dumb at times... well maybe if i paint it and uhm... pose it like it was standing like it was doing nothing, maybe it will look a bit better... btw the gun hands of that model was soooo damn terrible... you need to glue it to make the gun/bazooka stay in the hands... somethimes the hands come appart...:mad So to all those who are buying gundam models, LOOK AT THE BOX... specifically the year the model was made, NEVER EVER LET THE CHEAP PRICE BLIND YOU!!! ok next model in my list should be 1/100 red/blue frame astray... it should take 3 weeks for me to save up the money... then 2 days to completely paint and build it... so i'll re-post in 3-4 weeks time? and i will also be busy doing other stuff...:amuse
BTW: Thanks for the compliment kiba-kun:amuse

THIS (http://www.hlj.com/product/GNZGM01) is what you will need for those pannel lines... the set you found is for coloring the model itself...

if you're having trouble in finding paints for your freedom, you can always go to any paint shop that sells car paints... let show them the colors using your manual... and they will mix those colors for you... just make sure you use acrylic paints...

well an MG for both will definitely come out... especially since the HG 1st releases sold a lot... as for PG... maybe we might see PG freedom first before S-F and Destiny... bandai sure do take their time in deciding to release PGs...

MG Strike Freedom is almost a definate, and I'd wager on there being an Impulse as well. Destiny I'm not so sure about. Depends on whether its popularity lasts.

09-20-2005, 02:04 PM
You know what would be surprising? If they totally surprise us with a MG Impulse that isn't Force Impulse, but Blast Impulse. I would applaud them for that. I wonder what the next new MG will be after the Gundam MKII ver. 2. Does anybody have some rumors that pertains to that?

I'm pretty sure there will be a MG Strike Freedom, since it has now (more or less) taken over the role as main gundam in Destiny.

On another note, I have yet to recieve my package from HLJ. But I'm expecting it sometime this week. If I'm lucky, I might even have it tomorrow. :)

One thing that bothers me however is... how fast is everyone building stuff? :oh

Some (most) of the models I have made have taken weeks, or even months to finish. Not because of the number of parts, but because of the end result I want. I do realize that Gundam models are snap-fast kits and dosen't need all that much time put into them to be finished, but you want a good result right? :S

When I well start working on my models, just preparing the parts for coloring will take time. First I'll make sure there are no ugly edges on all pieces, and remove them if there is. Then I'll prime all the parts with a primer coating. Then I'll spray the parts the color I want them, and then if necessary, I'll add a clear coat layer on some pieces. After that it's over to detailing (panel lines, decals, aging), and then finally over to assembly.

I bet my two models will take over a month, maybe two to complete, when I well get them. :amazed

Kiba-kun
09-20-2005, 06:40 PM
I take about as long as you on MG and some 1/100 kits, but things like HGUC and HGGS I'll only spend a couple of days on. I tend not to prime my kits; when I did, I didn't really notice a difference to unprimed, so I stopped doing it. xD

That dumb MG Hyakushiki with Ballute system is available on HLJ. I usually don't say such things, but if anyone here gets that I'll have to question their sanity. I mean if they really wanted to capitalize on the success of the Zeta movies I can think of a couple of other things they could have released (like a ver. 2 of the very flawed MG Zeta).

Mindless
09-20-2005, 08:05 PM
It's flawed!?

Oh my god! What did I buy!? :amazed

Nah, I'll make it good somehow. Or did you refer to the transformation part of it? That part dosen't really interest me since I will just pose the models standing up.

Chillin
09-20-2005, 10:05 PM
It's not sturdy at all, nevermind the (weak ass) transformation. It's just bad engineering on their part. It's something they fixed in the C1 and A1, but something I wish they would fix in the original design. If they can make 20 million versions of the RX-78-2 I think they should do the original Zeta design justice as well.

Anyone know where I can find a set of replacement hands (plastic, resin, I don't care) for the MG Nu. My hands are really starting to wear out which I don't know why since all my other earlier models have had no such problem.

Mindless
09-21-2005, 03:41 AM
Well, that is a completely custom made model, and that is very hard, to say the least.

Involves alot of trouble. Creating your own molds for the pieces, getting a good type of plastic to mold the pieces, and so on. It's a very long process, and it takes alot of experience when it comes to using custom made things. I don't think the guy who built that SD Freedom was a beginner. He probably have years of experience when it comes to making his own custom models. :)

But nevertheless, a very nice custom model. :amuse

I finally went to the hobby store the other day to pick up some paints. Unfortunately, Tamiya didn't have the colors I was looking for (nor any other brand). I couldn't find cobalt blue or indy blue and I need those in order to make the the Destiny's blue. Couldn't find midnight blue either, which oddly enough the color guide tells you to use instead of black.

Yeah, Sweden is part of the EU, so I'm expecting some taxes, but they are usually not too heavy on these kinds of things. At least not in Sweden.

Chillin: That sucks. You can get quite pissed off because of that. I paint Warhammer 40k figures from time to time because it's good exercise, and I remember going in to town to buy some paints. And when I arrive and check what paints they have. I don't know if it was god playing jokes with me or just bad luck, but they didn't have a single one of the paints I needed. :sad

Yep that's definitely the 1/60. The wings are longer and slimmer than the 1/144 HG S-F. Actually the whole thing is just better looking. The guns, legs, rail cannons, hands, head...everything is proportioned very well. Plus you can see the joints are a tad see-through because they light up. Save the Gaia rehash, all the latest models have come with stands. If they don't include one with the 1/144 HG S-F that would be stupid as it is more known for cool flight/mid-air poses than any other MS in Destiny. I have yet to see it with a stand too, but I think it does. Even the DOMs come with stands.

Pretty neat idea. Gets alot of thoughts spinning in my head of what you could do with parts from different gundams combined. I saw another picture of Freedom with a Aile Strike pack, which also looked pretty good. But this picture above is awsome.

Next month I'm going to order Strike Freedom and Destiny I think. I'm going to try and make a conversion: Strike Freedom wings and head on Destiny, and vice versa. My idea. (c)

Well... I need tamiya acrilic paint.. Cause I am following the airbrush thinning tutorial of fichtenfoo. That's why I need to know it. But I actually have another question. If you look @ the scan I don't really know where to put all of those colors. oke correct me if I am wrong guys. I will start with the first line. White: the amor, blue:phase shift blue, red: red of the feet etc., yellow: all the yellow you can see :), the last one of the first line should be grey I think: for the grey parts taht's isn't covert with white armor.
Second line:First blue: for the lense on the head, second grey-black color: the gun and for the armor schneider, the next two colors I have no idea and the last one is for the big ass gun.

And I don't know what it says on the fat black letters under the colors.

Mindless
09-25-2005, 04:35 PM
It's not like you need Tamiya paints for an airbrush. You can use pretty much any type of color you want, as long as you can paint with it. I'd do what Kiba-kun suggested: Take the color-chart to any good paint shop and tell them you need these colors mixed with acrylic paint. I'm sure that would work fine.

Another solution would be that you simply take a look at the color-chart, find a similar color, and use that. Not really that hard. :)

Here it is

I probably won't be placing my order at HLJ, I'm looking around for other options (probably japantoys or plajapan). I'll think of my order as a holiday gift to myself.

I'll think of my order as a holiday gift to myself.

I was thinking of doing the same thing. When it's released, it will probably take a couple of weeks to get it and by then, it will surely be december. It would be a nice pre-christmas christmas present. :P

But what I like about it is that it is unpainted (not molded in paint), which gives you a lot more freedom (...) to customize the model as you want it, which I think is alot of fun.

I am eager to see how my Nu Gundam turns out when I well get it. Hopefully, I should have it tomorrow, but I've been saying that for over a week now and no luck. :sad

It will be painted; the pictures previously posted were prototypes, and they always look like that. Would be kinda nice if it wasn't though xD

Hmm I can rundown a list of every Destiny figure and model I know (minus those G-Flex and Gashapon figures because there are a lot of those and I don't follow them)

MSIA Destiny
HCM-Pro Destiny
1/144 Destiny
1/144 HG Destiny
1/100 Destiny

rumored: Cosmic Region Destiny

ah yeah also there will be a HCM-Pro deactivated version of Destiny bundled with the HCM-Pro deactivated S-Freedom.

Right after I finish watching the last episode of Destiny tomorrow I'm going to test out my airbrush on this 1/144 NG Gunner Zaku Warrior (Lunamaria) I got. I'll let everyone know how it turns out.

does anyone have any info about the 1/144 hg duel assault shroud? is it good or is it bad??? i found one at a very low price(well compared to the recent prices it is low)... so im thinking of getting one... before getting the astrays... because im having a hard time saving money...:oh

It can't be that bad. Except for the earliest SEED 1/100 kits (Strike and the Aegis) I've heard all 1/144 HG and 1/100 SEED and SEED Destiny kits are pretty good

IMO the 1/144 HG Dual Assault Shroud is one of the better 1/144 models that I've built.

ha OMG I live in an apartment so for ventilation I opened a window and then put together my airbrush. I read the manual and it said in bold letters an open window is NOT proper ventilation. Looks like I'll have to go over my grandma's house to paint like I usually do.

Yeah after a month I e-mailed them about my MG Strike. Then they told me to wait another month and I e-mailed them again after that month and they finally sent me another one.

I hope this Zeta Gundam release means the end of the Zeta MG releases for a moment. They've released 3 Zeta MGs over three months (Hyakushiki+Ballute System, MKII ver. 2.0, and Zeta ver. 2.0). Now I would like 3 SEED Destiny MG releases; preferably I would like to see Strike Freedom, Infinite Justice, and Destiny.

the wizard packs have the same standard colors so just use what the manual for your rey phantom says...

as for seed MGs id like to see an MG Akatsuki with both backpacks... then again i'd be hard pressed to buy that seeing that MGs are a bit out of my price range... *sobs* well then i'll just pin my hopes on HGs till i get a job...

News about the Zeta ver. 2.0 from Gunota

Details from Hobbyworld on the new MG Zeta: the revision will take into account the PG Zeta and the MG Zeta Plus' transforming gimmick. The joint construction in MS mode has been gone over and things like a revolving hip pivot were added. In waverider mode, you can make a display with an included sliding catapult base, which can also be linked together with the catapult display from the Mk II 2.0 kit. Hyper mega launcher, rifle, shield, grenade launcher, and other armaments come with it.

Is it just me or will the MG kits start blowing the socks off of everything else? The MG Acguy...I haven't even built it yet, and it has gimmicks and a frame like a I've never seen before in a MG. The MKII 2.0 is just crazy with the posability from what I've seen. I can't wait for further MG announcements. Could the MG S-F be next?

Could the MG S-F be next?

Well, as I understood it, the Strike Freedom Flash Edition is the MG Strike Freedom. :S

It seems very detailed after all. :oh

Chillin

It does seem very much in line with the sleek designs of regular MGs. I just wonder if it has an inner frame. In addition to it being 1/60 (MGs are 1/100 scale), if it doesn't have an inner frame I'll still be looking for the MG release. If the Flash Edition is all that comes out though I won't be upset; it looks very cool afterall.

Agreed.

But I wonder. Which is it? MG or PG? :S

The sleek design and detail does remind you of an MG, but then there is that "PG" in the picture. :blink

It's neither MG nor PG; it says 'PG' in the descriptions for all 1/60 models so they sell. The text'll say something along the lines of "it's the same scale as PG!" just to catch your eye.

ZETA 2.0! YEEEEEEEEES!!! *does a victory dance*

Zuttasoxx
10-05-2005, 09:21 AM
I also think it's only a 1/60 HG model kit. Since it is less then 10 000 yen it is impossible to be a MG. And hardly doubt it is even a MG.

Ah... so the S-F flash version is something like the Real Detail S-F... only this time, its going to have more lights...

10-05-2005, 09:58 PM
Wow that custom is amazing. Actually that was what I pictured Kira piloting in GSD. Would've been wicked cool, a black Freedom with mirage colloid... Only makes me hope for Bandai to make a PG Freedom Gundam. As for now I've stopped picking up Gundam kits. I figure there aren't the 1/100 HG GSD kits I want, so why wait and save cash for it.

How are you painting it? Piece buy piece then putting it together? Or first putting it together then painting? With spray or with a brush?

If you put it together then paint with a brush, I can see why it's hard. But if you paint it piece by piece then put it together, I can't see why there should be any problems. :oh

:iikthe question is, what scale size did you do? a 1/144 or a 1/100? definitely 1/144s are harder to paint compared to 1/100s...

if you guys were given the chance to buy only one of three models, which one would you choose?

HG 1/144 Duel Assault Shroud
HG 1/144 DOM Trooper
HG 1/100 Gundam Astray Blue Frame Second L
HG 1/100 Gundam Astray Red Frame
