Name changes and bad voice acting aside, it's surprisingly well done.

Yeah, seemed like they got all of the terms correct.

God that announcer was annoying. x_x

But really, they get the translations to pretty much all the Paramecia/Paramythia and Logia fruits right. Why'd all the Zoan's get screwed up?

Yes Luffy found out about the side effects of not being able to swim at the age of 17. Fucking 4kids..

I'm surprised that they used the real names. I was expecting to hear about the Animal, Nature and Body-changing fruits. Maybe Al Kahn is realising that kids can infact read.

You know what, the name "Paramythia" really makes more sense, considering that Paramecia are freshwater ciliate protozoans.

Oh so now 4kids have better translations than the original?

The annoncer sounded like he was going to annouce a Disney movie, his voice was so annoying. Then again, I'm used to deep voices

That's one.

What do you mean "original"? Does Kaizoku Fansubs get all their translating information from Oda or something?

Or was "Paramecia" actually written out in English in the manga/anime? If so, disregard this.

Someone should create a list of Devil Fruit users, the type of fruit, ability, etc.

Unless there's already something like that, in which case i'd greatly appreciate a link.

Though it may be turning into a chart soon, which will make it easier to understand.

I was wondering the same thing. If you listen hard enough, it could be interpreted either way.

Especially since:

a) There's no "th" sound in Japanese, so it's usually replaced with "s"
b) There's no "si" sound in Japanese, so it's usually replaced with "shi"

Looking at it that way, "Paramishia" can be easily translated as either "Paramecia" or "Paramythia".

"Paramecium" means "long on one side." :oh. I'm betting it's just some kind of Portmanteau-pun made by Oda.

What is the true word? :arg

God's word. :oh

I dunno, when was Paramecia/ythia first mentioned in the series?

edit: I think that narrator is Crocodile's voice actor. Just higher pitched.

Groundhog's Day is a really, really, really stupid holiday that I think only exists in the US and Canada.

It was surpisingly good guide. Although the voice acting and changed names were terrible (Ace to Trace, Smoker to Chaser and Miss Merrychristmas to Miss Groundhog day (what the heck even is Groundhog day?)). Also Lasso was a weapon who ate a dog, was kinda wrong and calling Wapol garbage heap man was hilarious, but i don't think they mean't it as a joke.
I thought Lassou ate/merged with the Inu~inu fruit.

Agreed.

It's on the second day of Febuary, I think. People observe a groundhog, and if it comes out of the ground and sees it's shadow, then, I think, it's six more weeks of winter (right?).

Geg

Yeah. It's basically just an elementary school novelty holiday.

Who's the moron that came up with that holiday? =/

From Wikipedia:

Around the fifth century, the European Celts believed that animals had certain "supernatural" powers on special days that were half-way between the Winter Solstice and Spring Equinox. Folklore from Germany and France indicated that when groundhogs and bears came out of their winter dens too early, they were frightened by their shadow and retreated back inside for four to six weeks.

When Christianity came into being, the formerly pagan observance also came to be called Candlemas. The current tradition calls for "Spring Just Around the Corner" if the groundhog does not see his shadow. However, look for "At Least Six More Weeks of Winter" if the groundhog spies his pudgy image!

Some assert that the tradition of Groundhog Day originated in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania on February 2, 1887, however the earliest American reference to Groundhog Day can be found at the Historical Society of Berks County in Reading, Pa. The reference was made Feb. 4, 1841 in Morgantown, Berks County (Pennsylvania) storekeeper James Morris' diary..."Last Tuesday, the 2nd, was Candlemas day, the day on which, according to the Germans, the Groundhog peeps out of his winter quarters and if he sees his shadow he pops back for another six weeks nap, but if the day be cloudy he remains out, as the weather is to be moderate. According to the Works of Carmi (published in 1974) the groundhog is psychologically shaken when it sees its shadow, its lack of shadow is a blanket of security and when a groundhog sees it- he is determined to hide for 6 weeks"

The fifth century eh? Amazing some people still celebrate it.

Groundhog day sucks as a holiday sometimes that furry jackass doesn't even come and they force him, and the prediction isn't even always right.
February should just stick to Valentines day.
