View Full Version : Anyone else bothered by Luffy taking damage from Physical attacks?

This has been bothering me for quite some time. Luffy can bounce bullets back... Yet apparently punching and kicking causes some sort of damage to Luffy...
How is it even possible for something as big as a fist to cause damage, when a small little bullet can pull a bullet size portion of his body 2 feet behind his torso. Luffy should just plain out be immune to all physical attacks.

He is immune for the most part. A super strong punch can hurt him.

What are some cases in which he's been hurt physically with something blunt? I can't seem to recall anything offhand.

The only time that really comes to mind was the fight with Foxy, but that was a special circumstance.

-The fight with Foxy
-Rob Lucci's attacks
-Franky's attacks
-Paulie's attacks
And I can't think of anymore right now.

The problem is with your interpretation threadstarter.
Luffy isn't immune to physical damage. he is virutally immune. There still some ways to do it physically.
Like Superman hitting him with an adamantium bat for example.

hmm maybe.
Change the bat to carbonadium.
He isn't immune, any uber strong punches can hurt him. His weakness is sword-techniques. :amuse

maybe he has to focus a time to become rubber because he hasn't mastered his power completely

It might be because fists are too big to make Luffy's body stretch back much.

Because, if we calculate the sheer force of a bullet vs blunt force damage... we end up with a pointless comparision, since blunt force is not the same as piercing damage.

also, the writer can do whatever he wants.:) :P

Foxy was using spikey rocket propelled gloves, franky smashed him into a building but did no real damage. Rob Lucchi is way superhuman, and has the shigan which is a puncturing attack. I don't think that its really all that bad, I mean now and again there is a bit of a question as to, hmmm how does the beating get through, but if you consider the difference in kinetic energy carried by a punch from Rob Lucchi as compared to a bullet, hte numbers are obscene. Even if the surface area is dozens of times greater the penetrative power should be much more.
Its like this. You can cut warm butter with a baseball bat. You can put a cannon ball through a man. Its all a matter of density and speed.

Not only that though....Just because hes made of rubber doesnt mean it cant be bruised.. Look at Nami's thumps to the back of his head..He gets a nice little lump afterward..Thats a power punch...Lucchi who?? :laugh
