The anime centers around two sisters - Kyou (age 15) and Asu (age 9) - whose mother died from an illness and whose father, heavily in debt, mysteriously disappeared.

Now they are living in a small and miserable apartment from the few money the older sister gets for her part-time job. But as long as they have each other and are supported by kind people they continue their every-day life never losing the bright smiles on their faces nor their strong spirit.

This is a heartwarming story about two poor, yet happy, sisters.


Based on the seinen manga by Kazuto Izumi, serialised in Sunday GX.

Thoughts on Binbou Shimai Monogatari


It's a pretty nice anime that's on the sweet side.

I swear...half the time those sisters were on a self inflicted guilt trip >_>

..,but in a good way. Hmmh...Father not around because he had a huge gambling debt and the mom died...the older sister works hard to provide for the both of them. All those two girls have in this world, are each other. Truly touching :cry

I think I'll continue watching this series.

Somehow, I knew that piggy bank was going to get violated before the episode ended xDD

Episode 2 was well done. I like the fact that they showed another side to the landlord aka demon :laugh
Those two girls are just too nice at times :P
But at least we know the manager isn't heartless. He's just a very solitary guy.

Who wrote that this anime is Seinen genre?! Its rather the oppisite of it. Seinen deal with realistic themes of adulthood, university students and the working world; and not with some kids stories that are made to be heartwarming and cute and even are overexegerated in those points that the show fail to be exactly what it attempts to be...
