Howl's Moving Castle or Princess Mononoke. I actually wasn't fond of Nausicaä (blasphamy, I know) and Castle in the Sky was a little dull as well. Maybe I'm too easy to impress with flashy animation...

Ruri
07-29-2006, 10:05 PM
It's so hard to choose a favorite. =__=

I'd say Spirited Away, for it's awesome story, and for having possibly my favorite anime/movie scene ever (the train sequence to swamp bottom). But I also love Princess Mononoke, which is just a beautiful film, and My Neighbor Totoro, for it's sweetness and charm. ^^

I like most so, it's hard to pick >_>
1) Nausicaä of the Valley of Wind
2) Laputa: Castle in the Sky
3) Spirited Away
4) Mononoke Hime
sorry, they're all my favorite so I had to list them all :sweat
but I voted for Nausicaä of the Valley of Wind :nod

Uff, I'd say My Neighbor Totoro and Spirited Away.

And I agree with Ruri, I like trainscenes in anime movies all around, but Spirted Away's was especially nice <33

I like Momoke Hime for the awesome storyline, music, and animation. I also like the rest too, like Tonari no totoro, Spirited away, Nausicaa of the Valley of the wind.

Princess Mononoke would be my personal favorite despite it lacking subtlety, then again I'm not one to bow down and praise Miyazaki like so many others seem to be willing to do.

Love them all, of course...but Spirited Away is the one I've watched the most, and it's special to me...showed it to the most people, too.

But have to love My Neighbour Totoro!!

It's hard to pick. Each one is somehow special to me.

Princess Mononoke: Probably my favorite. It left a big impression on me when I first watched it. The music, storyline, etc...

Castle in the Sky: I watched it when I was very small with my dad (who I rarely see). The music is awesome.

Spirited Away: As someone said earlier, I love the the train ride scene. The music, the scenary (the little waves created by train and water reflection etc) is just beautiful.

Howl's Moving Castle is up there too.

Miyazaki is planning to make a new movie (neither title nor plot is released yet) so I'm excited about that.

My personal favorite would be Castle in the Sky. Classic action/adventure quest thats perfectly paced. Even though its over 2 hours long, not a moment feels unnecessary or slow. Its also the first Miyazaki movie I saw as a kid, so it holds some great nostalgic factor. I also love the theme song. Very haunting tune and touching lyrics.

Prince Mononoke. I will never understand why people love Spirited Away so much -_-

This is a tough one!

Spirited Away is great (probably the only anime I have preferred the dub over the sub, but its close!) and Howl's Moving Castle... although I voted Princess Mononoke! :P
Miyazaki's next project is Gake no ue no Ponyo (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gake_no_ue_no_Ponyo), which will be in water colours like My Neighbors the Yamadas. Its scheduled for a summer 2008 release. The plot centers on a goldfish princess named Ponyo who desperately wants to be a human. In pursuing her goal, she befriends a five-year-old human boy, Sōsuke. My favourite overall Ghibli movie would have to to Grave of the Fireflies though...

Princess Mononoke and Spirited Away were great films, but I have a special place in my heart for My Neighbor Totoro, loved that movie when I was a kid, watched it over and over, now that I think about it, that was my first subbed piece of entertainment ever. :)

Although industry insiders and so called "critics", praise Spirited Away as Miyazaki's best film, his best film according to us, the "people", is Princess Mononoke. I think Mononoke is his best film.

Spirited Away, followed by Totoro, Howl's MC and Kiki.

If we were to use all of Ghibli's works, I would just add Grave of the Fireflies between SA and Totoro.
