We all know the Akatsuki was able to block the positron cannon blast from the Minerva but it's not logicaly possible. Look:
From http://seedgenesis.net
// Anti-Beam Coating
Series: Gundam Seed, Gundam Seed Destiny
Classification: Defense
Created by: N/A
Description: Despite the fact that Phase Shift Armor used by prototype Gundams is highly effective in defending against both missiles and other projectiles, it is completely useless against beam attacks. This lead to the development of shields that are coated with Anti-Beam coating that is effective in defending Gundams against beam attacks that is similar to the hull armor of ZAFT's battleships. The Anti-Beam coating is able to last for a long time except it gradually wears away through strenuous and vigorous use.
Discuss. If you have no clue what I mean look at the GIF on the left in my sig!

It's not Anti-Beam armor. It's something else entirely (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ORB-01_Akatsuki).

It's an anime we're talking about. You can't expect everything to follow the rules of physics.

Character shields. He has one of the strongest ones ever made. Plus hackatasuki is made out of pure hax. XD

lol! read thoroughly first... i indicated the important part... the anti-beam coatings are the ones applied to shields... thats not what is on akatsuki's armor... clearly, the anti-beam coating on the shields are uncapable of blocking a full size positron blast as shown by mwu in GS when he tried to block his 1st positron cannon with the strike's shield. apparently, the coating used by akatsuki's armor is quite different as wesley said... it kinda absorbs the beam attack then shoots it back where it came from... one thing i kinda found odd though is that minerva's shot never went back...

There are other questionable things and events in Destiny aside from the one suggested by the thread-starter. I mean Mu La Flaga being alive in Destiny is questionable enough to begin with!
IMO, the only reason why Akatsuki has been able to withstand Minerva's attack is simply because they need an excuse to reuse that exact same footage of Strike shielding Archangel's bridge from GS episode 49... and well, to make Mu's "supposed" return cool. :amuse
Sorry for that, but as far as technicalities of the MS are concerned, what I've just said is what I really think. :P

On that note I say this: It's too freaking powerfull! Maybe it did go back and canceled out the attack completely allowing Mwu time to shoot it.

lol! i always thought that akatsuki absorbs the blasts, it kinda stores it in a container, battery or whatever(this probably happens cuz the shots are not reflected at an instant. it always takes like a second or two before it goes back), then shoots it back... so if that is the case, then i think this is what happened the energy from the tannhauser was too much that akatsuki was unable to absorb and store all that energy and then akatsuki kinda has a safety device which allows it to discharge excess energy as light... which should explain the huge ball of light that surrounded akatsuki...

Real answer about the Tannhauser reflection... Destiny's writers and animators are lazy.
