Alright, I've been looking back over a couple of episodes to try and find the key to beating Kariya...

I believe Ishida is the only one that knows this:

Bleach 79, Kariya Jin (talking to Yoshino): "We control the great powers of the world through our seals. But if we lose our balance for a mere moment, that power will go out of control and attack the user. It is foolish to call out your doll when you are beaten up so badly. You will not even be able to control it as you wish."

Shortly after, Kariya calls Ishida out from hiding. Now, Ishida had been at the scene of the fight ever since Yoshino started getting very serious with Kariya...and I've deduced that he must've heard everything the two (Yoshino and Kariya) were talking about. He must have heard the weakness of the Bounto too.

So, Byakuya knows that Kariya's doll is the wind, the air.
Ichigo will most likely know this very soon since he is with Byakuya and Kariya now (ep 95). Ishida has done a disappearing act on the rest of the guys...and we know he wants to avenge Yoshino; he may very well be going straight to Kariya. Once again, Ishida heard that conversation between Yoshino and Kariya. When the three, Byakuya, Ichigo and Ishida put everything together, they will know Kariya's weak spot.

Kariya needs to lose his balance, his composure for a mere moment to be defeated.

This is just an idea I had, what does anyone else think?

omg laser pew pew!

So you saying Kariya needs to habe his hair ruffled up and make him walk with a limp to beat him?

Honestly what do they mean by 'lose their balance'? From what your post tells me, I think he meant that more as a metaphorical statement and not one to be taken literally (I mean 'lost balance'? Just push them over)

Was this the reason the cardmaster's doll killed him?

Just push them over)That's exactly what I'm thinking, in a metaphorical sense. They needs to dig deep into Kariya's mind and hit him where it hurts. It's like what Kariya did to Yoshino: He really got under her skin causing her to lose herself and consequently lose nearly complete control of her doll, and finally the battle. Also, think of what happened to Koga when he fought Ichigo...when he started thinking about his ex-subordinate, Cain, it all started to go wrong for him. After he began to lose his solid composure he started losing the battle although Daruku never showed signs of turning against him.Was this the reason the cardmaster's doll killed him?Perhaps. I'm gonna have a look at that episode again, but yea, after losing control of his doll, it turned on him.

Esentially, what I believe is Kariya needs to be attacked mentally first in order to be beaten. Being forced to lose control of his doll somehow should be essential to his downfall.

EDIT: Oh and of course, I'm proposing that Byakuya and Ichigo won't be able to defeat him as they are now. Once Ishida joins them, only then they will have the edge.

Honestly Jin isn't shit without that wind, take that away, and he's canon fodder. (Pun intended.)

hmm perhaps when quincy archer does the spiritron release thing and loses his powers again he will cause a disturbance in the force that makes the dolls turn on their users.

I think by "losing battles" it means that the reiatsu in the area was disturbed, which is exactly what Ishida does. Besides knowing his weak spot, he's the only one who can manipulate it.
