Yeah it's mostly the leveling that has problems i guess, to level up fast you need to have a party but yet they made it hard to find parties a lot.Then soloing is impossible unless you fight enemies that give you weak exp.

The most people complain about is the lvling. Once the PS2 release and the n00bs came in (sorry but not every PSer was. lol but some of em i just wanted ti ring their neck). The age level was lower dramatically and the economy in the game was shot. I dunno about hte other servers but Quezecotal (howeve ryou spell it) and Fairy you lost your means of making money. lol Now with the international coming out soon (i dunno if it has already or not) thats goign to bering in a ntoher flow of people that ... prices will drop and just more overal.

Partying is hard especially once you get around Dunes, because people get annoyed easily and its hard to find good parties. I liked the game and overal its awseome if you look at the programming and game developement aspect. lol weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

I droped out a month ago but i have two more to get myself together and get back on . IF i ever get time.

Yeah, I play it. I imported it from the US around last spring. I have played it a lot but I have changed servers three times and I just changed server recently (I'm on Midgardsormr now) so my level is only 8 now.

The game is fun and all but it kinda lacks variety. That's why I don't usually play it more than 2-3 hours a day.

I used to play on the Slyph server under Battousai but I got tired of it once I hit lvl 30 and got some advance jobs because there wasn't anything else to look forward to. Leveling got old real fast, and the amount of time you haver to dedicate to lvling just gets insanse around the higher levels. The game turned into a level grind and it lost its appeal to me after a while. Not to mention everyone looks the same.

Well I got it recently as it only came out last week in Europe!

I'm on the Pandemonium server, lving is very annoying, espcially if you start out with something that doesn't have cure! But i'll play it for a while longer, part of a nice linkshell on there so I can talk to people and ask for or help other people out.

Yeah I totally agree. I used to be an FFXIer, but then I stopped just because it wasn't that fun anymore for me. :sad

It's a very interpersonal game, you need to get along well with others and you need a party in order to level up without killing yourself after lvl 10.

However, it is a lot of fun if you like a HUGE world in which there are tons of things to do. I just scratched the surface of the game while I was playing. Check out www.ffxionline.com for your FFXI source and a great forum. FFXIOnline has been around since like 2002/2003 (yes - before the game came out in Japan!) and they have the best FFXI forum IMO.

I play FFXI too. I'm a mithran WHM on the server Garuda. Currently stuck on level 34 trying to farm money for Erase and running around the globe for the teleport-quests.

The game's really addictive, I spent my last summer holiday almost entirely playing and then I ended up deleting that character. Dammit.

I got sick of the game and I quit. The exp-grind and the damn gilsellers really ruin the game.

I came back because I've gotten so many great friends in-game and if you have the right attitude the good things override the bad ^_^

But it gets tiring, every once in a while.

And about the marriage-system... I think it's a nice little addition to the irl-couples but getting married [even if just in-game] to someone you barely know sounds weird to me xD; I've gotten a few proposals but I've politely turned them down.

I used to. The game was pretty must focused on grouping way to much. The story is acculy cool and all as well. but u lose to much exp when u die. alot more than eq's.

uhh its cost 12$ a month,,, its kinda impossable to not be able to afford that. i spend more than that in a week on snacks at work... and yeah its focused on grouping playing.. the point of the game is to play with people and help each other.. you cant really get alot of the items later lvs alone.. so you have to get help to get it.. you just need to remember to help other when they need it... like i said im lv 70 now and i couldnt have gotten half the shit i have now without high lv help.. but i try to help people in game all the time.. i have given away ALOT of gill and spent countless hours helping others with quests and what not...but yeah the only downfall is, that if you dont make friends you gonna need to be paying mercs for alot of help.. so you better get your non-friend making ass farming

I play the game on Leviathan Server, but my problem has been I could never fully get into it. I basically at the moment really just play it with my girlfriend, since she really enjoys the game. My only problem with the entire game itself is the fact that it is so group oriented. Maybe it is just the server I am on, but the majority of people that seem to be in low level really have no clue how to hold up a group well at all, and they normally tend to die off in a few seconds if there is no PL available. It really does get annoying at times. My only other problem was the fact that you had to get so high up to be able to play the advance classes, which in my case are the only classes I feel like playing. It starts to feel bad that I'm playing the game, leveling a job I really don't care about to drop it in a few seconds the moment I get Samurai or Nin.

I will give it major credit for story though, and the additions of having an NPC now makes it more enjoyable. So I have to try giving it an addtional shot again soon, hopefully things will get better for my own experience.

you wont drop the job. you will probally be using warrior as a subjob if you plan on going nin or sam.. i think the reason they make you wait untill 30 to get the advance jobs is you need to have one of the reg jobs as your subjob.. how good would a lv 30 paladin be without having war as the sub and not having provoke... not to good... and the dunes just bite in general.. its the first time you really have to party and alot of people dont know what they are doing.. you just need to get a good pt set up and youll be fine.. just stick with it man.. trust me.. the game opens up more and more and more as you gain lvs.. i cant wait to hit 75 {70 now} and fight gods and other HUGE monsters such as dragons and what not.. and btw if you dont want to party, you can solo beast master from lv 1 -75.. its like the solo job of the game.. itll just be you and a pet.. or another beast master if you choose to team up

I'm still playing this game, my 2 main jobs being 52 WHM and 36 DRG (I level WHM because my DRG is in a static now, which is why the level is still quite low).
There are only a few things that REALLY suck about this game imo...
-Gilsellers (Overcamping mobs and inflating the economy more than Pamela Anderson's assets...why doesn't S-E do something about this?)
-Elitists (Vein bishes)
-The level dropping

Those new exp rings they have now are a blessing though.

Well I been playing for about a month and a half now lvl 50 ninja >P lvl 30 thief and warrior lol, I must say the lvling was made a lot easier than when I first played. Kinda nice to see once all the 360 players comes in it'll be hard for them still the economy is fuxored to the max.

Other than that the game is exactly as I hoped it would keep being a great pass time great people *except ew gil sellers* fun game over all plus who can't like that story, the xp required to level was made a lot less from what I can tell the xp rings are also a gift from heaven hehe slowly but surely they making it even better the expansion sounds so great *solo areas and tons of other things* can't wait.

Also thanks for the rep Goku nice of you and great to see more big mmo players around here.

I gotta agree with a lot of you, this game is incredibly boring at the beginning. But it's really fun once you get higher level. Limbus, kings, dynamis, and HNM is really fun.

I've played for a few years and working on 3rd 75 job. it's ok, but an addiction. I find it amazing how SquareEnix does this. there leveling system actually really sucks. I do wish they would make it a somewhat less annoying. like in Guild wars where you actually get xp for doing missions and things.

I do play guild wars as well, the major differance betweent he two I find is the ladder. I mean, you can level like crazy in FFXI to become strong, and advance your jobs and stuff and you just end up doing the same thing over and over, not really learning much about the job. as where in Guild wars, you long level to 20, after that... you basically NEED to KNOW the job to play it well. you need to know how to use the skills, and at particuar times, and what battles to use what. it's all in strategy not leveling.

I quit in 05 after hitting 75 and then delvling from a train of DW in Sky.

Cidain DRK 74(75 :yell) Siren. Took me forever to get 75 with my DRK, but I just loved it so much xD I was pretty geared out as far as money goes, was in the process of grabbing EX/RARE shit and relics.

After playing this game, every MMO seems to lack something and I end up yearning to play FFXI again. The only thing that has stopped me is the fact that I can't get my character back since you can't revive chars older than 3 months.

Well I thought I was completely done with this game, but it looks like I am back into it. Previously I said I was a 64 PLD, now I'm at 70 and I am finally gonna take it to the limit. The game is a lot of fun now and I am really enjoying the Zilart Storyline.

Paladin's seem alot better after all the buffs they got. Auto-Refresh and upgraded shield shit for instance. Even Dark Knights got Dread Spikes.

Dragoon has yet to come back after the TP nerf with Penta Thrust from early on.

You should have fun fighting Maat. I almost beat him on the first try, but he pulled a 500 Monk weapon skill out of his ass.

The TP nerf was so long ago, and there has been a bunch of improvements to the job since then (Not to mention, it wasn't even a nerf for Dragoons, it was ment to counter Monks with Relic Knuckles and spamming Asuran Fists!). As it stands, Dragoons are fine to party with, but endgame, we're still not the most necessary job ever.

However, hopefully with this months update, that'll change a bit :nod

Join the club, I've been playing since it first came out as well. On top of the fact that since then, the only job I've taken and really enjoyed playing was Dragoon. And I won't lie, for the longest time, we were looked at as one of the worst jobs in the game. Going from level 40-60 probably took me longer then 70-75 (Considering the EXP needed from 70-75 is much more then 40-60 as well), mainly due to the fact that no one would invite me despite having good gear and knowing my job and blah blah blah.

But lately, things have changed quite a bit for the better. While no, we're still not looked at as one of the best jobs ever, we're certainly not conceived as being as bad as we were to begin with.

And the job has had a couple nice changes. New 2 hour, 20 minute Call Wyvern, 3 minute Super Jump (such a nice change, especially for merit parties), Angon, Deep Breathing, Empathy. And a few better equip pieces. But yeah, I do agree, a bunch of new abilities and maybe a couple new traits like Sam got would be nice too. The only issue I have is a lack of macro space, lol.

Just unlocked Sky yesterday, it's pretty cool, finally on Z14 and I have to say this is the best storyline I've come by in FF11.

I ended up coming back in April or so (more then 3 months after) and ended up being able to get my account back easy.

Now, if you don't remember your ID or password, you can phone in and get that too. You will need to answer a few questions (like, home address, postal code, and probably most importantly, credit card info), and if they think that the account was legitimately yours, then they'll give you the info back. Easy peasy, my friend forgot his ID, and was able to get it back about 6 months after he quit.

And MysticTrunks, having only played Bard and Rdm to high levels, I can see where the game would get boring, lol.

The Zilart Missions are pretty neat. I've only gotten to 14 so far (I pretty much made a big effort to get sky and haven't gone back, lol). CoP is much more interesting I gotta say. Having completely beaten it, the storyline + rings at the end are just wicked. I'm currently working on getting a Brutal Earring and Homam gear with my LS ^^ (among other things like Hecatomb gear and just generally killing gods (both sky and sea), hnm's and other endgame stuff.)

The Zilart Missions are pretty neat. I've only gotten to 14 so far (I pretty much made a big effort to get sky and haven't gone back, lol). CoP is much more interesting I gotta say. Having completely beaten it, the storyline + rings at the end are just wicked. I'm currently working on getting a Brutal Earring and Homam gear with my LS ^^ (among other things like Hecatomb gear and just generally killing gods (both sky and sea), hnm's and other endgame stuff.)

CoP looks to be a pain in the ass to accomplish, hearing bad things about this and that with the story. I want to finish that up after Zilart. Luckily the LS I am in does Divine Might runs and there is a party, which I just helped finish Z8 in the LS as well, so most likely Z14 will be done fast, and then we will be done with Zilart. Most of the LS members already finished CoP, but I was told there is at least 5 people where I am at so we can probably get through it or at least up to Sea.

As for Aht Urghan...I don't really like the Arabian Middle Eastern feel to it and the story is a bit boring. Hopefully Wings of the Goddess will have some awesome Chrono Trigger like story and stuff.

Well, CoP can be trouble some. But really, if you put enough effort in, it's really worth it. The feeling of accomplishment you get after beating a hard fight like Ouryu or Airship is terrific. And with all the changes they've made recently, CoP isn't nearly as difficult as it used to be. Well worth the investment imo. I <3 my Rajas Ring, and can't wait to get Brutal Earring and Homam ^^

And yeah, I can't lie, I'm jealous of your LS. I've been on ZM14 for like 2 and a half years now, lol. Enjoy the finish, the Arc Angels and the final fight look really fun.

I gotta agree. While I actually do sorta like the ToAU story (being Indian, I'm used to the middle east feel too >_>), the missions so far have been beyond easy. My party wiped to Khimaira, and Karababa (I think thats her name) went on to completely destroy it for us, lol. So yeah, the missions are pretty meh. But the new features like Assault and Besieged and etc etc, I'm really enjoying ^^

I can't comment on the latest expansion since I quit before it came out, but the very new one that has yet to be released sounds like its going to be good.

Muhahaha, finished up Zilart, best story in the game thus far. I got Paladin to 73 and now pimping it out in my Adaman Armor and Koenig Shield. We did Ark Angels Divine Might Style (All 5 at once), which means I got one of the earrings (Knight's Earring since it's perfect for PLD).

The new update introduced the final chapters in the Aht Urghan Story, final boss is Alexander, which sounds like it will be a pain in the ass fight, but I won't get to that until I finish Chains of Promathia.
