Halo 3 released this year after all?

The American store Best Buy recently put 16/11 2006 as the release date of Halo 3 on their website. Microsoft have talked about this before, to release Halo 3 around the same time the Playstation 3 and probanly the Wii are released on the market. But nothing is confirmed and Microsoft and Bungie keep saying that the game will be released next year.

Would be awesome if this was true. :)

Microsoft is gonna need Halo 3 out eariy to attack sont and nintendo at front base. the play station 3 may be about 500$ but that ain't stoping the fanboys from getting metal Gear solid.

no way, it will certainly be released in 2007, no sooner. mgs4 isn't going to be released this year either, so there is no rush.

Also, the mgs series is an overrated one. It is essentially pac man. Think about it.

No it will be 2007 or 2008. MS has Gears of War + others to counter PS3 so no need for Halo 3. And the trailer had year 2007 in it. I think the movie was delayed to 2008 so they might delay the game too?

Exactly, if anything is actually going to "counter-act" the PS3 it is going to be Gears, because anyone who doesn't think that it will be the biggest thing since halo 2 and untill halo 3 is just wrong :laugh (not saying that it will be the best, but you know it will be popular). Ooo, perhaps Microsoft could release a Halo 3 demo over live and into stores a few days before the PS3 launch :amuse. That would be win win!

Releasing Halo 3 this year would totally mess things up for Microsoft. If Halo 3 comes out near Gears of Wars time then a lot of people will end up forgetting about Gears of War or just not care as much about it as Halo 3.

Not only that, but we all know that Halo 3 is going to be Microsoft's biggest game since Halo 2, so they really need some time to hype it up. Tease us fans with more screenshots, videos, and info (maybe even if we pray hard enough a multiplayer demo :3).

I see it possibly launching in 4th quarter of 2007 if we get lucky. If it gets delayed like all other greatly anticipated games do then we might be seeing a 2008 launch. I don't care when it comes really. As long as it lives up to my expectations.

C) Sales, it'd give people time to save up for 360s for Halo 3 launch day. (This goes along with hype) If they have time to save up after seeing its pwnage sales of the 360 will go out the fuckin' roof!

Honestly, I think Microsoft has enough coming out this year to do just fine without Halo 3: Dead Rising, Gears of War, Chromehounds, Saint's Row, Crackdown (I think), F.E.A.R., Huxley, etc. This is good because we really don't wanna rush Bungie on these things. But I think Nintendo's gonna be stealing more with the Wii launch than the PS3 will at launch. And my reasons can be summed up in this simple, yet elegant equation.

I have to say I agree with the people who have said Halo 3 really does not need to come out this year. They already have anticipated titles coming out this year. Specifically Gears of War. PS3 for sure is not going to Launch with must have titles. They never do anyways so no real need. MGS 4 isn't going to come out until next year the earliest (Kojima said it himself). I could take the wait. By the time Halo 3 comes out. There will be a lot of 360 owners. And possibly even more by the time the game hits the shelves. I say take your time and come up with a good game. This is after all the possible end of the story (though games will still come out possibly but as far as the story goes this could be the end).

Anyways I stopped by Best Buy earlier when I went to see Superman Returns. Good movie. You love Superman I suggest watching it. But anyways I went to dig up research to the claim. And no there was nothing about Halo 3 reservations. I even ask the gaming department dude. He said no and chuckled. I sort of told him where I got the idea and he said nope. So yeah. There you go.

I dont think it will come out this year but its not like i care. Halo 2 the hype was better than halo 2 the game. Better graphics, duel wielding and online multiplayer doesnt make it a better game. Release this game in november and it will suffer the same fate as halo 2, worse game, better graphics, huge sales...lol@the thought of ppl waiting on halo 3 calling fans of ANY other series fanboys.

Anyways I already reported that after visiting a local Best Buy store. They are not taking in any preorders with Halo 3. Earlier today I went to the mall to buy me some new kicks. Visited such stores as EB and Gamestop. They too are not taking in any preorders. So yeah there is no Halo 3 coming out this November.

Just a simple FYI: Bestbuy.com has the date at 03-01-07. So while that is not the expected date. Most are expecting Nov. 2007. As for the March '07 date? Think of it as a guess by Bestbuy. They really did not officially state which month or quarter of the year it will be released. Just 2007.

So for people worrying. I could see there still are people bothered with the initial news. Halo 3 will come in 2007 not this year.

Well even if I’m not a great Microsoft fan I have a place for halo and halo 2 in my heart, great games and along with KOTOR the only reason I never regretted buying the console.

That’s why I want this game to be big, I want this to show us things the previous halo´s didn’t show, new civilizations, new planets with new environments, I just hope they don’t focus too much on the online modes instead of the solo mode. And the more time they take to finish the game the better it will be.

Work on Halo 3 started immediately after Bungie finished Halo 2. A lot of people are guessing Halo 3 will be released on 7/7/07.
