When Luffy is in his normal form, Shadow definatly wins at speed, and none of Luffy's attacks would be fast enough to hit him. Though Luffy controls durability and strength in this battle. Shadow attacks would have very little affect on him.
Example: When Luffy fought Lucci, Lucci used Soru to avoid Luffy's attacks. Luffy only hit Lucci a few times in 1st Gear.

Example: 2nd Gear's speed is so fast, that he can appear in front of Lucci in a blink of an eye. Also, when Luffy uses Jet Pistol or Jet Whip, his limbs seem to disappear

Shadow has great durability and has super strength to a dgree.

Shadow possesses the same speed and agility as Sonic and is similar to him in almost all other abilities. Shadow also has super strength, though probably not as great as Knuckles'. This is demonstrated in Shadow the Hedgehog, when he overturns a bus with one hand.

Shadow's trademark move is Chaos Control, which allows him to warp time and space. Shadow has also used this ability as Team Dark's Team Blast in Sonic Heroes and on specific opponents in Sonic Riders. Other "Chaos" moves and attacks are Chaos Blast and Chaos Spear. Usually, Shadow has a Chaos Emerald when he performs Chaos Control. However, it has recently been revealed that he does not need an Emerald in order to perform this technique. One of Shadow's assets are his Air Shoes (also called Jet Shoes and Hover Skates), which ultilize powerful hover jets to reduce friction and enable Shadow to 'skate' as fast as Sonic runs and hover in mid-air. The jets on both end of his shoes glow gold when he runs. In Sonic Riders, the Air Shoes have been redesigned by Dr. Eggman as Extreme Gear, but their overall qualities are the same. It is unknown how fast Shadow is without his Air Shoes. The Shadow the Hedgehog game manual credits his "powerful body" as the reason for his incredible speed.

Luffy has taken on many people who strickly trained themselfs with swords. For example, Luffy took on Zoro in the Whiskey Peak arch., and Zoro is fast, and alot stronger then Shadow.

From looking at Shadows abilitys a little more, this battle will depend on speed mostly. When Luffy was up against Blueno, he was moving at simular speeds as regular shadow, though luffy was still able to hit Blueno.

Also, with all of Kuro's super speed attacks, Luffy could hit and avoid him. Take note, Kuro could dodge bullets with incredable ease, yet Luffy was still able to hit Kuro. What does that tell you about Luffy's reaction time?

If Shadow uses Chaos Control, then Luffy would go to 2nd Gear, when Luffy is in 2nd Gear, his speed, streanth, and reaction time increaces. he was even able to avoid Blueno when he used his dora dora powers to apear behide Luffy, and Luffy dodged it.

It can go both ways. ith lufy is in gear 3 then he is scrwed, he loses most of his speed. in gear 2...he is just going at shadows speed but if shadow uses chaos control then luffy will stop giving him alot of time...or whatever to attack.

Shadow's speed in Chaos Control is simular to Lucci's Kamisori(Ravor), which is twice faster then soru. When Lucci uses Kamisori, his 15 foot leopard body disappears and appears infront of Luffy. Luffy's 2nd Gear counters his attack.

Then it's fair. Chaos Control would give Luffy a lot of trouble on the fact that it can freeze time and all of Shadow weapons would affect Luffy in some way because all are energy.

How long can Shadow freeze time and how many times can he do it in Chaos Control? Is Shadows speed in Chaos Control any diferent to Kuro's Shakushi?

Shadow in Choas Control also can use Chaos blast, but Luffy has somthing thats stronger then that in his 1st Gear. Not Gomu Gomu no Storm, but Cannon.
Gomu Gomu no Cannon is shown in 3:23 to 5:20, but if you want to see some of the other Strawhat crew strengths then see all of the video.

Not only did Luffy brake through 3 feet of steel, but he also knock the giant out as well.

Lasers would affect Luffy, but I don't think that the lasers would hurt Luffy as much as what Wipers attack's did to Luffy.

It varies. The Chaos emerald amps the effect of the Chaos Control. And Chaos Control freezes time but Shadow moves at his normal speed.

I still don't see him stopping time while still attacking. Any vids that show Shadow's perspective? AKA, videos where Shadow's going in real time where nobody is moving at all.

Don't get me wrong, I'm giving Shadow the advantage as of what I've seen so far, but I still want to get the facts straight.

I can't find the video on the net. If you have the game, or know somebody who has the the game, then you just use Chaos Control during a dark boss fight

I thought SA1 was much better. Both games dont hold a candle to the Genesis games though.

As for this...I dunno. I hate Shadow but he seems to be pretty evenly matched with Luffy.

Even if Shadow could stop time for 10 seconds, what is he going to do to Luffy. Shadow would need a very large attack to hit Luffy with, because Shadow can only use Chaos Control 3 or 4 times from what I heared.

That's similar, but the real Chaos Control last much longer than that.

That is a video of the SA2 multi player. And Luffy would be very dead in 10 seconds when you're dealing with shadow.

What attack would Shadow use to beat Luffy? Shadow's weapons are no different to Wiper’s, and Chaos blast would only throw Luffy back with little damage.

Chaos Control is amped by Chaos Emeralds, that's why I gave Shadow one.

After reading the horror's of chaos control, I'm going with Shadow. He dosn't even need to switch it on all the time, he could just use the teleporting ability to shoot Luffy full of holes. Last time I looked, lasers worked pretty well on rubber.

By the time the Straw Hat crew reached Whisky peak they were already dodging bullets, now in the manga the Straw Hats are move at bullet speed.
In Whisky Peak Zoro was at gun point many times and he still avoided the shots.

Are you comparing Luffy's Jet Gatling Gun to bullets? Luffy nailed Lucci with Jet Gatling Gun before he even knew it. Also, Lucci has great reaction time and he could move way faster then bullet speed using Kamisori. If Luffy's Jet Gatling Gun could break through Lucci's tekkai and knock him out cold. Jet Gatling Gun is 10x stronger and 5x faster per punch then any bullet you could find.

Moving at bullet speed (at least) plus stopping and starting time means Luffy has nothing to aim at. His insticnts don't help him either, because they don't function while time has stopped. In the mean time Shadow could use chaos control and attack, while simultaneously repositioning for an addtional attack when time is restored. Luffy would be half way through jet pistol and get hit in the back and from the sides while Shadow ends up behind him.

The scan you have there with your words are inaccurate. Its not that Lucci couldnt dodge the attack, he just chose to do Tekkai instead of dodging it. To my knowledge Luffy never hit Lucci before he "knew what happened" while Lucci was paying attention

Well, there's Tails, Knuckles, and Amy. Those would be good matches.

Tails isn't as fast as Sonic, but he's smart. While his negative energy rings wouldn't be able to do anything (as they use electricity), his fake Chaos Emerald would probably help give him enough power to become a contender. Plus, he has his hundreds of machines all with different attacks (most of them lasers and guns), which can also be given a boost with the fake Chaos Emerald. Plus, as long as he's flying it will be more difficult for Luffy to hit him. He won't win, but it will be an interesting match-up.

Knuckles has a chance at beating Luffy if he goes all out and doesn't attack head on. Knuckles would need to attack the ground and have lava rush to the surface to win. But that's probably not what Knuckles would do as a starter, so he'll probably lose. While Knuckles has great endurance, if he gets hit with a Jet Gattling he's finished.

Surprisingly enough, Amy is actually a formidable fighter. She can create tornados with her hammer, and also can float in the air for a short time using it. Unfortunately, she can't even keep up with Tails, and isn't as strong as Knuckles so she'll lose.

Obviously, Sonic will win as he is just a faster Shadow. Sonic can use Chaos Control as well. And his "Sonic Wind" technique is just as powerful as the Chaos Spear.

I don't feel like going through an entire roster, so I'll only throw out one secondary character. Espio would also make for an interesting opponent against Luffy. He can also create tornadoes, but only does so to become invisible. He also carries overly large shuriken and such weapons. He's still not a top-tier speedster, but he can hold his own.

The Speed and Strength comparison are arguable for both Luffy and Knuckles. So far in both series, I see both characters punching the crap out of steel and stone objects. I tilted strength toward Luffy because in the movies I see Luffy lifting heavier things then what Knuckles usually does. Also, I do believe that Luffy has a stronger lower body then Knuckles. In the Arlong arch there was one time were Luffy jammed his feet into the ground, I usually see Knuckles only using his hands were Luffy has done a combination of both his hands and feet from time to time. I heard someplace that Knuckles could also turn his fists into fire, which would give Luffy a problem. Unlike other Sonic character which Luffy would take out with two or three hits, I would defiantly agree that Knuckles would take alot more hits from Luffy. Though in the end Luffy wins in 1st Gear (normal form).

Metal Sonic is as fast as Base sonic or faster, meaning it can easily break the sound barrier and since it's made of Metal, He would be able to take plenty of hits from Luffy, that is Luffy can hit him.

Well, you don't have to worry about Sonic Wind and Chaos Spear. Both are cannon. They were used in Sonic Adventure 2 in their final battle on the bridge. If you let your opponent run far enough past you, he'll activate his technique. Plus, Shadow also used Chaos Spear again in Shadow the hedgehog (albiet he was Super at the time). So both moves are still game.

Second, Knuckles isn't as fast as Sonic, or even Tails for that matter. Tails is said to be about the 4th fastest person in the Sonic-verse (behind Sonic, Shadow and Metal Sonic).

Also, Luffy's strength >>>>>>>>>> Sonic's strength.

So unless Knuckles goes with the whole lava technique he's going down fast.

And one more thing

I won't disagree that Knuckles can hit hard. However, I don't think that Knuckles will take to Luffy's attacks very well. You see, Luffy has a HUGE advantage when it comes to range, something that most other Sonic characters wouldn't have to worry about as much. Knuckles is pretty much the only character that completely relies on hand to hand combat, which means that he would have to move in close to get an attack in.

There in lies the problem. Luffy has multiple attacks which go out over a long range and will force Knuckles back multiple times. If Knuckles dug underground and then attacked Luffy, he might score a hit. However, a tactic like that would only work once. Also, adding in the fact that Knuckles is actually rather slow for a main character, he's going to have a hard time doging everything that Luffy is capable of dishing out. While I still think that he would be faster than base Luffy, Gear 2 Luffy will really be a problem for him.

Plus, Knuckles special abilities don't help him in any way here. Why? Luffy doesn't emit any energy that Knuckles can sense. Plus, without some kind of power-up (say a Master Emerald) he's really got nothing to help him out.

All Luffy has on Knuckles is range and speed in Gear 2

While it is true that Knuckles' hits would do some damage, I don't think that they would really do enough to make this into a really good fight. Thanks, to Luffy's body, Knuckles will never be able to do damage that really presents a K.O. threat. The best Knuckles could do would be to puncture him with his knuckles (the spikes in his hands) and then blow him away. Luffy could easily get up from that.

Well, the only real feat for Knuckles durability would be surviving an explosion back in Sonic and Knuckles. I guess falling meteors in SA2 are a pretty good durability feat too. Other than that, we really don't have that much to judge with. While I don't think that Knuckles durability would help after a few blows from Luffy, it is true that his durability is very high. So, I'll give it to you in the fact that Knuckles could probably take Gum-Gum Pistols and Whips. Higher techniques are really going to be a problem though.

Edit: I forgot to add, Knuckles gliding won't help much. It is MUCH slower than Tails ability to fly, and has horrible manuvering. His gliding ability would probably hinder him, unlike Tails' flying ability.

Plus, I don't think that swimming will really help, but you never know. Also, Tails has also shown the ability to swim in the past, though not as well as Knuckles.

That alone give you a idea of his durability.

^ Well, that's the thing. Luffy can easily rip up the same robots without any gears. That's why I doubt that Sonic would beat Luffy using physical attacks. He'd have to use Sonic wind in order to damage Luffy.

Knuckles has a high durability, but blows from Sonic and blows from Luffy are on two different levels. Characters have been lifting buildings in One Piece since the Alabasta story arc. Luffy's only had time to become stronger after that.

I think for the fact that Sonic moves faster than the speed of sound, hitting stuff with his body at sound speed, makes him hit harder than Luffy

^ Well, the thing is that Sonic doesn't have to be moving at top speed to break metal. He can do it standing still. Plus, when he does that he lets his spikes break something, so it doesn't hurt him at all.

Plus, Sonic is only around the speed of sound according to games, not above.

The real problem is that physically, Sonic has never broken anything more impressive than steel. So it can be hard to judge. Plus, if Robotnik can fortify it so that Sonic can't break it in one hit, then either he has machines which are god-like or Sonic's attacks aren't that strong. Your pick.

Plus, Knuckles and Sonic have never had a very conclusive fight as every single time they were interrupted by something. Even back in Sonic 3 and Knuckles, after Sonic wailed on Knuckles in the Master Emerald's shrine, Knuckles got right back up with no problem and ran after Robotnik when he saw that the emerald was being stolen. So we don't know if Sonic's hits when fighting Knuckles are really all that strong or not.

My comic knowledge is slim, but I'm going to say no. Metal Sonic is very different now to what he used to be.

Sonic the comic is not canon.

If both of them used Chaos Control, then they would sorta just both be moving at hyper speeds. Only those two would be going fast while everyone is at a crawl.

That is what I said. Sonic has really high durability.

Luffy wasn't in that comparison. Some people put it like Luffy could punch anybody in half.

I'm just saying that he wouldn't knock out most Sonic guys with one punch.

It looks like to me that Shadow's speed by slighty beyond soru. But I'd bet Luffy is a bit faster.

Quite true, but don't forget, Lucci's soru is alot faster then Blueno's. Luffy was able to catch up Lucci's speed in his Gear 2.

But don't get me wrong. Shadow is very fast. If he had to go to Chaos Control, then Luffy wouldn't have any other choice but to go to Gear 2, and I'm not sure if that would be enough to catch up with him.
