Hi there! I'm wondering who would like to learn from an actual speaker? I'll thrash those annoying tryhard American teachers! Serious!
Common phrases, place names... Q&A also!

Oh, by the way, unlimited amounts of people allowed. Once I get enough people, I'll post rules

本気で?そのいわゆるアメリカ人の先生たちは役に立つもんじゃ。
けど、お前オーストラリアにすんでいるそうだから、日本人か?
(もちろん引っ越したかもしれけど、、)
じゃ、よろしく~

Umm...do you have any sites that you could reccomend please?
It's just i have wanted to learn Japanese for a very long time...but in England finding a place to learn isn't always that easy...so i was just wondering if you could reccomend a place to begin?

I recommend
guidetojapanese.org (nihongo.3yen.com) [Tae Kim]
It's mainly grammar, but it doesn't tell you any bullshit lies or myths that the books like to do to make it easier, and it doesn't use romaji.....but it has a section to teach the kana...so don't worry. (Romaji is evil anyway).
I came across the site when looking for a good site to explain "wa" and "ga" (you'll understand when you start studying). I always get asked that question, and I would always type out a long, horrible explanation. Now, I just take one of his articles and just copy + paste it. I quickly scanned his site and it seems pretty good to teach people.....so now I recommend Tae Kim's site whenever anyone asks me for a good one.
One tip: Don't compare English grammar to Japanese grammar, and don't try to understand Japanese by translating...if you do you might as well quit while you're ahead.
Anyway, practice a lot, and check out the other japanese threads here in these forums, and ask any questions you have; I, Yoshitsune, Katsuki, Botoman, Suzuhiko, or Chicken Dance can answer your questions.

Ah yes but it doesn't decide behind your back that the one's studying aren't smart enough to learn kana or kanji, and it doesn't teach you anything like always use polite forms, or when using state of being always use desu [です」. I find it funny how books like to teach Japanese with the polite, -masu form. This doesn't tell any lies that the book authors think make japanese easier to learn. They try to teach you this "use this if you want to say this" crap and a bunch of "useless" phrases, without you understanding how it actually works. And it teaches you to talk Japanese like an American. You learn just from these stupid textbooks, then go to Japan and talk to people you meet, or your friends, and they will probably laugh at you (maybe not to your face). They like to teach very stiff unnatural Japanese. I have to actually force myself to use polite forms.
Well, anyway I think it's a good site accompnied with another. But, I suggest learning from that one, as it teaches you the way things work. Not how to say English thoughts in Japanese. If you are stuck trying to figure out how to say an English thought in Japanese, or have to translate Japanese to English to understand it...you might as well quit.
Anyway, like I said, it's good to learn accompanied with another site to get you exposed more. The one at about.com is pretty good. And japanese-online.com is ok, but I see some flaws in both of them, but no where near as much as in japaneseguide.com

I'd like to learn how to say simple sentences such as my name, where i'm from, what I look like etc..
So far, i've learnt to read and write Hiragana (I mean how to pronounce each symbol etc, but dunno what words certain symbols make up), gonna start on Kanji and Katakana soon..
If you could, please can you put some english words like.. tree, car, house, shirt etc.. and next to them, how to write them in Hiragana or whatever, that'd be really helpful.
