------------------------------------------------
there are not to many steps in this sig tut
first make a new template
The GIMP---->File---->new

then get yourBrush set i used xephyrs 16 set He Pwnz:P
then brush around not to dark but have some dark spots
PIchttp://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e217/narutox150/sigstyletutimg1.png
then after that we go to tools color tools then colorize set the top 2 bars all the way to the right
and then the last bar to 12 then duplicate the layer and put blending mode to Hard Light then go to filters--->blurs---.guassian blurPichttp://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e217/narutox150/sigstyletutimg2.png put guassian blur to the 13 on both bars and have it set on IIR(defualt)
then time for the Render!!!!!!
click on the render you want then go to edit copy visable
then click on your background and click paste into
get the move layers to selection tool
(scroll tool) to place the render to a better position
keep blending mode at normal.Pichttp://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e217/narutox150/sigstyletutimg3.png
and the ad your text
place your border and viola! qwuik sig, just ask any question you may have
im sure i dident present it perfectly :(
if your not pleased with the out come make a new transparent layer and paste in the render intell it completly fills the transparent area then guassion blur it at 20 and put blending mode to overlay. and it should be bright and the colors should be thicker. you can go to colorize and play with the settings to get brown blue green blackish whitish and other colors
Oo and post up your results plz =) just ask me any Question you need answered.

well i downloaded xephyrs 16 brush set from deviant art and brush around with the scratches and in the corner i used Brush 15,but you can use any brush set and get a bg your pleased with , for the GIMP brushes they vary on the page if you cant find xephyr's brushes they're usually on the top 5 pages
type in Deviant Art GIMP Brushes and go to the First result.
@Bad Audio thanks ^^
