Doubt it Luffy was holding back for the majority of the fight. When he got serious he took out Usopp quite quickly

Yeah, but Luffy never beat Ace and that was pre-Devil Fruit Ace. On the other hand, Luffy lost with his Gomu Gomu powers.

So now, even though Luffy is on a whole other level, Ace is even higher being a logia user.

dont recall a 'kyoji/domon fight' but while they may end up fighting, i still dont think it'll be serious. They're gonna hold back a bit when fighting each other (barring unforseen circumstances like luffy's nakama being threatened) cause their family. The 'intent to kill' just wont be there (or in Luffy's case, i guess it would be the 'intent to kick ass' cause he doesnt kill).

Ya know, I think a lot of people misunderstood the whole Luffy and Usopp fight.

When Luffy told everyone to gather their gear, because they'd never be able to step foot on GM again, I clued in. Particularly when Usopp told Franky that he knew that GM was dead.

The fight was over who would be the one to let GM die.

Luffy didn't want to be the one to do it, he knew that Usopp loved the ship more than him, and that's part of why he said that the ship wasn't like a person. It's also why Zoro didn't chime in. Zoro especially knows that all things, rocks, trees, even ships, all have a breath of life in them. (Remember when he first cut steel?)

The whole fight was like watching two adult children, trying to decide who would be the one to pull the plug on an dying parent. They fought to see which one loved Merry more. Usopp won.

Luffy didn't give the fight his all, but Usopp did.

So in this case, while Luffy beat him physically, Usopp won the spiritual fight. Which was why Luffy was crying when he left. It broke his heart that he knew that he'd never see Merry again, but saw that Usopp really did love the ship more than he did... and I think he felt a little inadaquate because of that.

Just my opinion though.
