sometimes i find the humour aspect of onepiece a little overbearing but i guess it all adds to its charm, i still wonder though, what a hrdcore one piece would be like, or something a little more serious atleast at the naruto level, i'm talking about the stretching and the goofy power ups some of the chars have.

One Piece wouldn't be half the anime it is without the humour. Well maybe not half, but the humour is one of the things that makes One Piece so great.

Goofy powerups? O_o
I wouldn't say Naruto is more serious than One Piece. Naruto humour just fails.

Yeah, it has its funny moments but when it gets serious, it really gets serious and deep as hell too. I like the comedy in OP cuz I'm the type of person who likes to laugh. Almost every chapter has some humor in it which is a great thing imo cuz comic relief is one of the greatest aspects of a good story. And since OP has a lot of it, that makes it a great story I believe.

QUOTED FOR TRUTH :nuts

"serious at naruto level?" the issues in one piece are infinately more complicated than the issues of a bunch of 14 year old milksops. stopping a civil war in a country completely corrupted by your enemy? being a good samaritan to someone who will end up attacking your sea restaurant? taking on the world government to save a friend who has been haunted by her past for 20 years? fighting god?

can naruto even compare, when the biggest issue is this whiney michael jackson wannabe pissy because he didn't get his little title. or a bunch of pricks in robes trying to catch all the pokemon in the narutoverse. sure, it might be a dire situation, but is it deep and serious? no its not.

completely agree w/ mole. one piece goes so much deeper. thats why its so good :) the only thing that naruto has that can compare to things like the 'nakama' theme in one piece is naruto and sasuke, and that is nowhere near the level of one piece.

Hahahhahahaahahha Naruto-level serious.

I've watched/read Gantz, Elfen Lied, Blood: The Last Vampire, and tons of "mature" titles which some may consider to be pretty serious. Yet I find One Piece to be just as, or even more intense emotionally.

Seriousness doesn't make a series. And I used to love Naruto, but it's pretty pretentious to consider it "serious."

well i used seriousness in a light sense, what i meant by serious was the absense of anything goofy, visa ve one piece. but i agree with the fact of the great themes present in one piece, that's why i was always torn with the show, i never thought i'd begin enjoying the show so much when i first started - mainly because of the goofy structure as previously mentioned, but on the other hand it had a great many other things in it that made up for the one trait that i found questionable, its a great show regardless, it's just taken some time to get used to.

ah, you make more sense now. oda's sense of humor takes a little getting used to.

though in terms of being funny, naruto tries to hard. the single lamest part of any anime i have ever seen was when naruto gives kiba a good wiff in his face. one piece at least knows what lines not to cross with luffy's "stupidity." naruto is just excessively stupid, and it ceases to be funny after a while.

also it tries to hard in being serious as well... but i'm too lazy to extrapolate

:laugh I love your post, Mu-chan.

And the humor is another awesome element of One Piece. One Piece wouldn't be as good without the humor!

One piece makes me laugh. Naruto makes me wonder if the dude who makes it has a sense of humor :nod

Naruto uses Pun Humor. Which isn't very funny.
One Piece uses WTF humor. Which is halarious.

Heck the humor of One Piece is just one of the things that make it so great along with adventure, fighting, and just having a good ol' time.

Besides at least Luffy doesn't have to fart like Naruto to be funny or be perverted...

Oh and as far as the pervertness goes Sanji > Any perverted Naruto characters.

Meh to be honest I don't really find Bleach funny either... I mean most of their humor comes from two people arguing about what seems more polite to say or something...

^Nah man bleach is pretty damn funny when they fight, though one piece is funnier in my opinion bleach has some very funny parts. Naruto humor is garbage...i laughed...what? Three times the whole series -_-

Meh maybe it's just me then... I mean Keigo's probably the only thing in Bleach that actually made me laugh along with Rukia's drawings I suppose but Soul Society was full of that bad kind of humor I mentioned. It just got rather old after awhile...

I think that's where One Piece is different when it comes to humor One Piece tends to use it in non-serious situations but you'll barely see the straw hat's goofing off when they're fighting for real.

The balance of goofyness and seriousness in OP is what makes it stand out from the other Shounen manga.

One Piece wouldn't be One Piece without the goofy characters and humour.

And I agree lol...Naruto humour just fails....I've only laughed during episode 101 which was supposed to be comedy.

To be honest not sure, my friend is very big into making special effects and such so he made one for himself and for me he added crazymtf instead of his name. He uses Maya so whatever special effect you see HE made, not stole or anything, but it's pretty cool so thanks for the compliment :)

Naruto humor is horrible, i love one pieces and i like bleachs alot too. Both make me laugh :laugh

OMG...you like naruto more then bleach? In the begining of both i liked naruto but after seeing the downfall of naruto at ep 100 and going down down down and now it's almost pathic and i read it just to go on and see but on the othere hand bleach is excellent, especially the SS arc, i got to start watching again, i stopped when fillers began but i heard the fillers are enjoyable :P

I don't find Naruto the character funny at all anymore. But I think that might be the fillers' fault.

Yeah the Naruto fillers made the series make a nodedive BUT!!!!!

I am a narutofan....always will be, and saying naruto doesnt have deep and touching moments is just untrue..

I mean come on, Sasuke...yeah I know everybody hates Sasuke.

But this guys just came home one day and his whole familiy and clanhas been SLAUGHTERED by a man he idolized, his brother....to make matters worse this brother also shows him how he did it, and messes him up real good...

Man, if that were to happen to me I would have snapped LONG before sasu went to oro...

All im trying to say with this is, Naruto is a great serie, One piece is better imo I agree... But I am still looking forward to part2...thats just gonna be awesome.

And OP, One piece gets really serious at some points the stretching and stuff is just their way of fightimg...

And the humor of OP is a BIG part of the show IMO.

Yeah it was sad to see sasuke family killed and he wanted revenge but then he goes and turns to a emo and is just like his brother now = lame. I mean it had good emotion but it just kinda died off. :cry

To me, the whole Sasu is the same as Itachi thing is like a sick twist of fate, he is turning intothe very same thing he hates...

I really think Sasu has it tough, I still cant forgive him for betraying Konoha tho :P

Oh and another thing...

but sasuke gets no sympathy. his annoyingness has beaten all the sympathy out of me. i like how hes turning into the thing he hate though, its one decent part about naruto's story.

Still thought the sasuke played out to long and i really gave two shits about his emo ass now.

About the third, how long it took him to die was just killing me but the funeral itself was quite sad, that was a great ep. Then a few eps later...it just began to lose my intrest :cry

meh... that uchiha mandra stuff just completely put me off. i almost stopped reading naruto because kishi was fanboy-ing over sasuke so much.

and "flowing chidori" was the lamest jutsu ever. you'd think that after seeing naruto use rasengan all the time, sasuke would use a less broken jutsu @_@

i think one piece is one of the only anime what can add humor and action like how it does it. i dunno if its the writer or if its just because of it being a pirate theme set in a magical land. who knows and cares as long as it stays great :D
