IMO the Infernal curbstomps the Archon.
Immolation + health regen + an attack of +20 over an archon's = dead Archon

Well, the Archon might have difficulty being burned just by being in the presence of an Infernal

Archons are a LOT cooler than Infernals, though >_>;
(and not just in terms of temperature)

In size, they're about the same size, with archon being a bit wider, since he's round an all.

As for protection Archon without his shields is easier to kill than a 14 year old girl. Now, it's up to you to decide if chaos attacks bypass psionic shields XD I don't think they would, tho,

If the shields hold, Archon's a pretty buff individual, Very durable, STRONG damage, and amazing attack rate.

(Btw that pic is lame XD ,here's a better one)

Just curious though but when was the size of a Archon shown? Was it in one of the novels or something?

I think he meant in the game Starcraft?

Well it can be determined logically. You can clearly see the Archon maintains about the same size as the templar as it retains the shape of a single protoss inside the energy field and is a "fusion". A templar would be the same size as a zealot, since they are the same race(just different classes), and Zealots are 3meters tall(about 10 feet) according to the SC box. That would be roughly less than their height if you include their glow/hovering. That would be about a 10 foot diameter sphere, which seems to be about the size of the Infernal that landed in the WC3 cinematic.

Size in SC cannot be used logically since 8 marines is like the size of a Battle Cruiser or Carrier

I never said anything about ingame, I was talking purely about facts of the universe. Zealots and Templar are of the same race(just different levels of the khala), so they would be the same height. Archons would be no shorter than each Templar. The Starcraft box clearly states that Zealots are 3 meters tall.

Put 2 and 2 together and you have a 10+ foot archon.

That's comparable to this: http://empireearth.free.fr/galerie/photos/infernal.jpg

Well Chaos damage is a bitch, but infernals are shocktroopers, no more. Not using the game as a template, but instead literature, an infernal can be stopped by an orc with a magic axe. Now yes, the axe was crafted by a demigod, and the orc was in fact a veteran, and Thrall is "just an orc", but archons, well they are archons. They actually do damage.

NOw a dark archon would stand no chance against the infernal, but I agree that the chaos damage wouldn't go through the shields, it would do alot of damage, but my money is on the archon.

I don't think chaos goes through shields. They don't bypass Mana shields do they?

Good point Insipidity, forgot about that.

I guess it goes to the Archon then
