uhm... no idea but Ill go with 8. But it wont possibly be his father.. more like a new and obviusly the most powerful person we´ve seen...
Besides, I think Luffy will fight and win against that white beard guy

Shanks seems to be on a Whitebeard tier, showing he is strong enough to be a top pirate. Shanks may also be trying to find One Piece, therefore he is competition for the end.

Ace isn't even a captain, so not last fight. Dragon we don't even know anything about, he may not want one piece. Black Beard appears to want to be a Shichibuki, so not after one piece. White Beard is probably the closest final battle opponent, as Luffy would have surpassed Gol D. Roger's equal.

Whitebeard, pure and simple. He was the only one to tie with Roger, and he's the closest to One Piece. If it's not him, then I'd say 8.

Yeah next arc will probably have Blackbeard, and we'll finially see Ace in the story again!

But for last villian, either Whitebeard or some ultimate villian guy from the Government.

No one we have seen yet, there probably be a twist and then some wicked villain will appear that is important to the plot and he/she will be the last villain.

For those who say White Beard, you may not looking deep enough. True, White Beard may have been on tier with Roger, but now he's old and sickly. Personally, I can't see him being defeated at the way end by Luffy. Now, put yourself in Oda's mind. How do you end a series that features a character who everyone wants to see? The one who is basically Luffy's rival. The one who started Luffy on his quest? Luffy would meet him at the end.

However, it's rather hard to determine at this point whether Shanks would challenge Luffy or not. I know Luffy wouldn't issue a challenge. However, Shanks may at least want to see how much Luffy has grown, so he may at least challenge Luffy to a sparring match.

An Admiral is too low-levelled to end the journey (yes I know Luffy lost to one). It has to be the government's biggest, baddest, strongest fighter. Possibly someone with confidential information about One Piece that not even the Admirals know.

Blackbeard is out, Ace and Dragon would be more of a help than a threat, and Buggy may be one of the last fights (same goal), but not the very last.

However, I can see the last island being a survival fight, kind of like Skypeia. The sides that we know of now would consist of Straw Hats, Buggy, White Beard, Red-Haired Pirates, Smoker (looking to make sure there is no Pirate King), Hina (with Smoker), and maybe some old and new characters.

Buggy for me would be pretty lame. I'm not 100% sure it's Whitebeard either, though I do see them fighting near the end. Maybe it'll be someone guarding One Piece or near it.

This is what I see happening: The Staw Hats are going to have to fight the Red-Hairs over One Piece. A this point, the straw hats will have kicked all of the shicibukai's asses, except maybe Mihawk, and they're going to end up winning, eventually. Then, they're going to discover something about One Piece, and they and Shanks' crew will have to fight the World Government, with help from various people they've met so far. A big war breaks out, and the Straw Hats end up going up against the five old guys. At some point, Luffy's going to be rushing to get somewhere, but someone uber guy is going to block him, and then Buggy and Alvida will come in and hold the enemy off long enough for Luffy to do what he needs to do. Something blows up, Luffy nearly dies, and the WG crumbles.

Fangren's idea seems likely, but One Piece is the one anime that goes against what people would expect, so I'm sure it will be a surprise.

1. Whitebeard (HE HAS A MOUSTACHE NOT A BEARD :oh), doesn't seem to have enough of a connection with Luffy to be really GREAT final fight.

2. Blackbeard, I'm curious about this, he's got the D., I've got no clue as to how strong he is or what he wants (I don't know if he really really wanted Laffite to recommend him for Shichibukai or not), he'll play an important part later on I'm sure though.

3. Dragon, if he's a Shichibukai it's unlikely, but he could be someone from Luffy's past so don't know.

4. Shanks, I'm betting on this, the one thing I want to see more than anything is Usopp seeing his father after becoming really strong, I think it fits, it will be Luffy's hardest fight oh man will it be great!

5. Ace, unlikely, if Whitebeard is stronger than he is then it seems too small, besides they don't have the same goal.

6. One of Three Admirals, unlikely since there's three, and even though Ao Kiji was strong, all three are probably of equal strength. I'm actually expecting Ao Kiji to be taken out by Ace :P

7. Buggy(wasn't Alvida the first villain? meh), he'll probably end up aligning himself with Luffy after a small skirmish, I can't imagen how Buggy could take Luffy down since he had such an easy time with him early on.

8. The rest of the Shichibukai still needs to be revealed, as well as anyone happening to occupy or reside near Raftel, there are still many characters left to introduce.

All-in-all, I'll go for Shanks even though it seems to obvious. :laugh

Those are some serious guys, too o.o" I distrust the World Gorvernment, they are too fishy and will surely make many more problems later on.
