What if?! The first flashback wasn't meant to be Luffy's 'REAL' flashback.. wasn't meant to be his main flashback... it was meant to introduce Luffy as a character..

What if!? Like Oda make some plot twist after SH completed their crew.. and then showed us Luffy's real flashback.. wouldn't that be amazing?

Coz... until now.. out of all the SH crew... Luffy's past n personality is the most mysterious one now that Robin's past is revealed..

what do you guys think??

We might get one with a younger Luffy and Ace training.

Or perhaps...one which features baby Luffy + his grandfather....SAUL!!! :omg

I'm inclined to agree... although I think its not revealed for a reason i.e. Those with the middle initial D are the mysterious personas after all. We've been fed clues here and there about his past: Gol D. Roger, Marshall D. Teach, Hagwarl D. Saul (whom Aokiji hinted as his grandfather, if I read it right), If his past is indeed revealed it will be near the very end IMO.

Yup.. that kinda stuff is what's I wanna talk about.. coz.. almost all of the flashback.. except maybe Sanji (but I consider Zeff kinda like his own father)
and Zoro (Kuina as his own sister)
shows their family.. but Luffy's not... and I think.. this is what Oda's been pulling up...

Yup Oda is certainly teasing us it seems wierd that we know the least about the main characters past. Theres not many animes that pull that over you. It is very secretive and the only reason why has to be the much talked about "D" theorys so I agree near the end hopefully Oda can expand on Luffy's past

For a long time, I didn't even realize how little we knew about Luffy. I'm sure Oda has some really good reasons for all of the secrecy. I think it also makes it really fun to speculate on what the truth could be about his past and family.

I can not wait for his past to be revealed. But that would mean the end of OP which would suck. But still would be cool to get that confirmation. Gol D. Roger is his great uncle. I am calling it now.

Yes! I think so! I think we have yet to learn A LOT more about Luffy! In all honesty (IMHO) he is the most mysterious/hard to figure out character, lol
I know it sounds weird, it would seem Luffy would be the easiest to figure out! But I find he is hardest to get into the mindset of, I never really know for sure what he is thinking....

^ Yeah.. He is the hardest to figure out.. sometimes he could be so serious.. smart and captain-like.. other times.. he is like a care-free idiot who doesn't know what's going on.. but I guess thats just his character..

maybe he has multiple personality disorder.

i think its just because he has strong principles that he doesn't compromise, and uber instincts hence being so uber as a fighter.

definately most mysterious. one of the largest unsolved OP mysteries is his grandfather

I definitely agree, I wanna know more about this ''D'' thing, his grandpa, why Blackbeard is named that, more about Ace, more about Luffy.

I think we're bound to have a story that clears up the history of the D sooner or later. By which I mean later.

But yes, it was when Ace showed up that I realised that we just didn't know anything about Luffy. We don't know anything about his life except he idolised Shanks, ate a Devil Fruit and has an older brother.

His love of pirates doesn't even seem to have come from Shanks, because it doesn't seem like Ace worshipped him in the way Luffy did. It's almost like piracy is just the family business.

This is so true.. I also agree that his love of pirates doesn't come from Shanks himself.. bcoz it'd be weird for him hanging up with group of pirates that he doesn't even know them unless he idolised pirates from the beginning.. it also doesn't look like Shanks has saved him whatsoever before they began knowing each other..

And yeah.. why did Ace not worship Shanks the way Luffy did?

And yeah.. why did Ace not worship Shanks the way Luffy did?Probably because he was older, and not so impressionable. He might also have been busy doing whatever the hell it is they did on that island. We really don't know anything about them.

yeah, its kinda strange that we only know that little bit about luffy's past. its like a few days in his life. we don't even find out he has a brother in that bit. we really need to find out more about the D. >_<

i personally think that maybe luffy & ace's parents were pirates, and soon after luffy's birth, they were either caught by marines, or gave themselves up to save their sons. the vice admiral (i think that was saul's rank) saul took in both sons, and renamed them according to his family tradition w/ the D (monkey d. luffy and portgas d. ace) and then sent them to the island where luffy was raised. that would explain a lot.

or

saul was a traveling elbaf warrior of some sort, and on his travels, adopted a kid, luffy's dad. later on, luffy's dad became a pirate, while saul was also getting promoted in the marines, and both end up going their separate ways. luffy's dad meets luffy's mom, bang bang they hav ace, a while later bang bang again and they hav luffy, and following saul's family tradition, they name both kids w/ the D. later on, luffy's parents are killed by marines, saul is devastated, implanting the first seeds of doubt about the marines in sauls mind, which ultimately leads saul to help robin's mom in the future. luffy and ace are sent to their closest relative or a friend of their parents or something, and become pirates.

just some theories on wat could hav happened.
