I need help finding typing software that i use with my norwegian layout keyboard, that will also get me to type norwegian words. so far the only software i've found that is compatibale with the layout, still gets you to type english words :( :oh

i've only been learning it for about a year, and have covered some of the grammar basics in my course (next year it's more speaking) .

I figured that if i get a typing programmme (thinking an equivalent to mavis beacon or the like), then not only will it help me get more familiar with my norwegian layout keyboard, but it will also help me to learn to spell the words, e.c.t.
as it is, i don't know what the norwegian is for "typing software" so it's been extremely hard to find any.

any assistance will be greatly appreciated. :)

You don't need any software to type in Norwegian.

I've been taking lessons at my uni, but also i've bought some books and stuff.
I've got the "teach yourself norwegian" by Margaretha Danbolt Simons which you can get with a cd (it's cheaper to buy the set, and make sure it's the latest edition).
i did find the book a bit difucult to use on it's own, as a complete beginner at first. but I've found that heaving it helped me a lot when i started doing the course. i'd definately recomend it as it explains a lot of stuff in a user-friendly way.

There's also some cd-roms you can get that they have on this site www.eurotalk.com, but i recomend searching for them on amazon or somethign as it's much cheaper :) they're more useful as revision guides tho's as apart from teaching you the meanings of words and some exercises to test you, they doan't actually teach you any of the grammar or language patterns.

And there's absolutely load of sites online you can go to that has.
to get used to hearign the language, i go to www.nrk.no they have internet radio and tv. :)

Ah, yeh i know about the keyboard setting, i had to change them to make the most of the keyboard. it did take me a while to find one at a good price though. google kept bringing up ones that would have cost me at least £80 including p+p to the uk( and that was just for a basic one, with no media button or such). but i found out that logitech do foreign layout keyboards, so ended up getting one for about £25. it's pretty. also it make's it much easier to type ø,æ, å and also it has the delay key so you can type ñ â e.c.t with ease ( no more trying to remember the alt+ codes ^_^)

basically i want to learn to touch-type on my keyboard, and improve my spelling of the words too.
I so recommend learning it tho' - i really love it, and will hopefully be going there in september for a week.

Oh, and it helps to have a norwegian friend who regularly travels there or has friends that comes over often ( they can get you the course books cheaper than they are in the UK, in my case).
